Others say...
"Acronis True Image 9.0" This software is everything the professional reviewers said it was: User friendly, lots of options for backup needs, excellent Disk Image and/or Cloning for entire hard drive, etc. I bought it on basis of its reviews and would recommend it to everyone. Everyone should have a Disk Image of their hard drive. Incremental backups are fine, but still a headache to load everything back in after a crash. Disk Image using Acronis is the only way to go!! You will not regret buying this product!! The latest version is 10.0, but 9.0 works fine too, and much cheaper!
"Terrible product even worse support" All I can tell you is AVOID, AVOID, AVOID what makes it worse is the arrogance of the company. They coould care less about a customer. all they want is your money and then it is basically go %$#@ yourself.
"Saved my bacon" My #1 drive, WD 120 GB in three partitions, C:, E: Programs, F: Data went Tango Uniform. BIOS identification didn't even agree with physical characteristics. Tried a couple times for easy solution but no dice. Fortunately, I had backed it up. Full backup on 2/6/07 with incrementals 4/7, 5/6, 6/1, and 6/19. All of these had been manually started.
Making my previous Drive 2 my new Drive 1, I fully recovered my bootable system loosing only data since the last incremental backup. Man, was I ever relieved. This is about the 4th time I've lost my drive and data over the years but it's the first time that I had backed up. I would have lost all my pictures, tax info, etc. I'M A BELIEVER!
Couple of anxious moments. Using the original True Image bootable CD, the program said my backups weren't valid or corrupted. WTFO? Finally remembered I had updated the program. But wait, that was on the crashed drive. Spent several hours installing windows so I could download the updated version. This time I made a recovery CD with the UPDATED program and it recognized the backups.
This version (9) of the program needs to take complete control of the target drive. I didn't have anything on my drive so no problem. Interestingly, the restore returned the three backed up partitions and left the remainder of the drive unallocated.
This is probably pretty confusing but the bottom line is that Acronis True Image 9 works well. I'm going to see if I can schedule nightly incrementals after I do a current complete backup. Then I should never miss more than 1 day of data when the next crash happens.
Key lesson--make your bootable recovery disc AFTER you've updated the True Image program. Had I done that initially, my total restore time would probably have been significantly less since I wouldn't have had to mess with installing XP and its gazillion critical updates before I could download the Acronis update.

"Does exactly what it says on the tin" June 25, 2007
After reading several tales of woe from users of newer versions and of the recent Symantic products, we got a copy of True Image 9 to clone a drive and upgrade an XP Pro system. This can be found for around $15-20 plus shipping and is good bargain. Since it is from 2004, it might not work with Vista.
Installation and operation were clearly explained and problem-free. The older, once ample 8GB SCSI disk was cloned onto a new 160GB IDE disk in less than 10 minutes. After simple changes to the master-slave selection and the BIOS boot order, the system was up in another few minutes.
Our previous drive letter assignments for five devices were retained, so there will be no problems with future software upgrades. Complex software like Outlook and Microsoft Visual Studio picked up where they left off.
Does exactly what it says on the tin.
"Why buy this when 10 is out?" Great Product but shame on Amazon for selling it without telling people that it is old software. Kudos to Acronis for giving me a free upgrade to 10.
Acronis 10 is absolutely wonderful!

What our customer's say!
"Newer is not necessarily better", This older version of Acronis works well with WIN 9X and 2000 as well as XP. The newer version doesn't work with 9X. This is one more instance of a product that won't work with older OS versions. What's the point of buying a new version if I see no need to upgrade my OS?
"Works as promised", There is NO back-up software that is comprehensive and yet VERY simple to use. But this software does a good job of keeping it relatively simple.
On the advice of a knowledgeable friend, I purchased this version 9, which is out of date. Buying a later version just means you'll pay more, but get only "bloatware."
This software does a great job of supporting good back-up practices, and got great reviews from the computer magazines and web sites.
I use it to create complete images of my XP drives. When my drive finally fails, I'll be able to pop in a new C drive and in an hour or so be doing exactly what I was doing on the failed drive.
Get it and you'll know why.
"Reasonable product", I purchased this product after going through numerous reviews. I opted for an older version after ensuring that it meets my basic needs. The Acronis Secure Zone, a separate partition for backing up data, had been safely protecting my data for a number of weeks. You should try this product if you are on a budget. Otherwise, the newer version might be better - though I did not have a chance to try that out.
"Backup Software That Really Works", I have spent too much money and time trying out all kinds of backup software that fails in one way or another. My OS is Windows 2000, which does not have System Restore. Therefore, a functioning backup program is critical to me.
The problem with other software is that they produce a list of error messages stating that various files could not be backed up. What good is that? I don't have that problem with Acronis True Image 9.0.
Other restore programs attempt to overwrite the backed-up files on top of the existing files, creating a bad mix of the files you want with the files you don't want. Acronis solves this problem by totally wiping your hard drive during a full restore, and then reinstalling all of your backed-up files on a clean drive. No fuss, no muss. As a result, all the restores I've done so far have been flawless.
The fun thing about Acronis True Image 9.0 is that I can now experiment with all kinds of new software I've wanted to install and try out. I no longer have to worry about someone's nasty program horribly messing up my computer. Now, if the worst happens, so what? All I have to do is boot my computer using the Acronis Rescue Disk, and then instruct it to reinstall the backup located on a second storage drive. In less than 10 minutes, my computer is back and happy the way it was before anything happened.
After purchasing this product, do not install it. Instead, go to their website and register your license code. There's an available free upgrade to download. Install that instead. It has a few additional features which Acronis felt necessary to program in.
Acronis True Image 9.0 is very user-friendly, and not cluttered with hundreds of complicated options.
REVIEW UPDATE (March 2008): This software is now being given away for free by Seagate under a different name. They're calling it DiscWizard. This is not the same DiscWizard they had several years ago. When you install and run the program, Acronis' name is all over it. Seagate has added a few additional features, but it is 100% Acronis True Image 9.0.
"Good Product, Poor Instructions, No Support at Acronis Site", I purchased Acronis True Image Backup 9.0 last week and, when I tried to register it, found that it had been replaced by Ver. 10 and couldn't be registered at the Acronis site.
Also, Acronis saved a few bucks on tech-writing... the instructions are so poorly written that I would have been terrified to try out the application on my critical business PC. After going to the trouble of developing a good application with a user-friendly interface, why skimp by not engaging a professional native English-speaking technical writer to create clear instructions and an effective application help system?
Fortunately, I was able to experiment with my son's crashed gaming machine. Automatically copying the HD image to a new HD went safely and without a hitch. The Acronis user interface (at least, for this process) is very simple and straightforward. Plugging the new HD clone into a different PC (the old one was dead) resulted in the usual licensing and driver problems, which we were able to address without too much fuss. The the clone drive is now working fine in the new PC.
I then cloned the HD on my precious business PC using the Automatic mode - the other procedures were too poorly documented to risk - and the clone drive works fine on the same PC.
There are multiple ways of launching the Bootable Rescue Media Builder - both from the Programs Menu and from within the Acronis application, but I never succeeded in getting the process to work, either on his PC or on mine, and the Acronis site did NOT any provide support for Version 9.0. Not an acceptable state of affairs for a newly purchased application!

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Great Backup", Great backup solution. I install a second hard drive into someones computer and then let the software run and then forget about it. Never fails. Have not done a restore yet, but I would imagine it would be easy since I have an image of the hard drive and then the data that is up to date. Also, bought the software from a vendor that Amazon recommends, I don't no why they do this, but the software listed on Amazon is $49.99 which is the right price. I bought two from a vendor for $15.00 each. WOW what a savings and a great markup for me.
"Does exactly what it's supposed to", All I needed was to upgrade the hard drive on my Dell laptop, so I got Acronis True Image version 9 for half the price of the current version 10.
I put the new hard drive (right off the sealed box) into a USB caddy that I got on eBay for $6, plugged it into the USB port, and ran Acronis 9. Selected the "Clone Drive" wizard, and less than an hour later it was done.
No need to cross my fingers... the new drive booted right up, and I'm using it now to write this review. What could be easier?
"NO SHOW", This item has not been received in 25 days! No help from vendor
"Acronis Customer Support is THE WORST!", I have spent the better part of 4 months dealing with these guys. They won't talk to you on the phone, don't let you get support until you register your product with a serial #, which, if you lose and need to re-install, you can't get without a login and a serial #. That makes no sense.
I've had technical problems with True Image Home 9 and 10, and just can't get them to resolve it. Very unhappy with these guys. The product looks good, but if you have a glitch, prepare to wait A WEEK OR MORE for tech support to respond by email. Check out their web site and try some numbers - you'll find there's no way to talk to ANYONE unless you want to buy something.
This is not one experience with them. It's Feb 07 now, and this charade began last August! Buyer beware.
"newer version available at the same price", Heard other poster said v10 has been available, so searched and found it is true. V10 is available at the maker's web site at the same price as that of v9 sold here. BTW, I planed but haven't buy the product yet. But I have to assign a star number in order to post this message.
