"Good music player"
I bought this product about two years ago when it first became available. It is a great music player and the software that comes with it is not bad either. I would recommend this product.

"Zen MP3 Review"
I love it. It was a wonderful deal. It works well and it has all the space I need, not to mention, that it's also adorable and pretty heavy duty.

"I thought it was amazing until..."
So i've had it for about 2 years, it WAS amazing to me, my first mp3. About 1,000 songs, videos, recording from the radio etc. Then without being dropped, without anything odd, it decided to delete absolutely every video, photo, and song file that I had. Of course beforehand it had the common freezes, I had to restart it every once in a while. But now I have to get a complete new one. It's ridiculous. In long term this isn't the player for you, but if you want to spend that much money for 2 years go ahead. I think i'm going to try a Zune.

"2 years and still going strong!!"
I have had my Vision M since September 2006 and it has been the most incredible mp3 player I have owned. I actually traded in a junk ipod for the Zen and was a bit apprehensive at first, but within a month, I discovered that I really made the right decision. I use my Zen EVERYDAY for about 16 hours! It has been exposed to both high and low temperatures since it is in a vehicle constantly, and there has been no problems with it. It is placed on the dashboard of a truck traveling on some of the roughest roads around, and still no problems. If you ask me, this is one of the best investments I have made. I also own a muvo by Creative that is very reliable. For an even cheaper, but reliable mp3 player, consider the SanDisk 1 GB MP3 Player Silver. If you are looking for a music only player, this is one to be considered. This inexpensive player will always be a top favorite of mine.

"great player, great price"
simply put, this is a better product and cheaper than a similarly sized ipod when I bought it. It's also proven to be very robust. I've had mine two years nearly with not a single problem, even though I've dropped it many times, and given it similar hard knocks.

"Just wanted a simple MP3 w/ Video capabilities", The tech support is limited to one year, unless you pay an extensive amount for it. The software is incompatible with common mp3 sites (iTunes, Napster, etc) so everything has to be converted and unless you know what you're doing before getting it, there isn't much help available. I've had mine for nearly 2 years now (was a gift from my MIL) and still can't get videos to transfer without having bitrate issues, connectivity troubles, and "cannot convert" errors - using not only their software but 3rd party programs as well. It's beyond frustrating and I'm about to give in to the Apple craze and just buy an iPod, I have 4 kids and just don't have time to fiddle around with this thing. I want to load n' go. Seems like most of the reviews on here are pretty good so perhaps it's user error on my part? (I consider myself to be an intermediate pc user and am usually quite capable of figuring out electronics so I dunno.)

"4 1/2 Stars - My 1st MP3 Player", (Please Amazon make it so we can rate with half stars.)

I've had my Zen for just under 2 years and I'm very pleased with it. I originally bought it because it was cheaper (only $200 when I purchased it) than an iPod.

Pros:

1) It has always worked fine. I've used it with Amazon Unbox, Amazon music downloads, Audible, iTunes, pictures and many of my old music downloads and almost everything has been compatible (see Cons #4).

2) Videos are amazingly clear. I've always been skeptical of tiny mp3 screens, but WOW. I bought a cable to use it with my TV and that works great too.

3) Adding tracks and creating and managing playlists is easy.

4) I've never had any problems with the button system or touch pad. I love the shortcut button. You can set it up for almost anything; I have mine set to Playlists.

5) Comes with an FM radio/recorder and a voice recorder. I don't use either a lot, but it is nice to have them, and you don't have to pay extra.

6) It is also nice to customize a background with pictures. Not important really, but a feature that iPod doesn't have.

7) It comes with a pouch for carrying, that I use all the time. Screen protectors are recommended for all mp3 players, I just have yet to get one.

Cons:

1) When you turn off the Zen, DO NOT pause tracks, as this makes the track start over when you turn it back on. It took me quite a while to realize this. This wouldn't be a problem for music, but I mainly use it to listen to audiobooks. I realized that if I just turn it off without pausing, it opens up at the same spot in the book. Or you can set a bookmark; I recommend this if you are listening to something long, like a book, and want to be able to switch to music or a video without losing your place.

2) You can use the random option for a playlist, but for the DJ options (least played, highest rated, etc.) it plays all tracks. In other words, it will play music, audiobooks, my voice recordings, lectures, etc. Not very helpful. But cool in theory.

3) I use Audible for my audiobooks and it is compatible, but for some reason in the Creative Playlist Manager these files don't show up.

4) I had a bit of trouble adding a few tracks to it. It comes with an audio converter, which helped with some of the tracks, but not all. In the Zen's defense, these tracks were given to me and some may have been corrupted so it's possible that's why it wouldn't accept them, but on the other hand, my sister's iPod didn't have a problem. I also noticed that one song I downloaded from Napster about a year ago won't go onto it. Weird.

5) It has frozen on me twice. Both times, I got a paperclip, pressed the reset and it worked just fine after.

6) The 1st thing people notice is that it's a little thicker/heavier than an iPod, but I don't care. To me it feels sturdy.

7) Why the extra piece for charging? I'll never know.

Overall, I'm satisfied and glad I didn't pay extra just for a "name brand". Also, it's nice not being chained to iTunes.

"Unreliable", I bought one of these for my mother. She used it very lightly(ie 20 times or less over a year). Just over a year after it was bought(and shortly after the warranty expired), it got corrupted and the recovery software from creative doesn't help.

I have a somewhat high computer/technical experience and normally can recover gadgets like this.

Save some aggrivation and buy a Zune or iPod instead

"Stopped working after about a year and a half", I've noticed most reviews are written shortly after buying a product - I thought I would give a caution to any buyers who are curious about the durability of this mp3 player. This thing worked great for about a year and a half. Then it abruptly stopped working for no reason. I had dropped it once or twice, but not for a long while before when it quit working.
It's the second mp3 player I've bought from Creative, and the other one lasted about the same time and then broke, same as this.
If you don't mind your mp3 player breaking down after a year and a half or so, then this one would be great. Otherwise, stay away.

"Preferred to Ipod", I've had my Vision M for a few months now. I upgraded from a Zen Micro. I'm sticking with Creative. Why? The main reason is they do not use a proprietary format. I can copy MP3s from my computer right to the Vision drive, without the stupid conversion process that Ipod and others use. I have to admit, I do not use the video capabilities. The idea of watching a movie on the screen just doesn't make sense to me. I do have pics stored and will go through them while listening to music on a plane trip. The Vision is easy to use, has good sound (especially if you buy a decent pair of head phones), and holds ALOT of music. I mostly have it plugged in to an MP3 capable alarm clock (through a mini-jack cable), and use it to listen to music to while I fall asleep. The automatic off mode is great for this.
Easy to use, and user friendly. I also have to admit I got mine on EBay, as I have all the accessories. Way less expensive than Amazon.
Check it out.

"My new best friend!!", As an avid music listener, I was happy to be rid of my CD player, and my first choice was to get an IPOD. But a family member told me about the Zen and I'm sure glad she did! It's so easy to use, you can upload CDs, mp3s, WAVs, photos, and videos within minutes. You can customize your background (one of my personal favorite features) You can delete pics or songs or albums or playlist right from the device if you choose (yes, deleting without connecting to a computer!) The LCD display is crystal, the capacity is awesome, I probably won't fill this thing in a lifetime and I listen to A LOT of bands. So, it's a bit thicker than the IPOD, so what!?! That's really the only con about it I can think to name. Get this little gadget, you won't regret it.

"A little poem I dedicated with my experience with Creative Zen Vision: M", Broken MP3 Player

My mp3 player is a tangle of wires
A mixture of pain and unaccomplished desires
Who boasted about all the features it brought
But its buttons broke a couple months after was bought
And the headphones that it came with later envisioned
To only utilize the left ear-bud to listen
Which leaves me a brick in a vegetative state
That when neglecting its size, still embodies `dead weight'
As a box that can store a considerable amount of music
With less than an adequate means of access to use it

"Unreliable piece of trash", I started off really liking this product. Then the problems started. The player would hang, then freeze completely and wouldn't even let me turn it off. I had to use a bent paper clip to press the reset button over and over again. After about eight months of use, the player wouldn't turn on unless you charged it overnight, and God forbid if you let it go to sleep mode. Eventually, after about 11 months, it died completely.

And forget getting assistance from Creative Labs. They won't even speak to you over the phone; you have to run the gauntlet of their unintuitive web site, and they won't deal with you at all if the product is out of warranty.

11 months isn't long enough for a product even one-eighth the cost of this piece of garbage. Save your money and don't buy Creative.

"No more CD players after this buy!", This is the best purchase I have ever made. You can put all your MP3, WAV & other files on the MP3 player. What I like most is that you don't have to subscribe to a specific web site to download music. You can put your own on there, buy music or audio books from any web site and put them on your player! It even has a FM Radio and I can put pictures, movies, etc on there. No more CD players for me on road trips!

"Creative Labs customer service ", Greetings to all potential Creative customers,
I was greatly disturbed today when I found out the lack of help provided by the Creative Labs Company to my wife when her 30 GB Zen MP3 player failed to run properly. In my opinion, it's actions like this that are ruining companies and our country's economy. Due to this company's inaction today, they have lost a once satisfied customer. Once being more than happy to promote this product, now we will be sure to divulge to our friends and relatives of this company's lack of helpfulness. My wife asked specific questions of the technical advisors in the e-mail form which were ignored; she was given a form letter, was referred to the website, and was told that she would be charged by the company for further help. She expressly requested the guidance of upper management from the technical support specialist, and this request was ignored, proving that Creative Labs is unwilling to provide any kind of meaningful help and does not value customer service. The menial help that the highly flawed website provided was a firmware application that caused the device to completely fail, and then the last piece of friendly advice that we received was that we should purchase a new one from the company's website. We were given an application that made our expensive device inoperable, and for that, I will never purchase another Creative product again. We have both been faithful Creative Labs buyers for years, and my wife had multiple friends and relatives buy their products based on her recommendations. It is with deep regret that I inform all that Creative Labs customer service has proven to be a bitter disappointment and for this, they have lost my family's business.
