Others say...
"Disappointing sound quality" After reading some reviews, I was excited to purchase these headphones because they sounded like a reasonable bargain. Unfortunately, they've proven to be quite disappointing.
The build quality is alright: the wire is light and soft and the drivers are soft too though I really can't get them to stay far enough into my ear to isolate and deliver the most sound they have to offer. Also, the wire is a bit too short for me: I can't put my player in my pocket and have the earbuds remain in my ears because there isn't enough chord and the earbuds get pulled out of my ears as soon as I move (I'm 6'2" and this is a pretty common problem with earbuds for me.)
The big disappointment was the sound quality. Bass was almost completely absent; there was only a tiny bit of impact but even that was minimal and the driver had to be quite far into the ear to hear it. I don't expect much from earbuds, given how small the drivers in them are, but these are far and away the least responsive on the low end that I've heard in quite some time. There's plenty of clear high and mid range sound there but it just didn't sound balanced at all to me and the highs sounded a bit more synthetic than say, the standard Apple iPod headphones.
I couldn't spend any significant time listening to the headphones, despite an effort to listen to them for an hour or two: after that, I was done.
Even my fiancee, who is typically pretty easy to satisfy with headphones, refuses to use them.
"Excellent Earphones!!!!!!!" It took me a few tries to figure how to properly use these 'phones (You have to seal them deep in your ear, not just place them in there like the old iPod ones I was used to). But since I was able to figure them out, I have not been able to force myself to use those old iPod earphones - the sound quality is that much better. The attenuation of nearby noises is great. I can't hear a thing, even on a relatively low volume setting. The wire is different as it wraps around your neck but that just takes some adjusting and is not a big deal. I love Sennheiser products and have stuck to them when it comes to buying new headphones (I currently own three different pairs). These CX300-B are great value for the money ($20) and you will not be disappointed.
"Don't know about these other people but...." Personally, I find these to be an amazing set of earbuds. So much so, that I am actually writing my first Amazon review. After seeing all the reviews about horrible sound, I think those are just people that unluckily got a fake set. Which really, we can't even blame Amazon for, as they are at the mercy of the suppliers they buy from, who could have been duped as well. Either way, easy way to find out, is pull off the silicone earpiece, and look at the mesh screen. If it is on the outside they are fake, on the inside is real. Only reason I gave them a 4 rather than a 5, is I hate the cord.
"falls out" I cannot keep the buds in my ears. Freguent changes of the bud covers does not help. Other than that, sound is good with my Sony am/fm portable radio.
"Amazing while sitting, not for working out" I have owned many pairs of headphones and earbuds over the years, and these are without questions one of the best. When you are sitting down at your desk, on the subway, or just walking down the street, these are essentially the best headphones you can get. The sound is crisp, and the bass response is very impressive. They are only $24 right now on Amazon with free shipping, and I would honestly say I would buy them for 4x that!
I can't recommend them in the car, as they effectively cut out almost ALL outside sound. At the office I can't hear any phones or people around me, with the music not very loud at all. I haven't tried them on a plane, but I imagine they would be extremely good at blocking out the outside noise. As they aren't officially sound-reducing, if you can still hear the outside rumble a little bit, you can't complain.
The only quality of these earbuds that isn't perfect is trying to use them while working out. I love the y-shape wire, which is perfect for running down your left side. However, when you are working out, and the cord is bouncing around, every time it knocks against something it reverberates inside your ear for a loud and annoying popping sound. After reading other reviews of this product, I would have to agree that it is annoying but you can ignore it if you aren't bouncing around too much. Other than that: best earbuds I've ever used, especially if you like completely blocking out the outside world.

What our customer's say!
"Sennheiser CX300-B", These earbuds provide an excellent listening experience with a decent seal for sound isolation. Well worth the price.
"Very secure in ears, lacks a little on bass end, for me.", These earbuds are very comfortabel and stay in the ears really well, whether walkin or jogging. I would like a little deeper bass, but the mids and highs are great.
"MP3 Earbuds", When I first got an MP3 player and listened to the sound, I was thunderstruck. After years of declining hearing to the point of no longer caring about listening to my home sound system, I was hearing my music clearly! This experience was soon heightened by exchanging the original on-the-ear pads for inexpensive in-th-ear buds. Now I have to report at least as great an improvement by exchanging the buds for the Sennheiser model. These ear buds have a much improved frequency range and response and allow me to listen to my MP3 player at lower volume levels while still providing a very enjoyable listening experience. These ear buds have changed my music world almost as much as the original purchase of an MP3 player.
"Comfortable, good sound", Pros: -Comfortabe -good sound -rubberized cord really reduces tangles -good value
Cons: -may be a little too bright
"What a deal!", I love listening to music, it keeps me going throughout the day, and these headphones are just what i was looking for: a nice looking, inexpensive, great-sounding headphone that doesn't fit weirdly into my ear. As long as you aren't picky to the point of it being slightly ridiculous (about sound), then you will love these headphones, and i have a feeling the truly picky people aren't bothering looking at headphones this cheap anyways ;)

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Faller-outers good sound while their in.", Sound is nothing spectacular. They come with no case so you have to keep up with the ear pieces on your own..good luck with that. And speaking of those little ear pieces..they are GREAT at FALLING OUT, regardless of the size you pick. If this falling-out feature attracts you - why, these are for you! And then, as more icing on the cake, the Sennheiser CX 300 cords are created so one is much shorter than the other. It still amazes me just how this particular technological "epiphany" of one-side shorter cords actually made it through to production for a few companies, but somehow, it did. Maybe they were on the assembly line long after somebody with a brain yelled "STOP!". Pick one up for a penny then gently toss it away. For price-point wisdom in an overall hardy earphone for under $15, go with the Griffin ear-buds.
"Awesome Earbuds! Highly Recommended!", First I'd like to state that I'm not a picky listener and I have little experience with music quality and things of that sort; previously I was using a pair of 10 dollar Sony earbuds, and before I broke them(accidently stepped on, lol) the pair that came with my ipod Classic. These are definitely an improvement. They are pretty good at isolating outside noise. It comes with 3 sizes of silicone tips, I have small ears and these fit nicely, so if you're worried about the fit, there is no problems there. A few things to note, they have an asymmetrical cord meaning one cord(the right earbud)is longer than the left; I'm not a big fan of this, it looks semi awkward if you're not wearing them correctly(lol, they have instructions on how to properly wear them inside), plus I tend to rip the left one out occasionally, that being said it's a small subtraction. Anyway for 20 dollars, these are totally worth it, selling for 59.99 at most retail stores. Lastly I wouldn't recommend these for gym use as they do slip out fairly easily; this is due to the fact you have to have this sort of "seal" with the silicone tip and the ear canal, they never really feel secure, as they would with a sports/apple earbud. That being said, these come highly recommended for casual use, such as walking to class, on the bus, sleeping etc.
What's in the box? Not much, the 3 sizes of silicone buds and the earbuds themselves, that's about it. Also they have a 2 year warranty for the earbuds, which is nice.
Note: Make sure you buy them from an authorized dealer, I bought mine directly from amazon and they are legit; that being said, there are people who apparently are getting fakes from Amazon, so I guess it's hit or miss. You can check if you got fakes fairly easily by checking the physical characteristics, just google fake Sennheiser cx300's, you'll get pictures and what not.
Quick Summary Pros: Cheap 19.99 from Amazon Improvement over ipod earbuds and cheaper earbuds Nice outside sound isolation Clear sounding audio Great for casual use Cons: Asymmetrical Cord Not for gym use Easy to get fakes, google this.
"Great sound", Just opened the package to give these a try...WOW. I have a set of Sony earbuds that cost 2x these, and they do not compare. Great purchase...I would recommend these to anyone looking for a reasonably priced set of non-active noise reducing buds.
"Very good earbuds, best value for the money.", I didn't like the asymmetrical cord so I went and bought the Sony mdr-ex75 for my sansa view. I bought the Lenntek Sonix at costco because I need a second one but returned within the same day. I was about to get the second Sony earbuds but the price and glowing reviews made me go for the Cx-300 and it turned out to be the best out of 3. The Lenntek has so much bass and no midrange and high freq. The Sony has good midrange and clarity but no bass at all. The Cx-300 has decent bass and good midrange and high freq and it made me realized the sony doesn't have bass. It's very small and fits wells in my ears. I don't like the asymmetrical cord but I can trade for the sound quality.
To those who have problem with the noise with the in ears buds when jogging, use a small piece of masking tape to fix the cord to your shirt. I usually tape it right at the collar and the length from there to your ears should be not to tight so you can turn your head and not too loose.
"These headphones are phenomenal! ", I just recently got these and posted a review which somehow got lost so here's the redo. I purchased these to replace my Sony's since the left one had stopped working completely, causing a wobbly sound as I worked out, not great at all! I was concerned about the 'fake' issue but trusting Amazon I went ahead after reading a great review which cited correspondence with Sennheiser stating that Amazon is in fact an authorized retailer.
I did compare the packaging to some pictures I found online (google Sennheiser fakes) and after I was convinced they were legit I let my husband cut them out of the packaging (I recommend using a knife or scissors and just cut in, it's quick!). I tried them out and was blown away by the major improvement over what I was used to. Great bass, wonderful clarity, and I was able to put my volume back down where it belonged from almost maxed out. I even ran up and down the stairs to simulate the gym. Cord noise was minimal, and to be expected from in-ear headphones (ever play with a stethoscope?) it just comes with the territory, but it was much less than my previous pair.
This Monday I used my new 'phones at the gym for the first time and was thrilled to turn down the volume and still cover the loud spinning class who yells and screams and also barely hear the cord, but hear beautiful quality tunes. The medium buds fit perfectly into my teeny ears (iPod earbuds didn't even come close to fitting in there) and never once slipped out during 45 mins of cardio. I barely noticed they were in! The cord is better worn behind the neck as the packaging instructs. My sony's also had the asymmetrical cord, but 'proper' wearing didn't make a difference. With these the cord noise is much, much less when worn to the design.
Great price. Great sound. Great buy. If for some reason you get yours and think it might be fake, just call up Amazon. I have heard only amazing things about their customer service! Just be sure you are buying from Amazon (page will show item eligible for Prime shipping) and not a third party since there is no good way to know how legit their suppliers are. Good luck!
