"Good Game, Bad Tech Support", Overall, this is a good game and a vast improvement over the first BFME. The inclusion of the dwarves and elves as races makes the skirmish mode more interesting.

There were a couple of things that were disappointments. First of all, I have to say that the graphics, even when set on ultra high were very disappointing and EA made no effort to improve them since the last game. The graphics where blocky and the characters' faces were all blurred out.

The largest problem was that if you are using any sort of nVidia graphics card this game usually WON'T even start. When I went through the EA support system they said, "try rebooting and enter this code." Needless to say, that didn't work. I then went to nine other third-person forums where I finally found something that I could get it to boot up.

Finally, if you save a game it won't be retrievable. I also tried looking on other forums for this but with no joy.

"Good fun and a chance to be in Tolkein's world", This recreation of Tolkien's world succeeds, in my opinion, at least as far as reflecting various battle scenes is concerned. It's not a first-person game, but rather a build-and-battle game. The units are well-balanced, and the game solid, though I did bring the ring to my fortress once only to have it disappear and then reappear mysteriously. I don't think Gollum was involved.

A mid-range graphics card is needed, and the interface is intuitive, and similar to Battle For Middle-earth I. They addressed many of the concerns people had with version I, for instance, now you can place buildings yourself.

It's more complex than version I too, for now archers and footsoldiers are rather critical for battling monsters, and there are some neat new monsters such as Wyrm.

It does bring an atmosphere reminiscent of Tolkien's world, but then I suppose most such games do that! Such is the influence of an author like Tolkien.

"The original was better in many ways", First off, the "strategic" level war of the ring is total crap. Very simplistic and not very playable. Again, there are two pre-scripted campaigns: good and evil. Those are o.k. but you don't have the option of picking your next battle by moving on a strategic map like in volume I. No real improvements in design or playability, just new races and units. I had expected more.

Not recommended.

"Fun game", I was pleasantly surprised with this game, I think I paid 10 bucks for it and I've gotten a ton of play time out of it, it's really been fun especially for the price. It's a bit more simplistic than some RTS games I've played but still fun and I always enjoy "The War of the Ring" game type. Campaign isn't super long but the replay value comes in playing the skirmishes and other game modes. I wouldn't pay $50 for this but for less than $15 you can't go wrong here and I 100% recommend this title. Music is really good too. 5 stars for fun factor and 4 stars overall (for re-playability and complexity)

"Be warned!! May not work by design.", Although the first game was pretty damn good, be careful buying this one. Apparently for some reason EA has intentionally made this game incompatible with some NVIDIA Geoforce graphics cards even if they meet the memory requirements. Not sure why they did this and don't care either. There was no information about this in the description on Amazon and nothing on the box that I received either. Double check the web to see if it will work with your card.

"Great game!", This game is really fun!Once you get on it you cannot get of.It is full of adventures and you get to be good and evil!I rate this game 5 stares because I now know how wars used to be in Middle Earth.

"Great Game, Fantastic Price.", This game is nearly flawless. If you are really, really looking for an outstanding and indepth experience (and have a powerplant for a computer), I would suggest Supreme Commander. Otherwise, this is my favorite RTS out to date.

"good game but...", bfme2 is a great game, however, some unrealistic parts of the game almost ruined it for me. such as : when have you ever seen 30 - 40 guys take down a castle made of stone in 30 seconds(with only swords and arrows) ? or 3 heroes take out an entire enemy base(again, with those weapons) ? so for some fun i got the S.E.E. mod. now you have to build siege if you don't want to lose your entire army. you can find it by searching for 'bfme2 special extended edition' on the internet. enjoy!

"Great game...one unfixed bug", This is a fun game but there is one problem that I still have not been able to solve. It played fine on Windows XP. I upgraded to Windows Vista and the game started to crashed sporadically. Some times I played for hours and at other times, for minutes. My computer specs more than meet the recommended hardware. For instance I have a Pentium D with a 3.2GHz chip, 3GB of RAM, nVidia GeForce 7900 GTX. All my drivers are updated. I have also re-installed the game, just in case. The only other advice EA gives is to run it in XP compatibility mode. I tried that and get an error message asking me to insert the correct disc. This, after I started the game by clicking on the game disk. I do not know if anyone else has had this situation but I still have no answer to my predicament. For the record, I am able to play all other games I have...from the very first C&C and Age of Empires to more recent ones like Supmreme Commander and Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.

That being said, the game itself is very enjoyable. The graphic-novel feel was blended really well with the story telling as we get access to the lesser known heros of the saga. It may have been milking the Lord of the Rings cow but overall, it is a nice experience.

"Battle for Middle-Earth II", It is a definite improvement on the Battle for Middle-Earth 1. However, the soloplay could have had a bit more variety. I am also disapointed that the campaign doesn't have include the Men of the West. But, the added races are a awesome improvement and made the game a lot more fun. The increase in units also added more stragigic play as well as the free-build ability especially in multiplayer. An overall great stategy game.
