"Virtual Vintage Racing"
Ratings relative to other racing games. No doubt if this is your thing you will like this game. It's not an arcade game like GTA or NFS but is intended and seems to succeed as simulation. Several help / assists make it easier for rookies. Extrordinarily difficult on maximum settings, but satisfying if you "dumb down" the competition a bit, otherwise the learning curve and intensity is extreme. On line play available but expect to contend with both obsessed and extremely skilled components as well as crash happy losers. I would consider this the most compelling and perhaps realistic racing simulation around. Fabulous 3D rendering really requires current high end hardware. Using with a MacBook Pro (XP on boot camp) it works really well. Hate to admit of how much time I've spent playing this. Way cheaper than running real race cars and a lot safer. Works great with the Logitech G25. Problems: Missing online code available from manufacturer via e-mail. Starforce copy protection is annoying (requires original disk in drive) but has not caused any problems that I am aware of.

"GT Legends"
GT Legends is a racing simulation that is based on the FIA GTC and TC leagues. What this means is that you get real world, present day tracks and old school autos to tear around them in. The graphics are very good and the sound is amazingly good on a decent sound system. The trck selection is very good and varied. The same can be said for the car selection.

The game is heavy on the realism so if you are a fan of arcade racers it may not be for you. Though there is a career type mode where you have to run short championships to unlock tracks and earn money for new cars a la Gran Turismo. This system has been heavily criticized by sim enthusiasts but it gives the game a sense of purpose and truthfully its a lot of fun as well. If you don't like it you can search GT Legends forums for a fix that unlocks everything without having to do the championships.

To play this game a steering wheel is a must. Although you can set it up for the keyboard or a controller neither does the game justice. Any steering wheel will do but I would recommend one with at least a shifter because it just doesn't feel right using panel shifters with these old cars, and frankly its alot of fun pumping the clutch and changing gears. If you have a force feed back wheel then you are in for a treat as it really adds to the game.

The multiplayer component is easy to use although there doesn't seem to be alot of activity. Might have somthing to do with time zones as if you visit the GT Legends forums there are plenty of posts about online races. Just have to find a good group to race with I guess.

Overall I would recommend this game to anyone who really likes racing games.

"GT Legends Great Fun"
I am an older guy who can remember these great cars from the 60's and the races they ran. This is a terrific game and great fun. It installed and ran without a hitch (except I had to call the company to get the online code - a real person answered the phone and sent me the code immediately - amazing customer service). I am very pleased with this game and can't believe you can get such a quality game for such a low price.

"REALISTIC DRIVING EXPERIENCE"
Outstanding! The copy protection kind of stinks but the software itself is GREAT! Very, very realistic driving experience. On-screen performance matches the true vehicle's performance. Many customizaton options. I did end up downloading a "cheat" to give me more options rather than win them racing 4 cylinder econo-racers but the overall experience is outstanding! I would highly recommend this software to any racing enthusiast!

"Missing the online registration code"
This is a cool game in a lot of ways. I was jazzed about it because of the era it represents. But the complexity and inscrutability of the setup menus is somewhat offputting.

The huge disapointment, however, is this: The online registration code is missing. Utterly missing. And there is no resource available on the net to help. The U.S.A. help number is disconnected. You will not be able to play online. Period. The developer's forums are full of posts about this problem. No resolution.... Beware.

Demand more of the makers of the products you purchase. This is extremely bad.

"GTLegends preservation", Thanks to this edition is possible to continue to play GTLegends in case of damage of old 10Tacle edition, as in my case, Thanks, the delivery fantastic but expensive

"Good Buy", When I rec'd the game I thought, your usual driving game with ok options. I was presently surprised that this game is not for everyone. You will need to concentrate and learn the game in order to obtain all of 90 cars! The realism and graphics are amazing. Good buy.

"Great time with this game !!!", I was looking for a game that had the old 70's Trans Am race cars in it. While this game does not have those specific cars, the ones that it does have are very well done, and with the availability of many of the old tracks in the US via several race game websites, it is possible to come pretty close to simulating the Trans Am races. With all of the car and track dynamics that this game uses, it really is less of a game and more of a simulation. The great old American cars, Vettes and Mustangs, are real beasts to drive, while the European cars, the Lotuses and such are much more refined and handle smoother, very much like the real cars do. I did a little extra research and figured out how to create and add my own custom skins into the game which gives it a little more personal feel. I am playing now with adding in new cars that do not exist in the original game such as a Camaro or Challenger. We'll see how that goes, although it is possible as others have done so :) The only reason that I did not give this game 5 stars is that it is very difficult to play with just the keyboard or game pad. I was able to play, but the experience left something to be desired. I ended up spending about a hundred bucks for the Logitech Momo wheel and pedals and this GREATLY improved the play and feel of the game. I highly recommend this game, but for the fullest experience, you need a wheel and pedals and if you don't have them, which I didn't, it is an extra expense.

"beware of Starforce copy protection", Do yourself a favor and do an online search for "Starforce copy protection" before you install this game on your PC. Also, there's an earlier review that gives a lot of the same information you can go find yourself. Bottom line: this game will install drivers on your PC (without asking or telling you) that interfere with your own legitimate use of your own devices. Further, uninstalling the game won't remove them. They open up big security holes too. Nasty stuff. Think twice.

"GT Legends", I found GT Legends to be a very realistic game. Plenty of user controlled variables. Tracks, at least the ones I could get to, were well represented and realistic. While I found the graphics quality good, the overall presentation was somewhat plain. I would have expected a little more "punch" to the visual representation of the tracks.

I was quit disappointed with the fact that so few tracks are available at the start. I am a firm believer that if I paid for the whole game I should have access to the whole game no matter what my skill level. This idea of having to find cheat codes to play the whole game is a bunch of bull. Finally, 3 CD'S is a hassle why not a DVD option.

"GT Legends Review", SimBin makes an excellent simulator. This game has brought me back to days days of yesteryear in great delight. The physics, sounds, and graphics are top notch. The game is fun and the ranks seriously tough. Online capabilities are fine except you have to unlock cars and tracks through the game, which could take weeks.

"Wish it would run smoother at full details..", I have GTR also, and it runs much better on my system than GTL does. With GTL they have raised the bar as far as system requirements. The old 128mb on video no longer will do the job..

I think it's just fine as long as I set up the races myself and limit the number of Ai to about 8-10 (MOST tracks) but if you run the "Challenges" (which you need to do to make money to buy cars and unlock tracks) it is written to include as many as 23 Ai in some of them and the FPS can drop out the bottom when you need it the least.

Yes, GT"R" will have some stutter now and then, but nothing like GT"L" is doing on the same PC. AND, with everything turned down too..

Even worse.. FPS swing from 80 to 10 while you're in a Challenge making it very hard to even finish a race let alone WIN.

I'll admit, my video card is a couple of years old now (ATI 9800 pro) but I really thought it would run as well as GTR.

Just fine if you limit Ai and graphics,(when outside Challenges) lots of fun with retro cars.

Running on a P4 3ghz, 1024mb 400 Crucial-3200 ram, ATI 9800 Pro AIW,

GTL Will make a great sim for my NEXT system I guess.

Update:
5% CPU overclocking helped a bunch with smoothness.. but still has some slow downs now and then. I'm sure latest video card would do wonders for it.

Update 2;

Pulled out the ATI 9800 pro and installed a GeForce 7600 GS OC 512mb card & doubled the RAM to 2GB
Just what it needed ! Runs well with lots of detail..

"Getting the power down....", This is no GTR, but it shouldn't be either.
Being a huge Simbin fan I have to say the GTR series are still the best.

Although there are times when GT Legends historic cars can be quite the challenge, and really a blast to drive....and in the end, thats what its all about.

"can we have some aussie cars for once", Thats really my only complaint with this game , every time you buy a racing game the cars all seem to be the same . Being in Australia , we had our own fast cars , the Falcon GTHO Phase 111, the HK Monaro GTS and who could forget the Torana GTR/XU1 , Ok this might mean nothing to someone over in the USA or England . But they where supercars in their day ,that said its still a great game for all petrol heads old and young a like

"A top notch racing game!", At last, a company that can put out serious racing games like the now-defunct Papyrus (Grand Prix Legends, Nascar Racing 2003). This game and GTR, also put out by SimBin, will keep PC gearheads busy with endless tweaking abilities, online racing and endless challenges that never get old. It is also easy to get into as a novice in the rookie mode, while the Papyrus games had a punishing learning curve. Heck, my 6 year old loves this game! I though I wound never see a good PC racing game again, seeing that they will never be "blockbusters" like Doom, etc. and make loads of money.

I too was concerned with the "Starforce" copy protection, but, after 3 months of use, I have had no hardware/software problems, although I hate swapping discs in and out of the CD drive. I can't find a no CD patch for this one.

My rig runs this nicely at 12x7, 32 bit, 2x antialiasing. DX9 mode.

3ghz P4, nvidia 6600GT (128MB video ram) 1 ghz ram.
