"Fell apart", The Forerunner 305 is a great training tool. My wife used her 305 to train for several marathons and triathlons. The main complaint that I have is that it simply fell apart on a run. The face and insides fell off and onto the street...killing it. Of course it was out of warrantee and Garmin would only offer to fix it for $99. That is not the quality I expect from Garmin.

"Garmin 305 works great", It takes about 20 seconds to aquire satellites when turned on, but then the distance and speed are kept very well. I've been very pleased with the Garmin 305. I was concerned the size would be too big, but it is comfortable on my wrist.

"Very satisfied", I ordered this item in December 2008 and I'm very happy with it. Although it might look a little large in the photos, I did not find it bulky or uncomfortable. I'm still learning how to use all the features, but so far I have nothing but good things to say.

"Great product!", I bought this unit for my daughter for Christmas. She uses it every time she goes on a run. It tells her the pace and distance as she's running to keep her on track. Setup was a breeze.

"Solid runners aid", Very comfortable and surprisingly accurate, and this was by far the best price I found for the Garmin. Wonderful for accurately tracking splits, and recapping the major details of the run. The only issue I found was that it was not immediately obvious how to load the running data onto my Mac. Otherwise, this is a great tool for the serious runner.

"Awesome functionality... would like more battery", I'm a novice/intermediate runner and The Garmin Forerunner 305 has ventured out with me on 50-75 miles so far and I've only started to experience the full array of features. The screen is easy to read and buttons are easily accessible when on the road.
My normal running routes are just now getting fully programmed but I am excited to run using the 'running buddy' programs.
I did the Thunder Road 1/2 marathon in Charlotte with it and having an accurate reading of my pace helped me beat my previous 1/2 by nearly 10 minutes.
The internet connectivity when using a site like [...] is great as well to be able to see your route mapped (and not having to remember each and every turn you made along the way).

My only drawback has been the battery life. It says it will last about 10 hours, but it tends to be about 3, 1 hour runs and its gone. The battery indicator isn't the easiest thing to find and I have had it die on two runs so far when it was apparently low.
The size isn't bad for me, but I could see it being too bulky for some smaller guys and women.

Overall I really enjoy it and the price I got here on Amazon made it even better.

"Good Item", Excellent heart rate monitor/gps combo. All the information is there. The provided software provides good feedback on my performance. I have been able to develop courses and distances on neighborhood routes, including maps. Great on backpacking trips. I haven't used all of the functions yet, there are just too many. This was a good buy.
Cons: The first one I bought died after 3 usages, but was promptly replaced by Amazon. And it is BIG.

"Garmin 305", Easy to set up and use. Great software included. Somewhat bulky, but the GPS surpasses anything out there. Works even in heavily wooded areas.

"Garmin Forerunner 305", This watch is AWESOME!! The heart rate monitor is great, and the GPS is very easy to use. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a workout tool to help them further their fitness level. Easy to use and comfortable to wear.

"Very Disappointed", I received my Forerunner 305 for Christmas 2008. Unit is chunky on a small wrist which you could overlook if the performance was better.
Initially I kept losing satellite reception which I realize may not be a "garmin" issue, but it forced my computer to time out.
But the software was difficult to install and the maps required a "purchase" for the motion based upgrade. Maps are hard to decipher and I did not find the support to be user friendly.
