"What's the point?"
In the market for a bluetooth headset, I found the sheer number of choices a little daunting, but after doing several days of research (reading reviews wherever I could find them), I settled on this unit. It had the features that I was looking for and I was able to pick it up for around $25. I liked the idea of the boom that could be folded to turn it off and opened to turn it on, thus avoiding having it accidentally turn on in a pocket or bag. The reviews seemed to be, generally, positive, and my girlfriend has one (it is a different color, I think it may actually be the H710) and she likes hers very much. So, I dropped the dough and was rather excited when it showed up.

That excitement lasted up until I made the 1st call on it. The reception on it is no better than a cheap no-name Chinese P.O.S. I bought a few years ago through eBay for $6. While I have had no trouble with the other party hearing me on it, the static I have had to put up with on my end is staggering. I have no idea why Motorola would even put their name on this unequivocal piece of garbage. I have to hold my phone (a Samsung SCH-U740) right up to the headset in order to eradicate the static and even that doesn't get rid of all of it. I can't use it with my phone in my pocket or even on the other side of my head! If I turn my head away from the phone...static. If I raise my hand to scratch my nose and it comes in between the phone and the headset... static. If I put my phone down on the couch right next to me, on the same side of my body as the headset...static.

I thought that, maybe, it might be the bluetooth signal transmitter in my phone that was to blame, but after doing a number of hours of research on that, I could find not one mention of that being a problem. Which, of course, forces me to conclude that the headset I bought is crap. I don't know why so many others have given such glowing praise to this thing. Who knows, maybe I got a bad unit. The fact remains, I will not be buying another Motorola product. I mean, if I have to hold my phone up to my head anyway, what's the point of having a wireless headset?

"A Good Deal"
I've used a wired headset from Plantronics with various cell phones over the years. Have tried blue tooth headsets before, but the sound quality (particularly for those on the other end) was inconsistent. This headset works very well. Easy to use, and while there's a bit more background noise than the wired headset, not getting tangled up with the cord while moving around is a real plus. Also, with the boom folded up it fits nicely in a pocket so I don't have to wear it around like some cyborg.

"Motorola H700 headset-good deal"
Although I bought this bluetooth headset for a trip to CA, since there's currently no laws requiring hands-free devices for cell phones in my resident state, I haven't had much time to really use it. But the little that I did, I found it very easy to install to my cell phone and use to talk with. Never did make calls with it, but that wasn't my intended use. Had very good voice quality and no static or reception problems. Would recommend to anyone looking for a reasonably priced bluetooth headset.Motorola Bluetooth Headset H700

"static static static motorola h700"
the title says it all. i had to return the headset motorola 700 after 2 days. got the plantronics 510 instead. nothing to compare. the plantronics is so good. nobody even asks me if i am on a headset or cell.

"Top notch"
Good sound quality and, usually, solid connectivity. Small, light, and reasonably comfortable. Personally, I had used ear-bud style wired headsets before this one. I found them more comfortable than the around-the-ear style headsets. But this one is far more comfortable than others that I have tried.

Like any Bluetooth device I've ever used, sometimes it oddly loses signal. But with this device, it is very easy to close and reopen the mike to initiate a reconnection cycle. I've never had an issue that this doesn't solve. I also like that I can very easily go from the headset to handset by closing the mike boom.

What our customer's say!

"Didn't Last Long", I bought this headset about six months ago and it stopped working totally. The battery life is very low. It worked okay while it was working, but I could only use it for local calls. No one could understand me if I called someone 100+ miles away. I would not recommend this or get one of these again.

"WIRELESS EMPORIUM - False Advertising of Motorola H700", Wireless Emporium claims this is a Morotola H700 Bluetooth Headset AND that it comes in Motorola Retail Packaging. NOT true. It comes in an unsealed plastic package, marked simply as a bluetooth headset. The item itself is marked Motorola but there are lots of fake H700s that are marked "Motorola." The one Wireless Emporium sold wouldn't sync with my Nokia phone, which it should. I lost a genuine H700, that I purchased from Nokia, and it worked easily. I have lost confidence in this merchant. They did return my money when requested, but I thought it was notable that their invoice asked me to contact them directly with any "problems." I don't think they want customer complaints going back to them via amazon since amazon has an interest in keeping fakes from being sold as the genuine article. It hurts their business too.

"Good, small, headset", I let my wife try my headset and liked it so much we bought one for her. What I like about it: It's small, very light, and has a low profile on the ear. The best feature we like is to to turn on and off the bluetooth with the switchblade like boom. Powering it on or off with a single flip motion was more useful than we thought. The call and volume up or down buttons are easy to use. Sound is clear, no problems. Drawbacks: It's small so I have a tendancy to put it in my pocket, which at times, presses against the call button causing it to enter 'discovery mode'. Easy to lose / misplace this device if you're not carful with it. When on the ear, it doesn't always fit super snug. So when driving, I turn my head to check for traffic, the device moves a bit, but doesn't fly off either. Overall, a good bluetooth headset. I'd buy another one if I needed it.

"Did not meet expectations", Although Consumer Reports gave it a great review, mine has so much static that I can hardly understand people talking. Maybe I just got a lemon, but I quit using it.

"False Advertising - Do Not Buy From WIreless Emporium", The ONLY reason I selected this vendor was because it specifically states 'Motorola Packaging' in the description. The packaging is a generic plastic case with the merchandise shoved in UPSIDE DOWN for display and the earpiece itself in a ziplock bag inside the casing. As I said, the only reason I purchased from this vendor is because I wanted to make sure it had a brand name look - the real packaging from Motorola, etc. because this was to be a gift in a few days for our son. Now I'm faced with having to go somewhere and purchase a nice looking gift and demanding a refund. As I said, save yourself the headache and DO NOT purchase from this vendor, do not be fooled by the "Motorola Packaging" - there's nothing on it that says Motorola - all it states is Universal Bluetooth Headset - and that it's compatible with Motorola.

"Great, but poor quality", Motorola dropped the bomb on this headset. I have seen MANY people complaining about the boom sensor being faulty and it just recently happened to me. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

"Buyer Beware", I purchased the Motorola H700 from CCMA Accessories in December 2007. The product was always slow to synch up with my Motorola K1 Krazr phone, but the problem has gotten worse over time, and now the battery is practically dead. The battery's talk time is down to less than one hour, and the battery runs down within a couple days even when the headset is not even turned on. The headset often takes several minutes to synch up with my phone, even if they are placed within inches of each other, and it tends to disconnect spontaneously after a few minutes of use.

The bottom line is "watch out" for this product from this vendor.

"Bad Bluetooth", I purchased this due to the laws enforced in chicago where you must use a handsfree while driving, and i'm sorry i picked this one. I get nothing but complaints from whomever i am talking with. I almost always have static also, i can have the phone on my lap and still have static. I never have the phone far from the bluetooth. It's a pricey little bugger too! So one would assume the quality would be good, but its not. I also work for a retail cellular company and i see this headset returned over and over. Also many of my associates have the complaint about this product. If you want great sound go get your self a jawbone headset!!

"It'll change your life!", Best money I have spent in a long time on an electronic device. I leave this thing on my ear so much that it has become another appendage. My wife even has a name for it. She calls it "BT". When I first used it, people couldn't hear me very well, but then I figured out that you have to make sure it's "installed" properly on your ear. Get it on there nice and snug! It works better that way. Motorola claims it is resistant to wind noise but I don't really think so. The best trick I've learned is to cup your hand over the headset and block the wind. (The mic pics up your voice from your jaw bone not your mouth.)

Other features that I really like about it: cool light that changes color based on level of charge (Red->Yellow->Green), blue light that blinks when it is on and connected to your phone (it looks really cool at night like you're Buck Rogers or something), super long battery life, compact folding style, extremely reliable and pairs easily with phone.

Negatives: as I mentioned wind noise filtering is not great but I have a work-around for that; range away from phone is not very far (10 ft realistically)

I highly recommend this device. I found it on [...] in a retail box. The value of the product greatly exceeds the price I paid for it, so I am extremely satisfied!

"Happy with it. Be very carefull about fake and cheap H700 or H500", I never used bluetooth set before, but I am happy with H700 that I purchased.

Be very carefull about buying from E-bay. If it is too cheap, it could be a fake one. There are lots of fake motorola H500 and H700 sets in Ebay. Do your google search 'fake motorola bluetooth h700' You will find lots of complaints from the people who bought a fake set. It also tells you how to tell the difference. I almost returned my H700 I got from Costco, when I first found out that it's much cheaper on ebay. Then I noticed that most of those sets under $30 on ebay are not real ones.

I decided to keep mine and am very happy with it. What I know is, fake ones perform so bad (static noise, short range, etc) that you cannot even use it. I am wondering about those people who left one or two star ratings here. Where did they buy their unit ? Do they know that they might have a fake one ? Flip the plastic earhook the other way . If you don't find word "MOTOROLA " , no serial number or a little check mark symbol in the back (just below the speaker), it's a fake one !!
