"Works as expected with proper software"
I am a recent Windows convert (to an iMac). I love my iMac but was not crazy about the Apple Mighty Mouse. Unfortunately, there do not seem to be a lot of alternatives. The Razer seemed like a nice choice. A mouse that was highly configurable, worked with the Mac OS and had a nice scroll wheel and that most important right-click button. OSX has right-click menus so to me it seems a right-click button just makes life easier. After receiving the Razer I was initially frustrated after loading the included software drivers. The mouse worked but was not configurable. When that option was clicked, it produced a error because the driver was not written for Intel hardware. Fortunately, there is a new driver on the Razer site--v1.6.7 which did the trick. Now all is good. I like the feel of the mouse and it does have numerous configuration options for those who want precise settings--so I recommend this as a nice alternative to the Mighty Mouse.

"You need this upgrade if you own a Mac"
Clearly the reviews for this product here are mixed. I chalk it up to personal preference and the range of platform and OS variations being run today.

But if you're a Mac user here's the bottom line: there aren't many good mice (mouses?) available for the Mac and while this one is not perfect, it is a HUGE upgrade over that abomination, the Mighty Mouse.

By not perfect, I mean the cable is a little long and the I'll agree with other reviewers who say that the side (flank) buttons are a little difficult to differentiate and engage. But they are so way easier to engage than the Mighty Mouse. The contact points on the Razer Pro are minimalist and slick so movement is very smooth and precise.

Most important, the primary and secondary buttons are well differentiated compared to the "uni-button" on the mighty mouse which is a bad joke.

Anyway, it takes a little trial-and-error to dial the thing in, but if you use your Mac a lot, that's little price to pay for all the ease, performance and functionality this mouse provides.

"Excellent mouse"
Razer's ProSolutions v1.6 Mouse is an excellent piece of hardware. It is highly accurate and very comfortable. It is also one of the few ambidextrous mice that I know of. I use this with my Apple Power Mac G5 and I far prefer to Apple's mice. I highly recommend this mouse, it is so far flawless.

"Good performance, some flaws"
I like the mouse, I find it comfortable to use and the "sensitivity adjust on the fly" is really handy. The side buttons are kind of awkward to use, but I've gotten used to it and don't feel like I'll get RSI from using it. The weight seems just right, and the Teflon glides are nice (i have not had to clean mouse-goo off the bottom of it in the two months i've been using it).

My real complaint is that the scroll wheel glows bright blue. It is very bright and you can't turn it off. There is nothing you can do about it except throw a towel over it or unplug it if you want your room dark. It is that bright. I watch movies on my computer and find it terribly annoying. I am tempted to disassemble the unit and find a way to permanently shut it off.

Update: I have, in fact, taken it apart and disabled all the LEDs inside. Now its *really* dark, since the sensor uses infrared or some other non-visible light. It was very easy to make the modification.

"Would be great but has technical problems."
The mouse sensitivity randomly goes back to the lowest setting, even with the newest drivers installed. There is a weird disconnect between the Razer control panel sensitivity and Apple's Mouse system preference. Both have to be set to highest sensitivity for the mouse to perform at highest sensitivity. The problem is that Apple's system preference randomly resets to the slowest setting in-game. This makes the mouse useless since I have to minimize the game to reset it.

"Much better than the Apple Mighty Mouse", I needed to replace my Apple Mighty Mouse because it kept sticking, and the roller ball had many intermittent problems. I researched what the best replacement would be on a mac. Hands down everyone seemed to recommend the Razer v1.6. I received mine yesterday, plugged it in, downloaded the latest driver from Razer and it works like a charm. I was able to program the buttons to do everything the Mighty Mouse did and more. I like the lights, I like the way it feels, and I like the way it performs. I most likely will replace all of my mice with this one after testing it out more!

"Great Mouse!", I now have 2 of these mice - one for each computer. The light weight and responsiveness make this a perfect companion to large displays like my 30 inch Apple monitor. I use Steer Mouse to control the buttons and acceleration instead of the supplied mouse software.

"Mac users beware.", This mouse is marketed as a high precision mouse with good drivers for Apple Computers. This mouse fails on both counts. The drivers only partially work with several newer operating systems. The most annoying drivers related problem is that every time you plug in this mouse or restart your computer, the drivers will reset the system sensitivity to slowest. This means that when the computer is started, the user has the chore of resetting their sensitivity to a comfortable level. I can tell you firsthand that both 10.5.2 and 10.4.11 are not fully compatible with Razer's drivers. If you check their website's list of drivers for this mouse you will see that they only offer drivers for 10.4 and 10.5. This means that you may need to downgrade your operating system to use this mouse.
Software problems aside, the mouse I received also has very inconsistent clicking especially in the left button. It requires multiple clicks before it registers anything, sometimes it double clicks things after one click, once in a great while it will perform up to par. The side buttons are also poorly placed. the ones on the right side of the mouse are difficulty to reach, this reduces the usable number of mouse buttons to 5 counting the wheel.
I do not reccomend buying this mouse to anyone, Mac users in particular.

"Excellent mouse for PC or Mac", I purchased this aesthetically pleasing mouse about 1.5 years ago. Although it did take a few days to acclimate to, I have enjoyed its precision and comfort through many, many hours of use. It looks great and functions beyond expectation.

The only minor setback (in my opinion) are the thumb buttons. First of all, I'm glad they exist (unlike on the Copperhead model) since I use thumb buttons frequently for both browsing and gaming. I'm used to them now, but at first I considered them too small and conservative. The buttons themselves are very thin and requires a precise touch. However, I have no problem now that I'm used to them.

A note on drivers: I've heard quite a few complains about Razer drivers. My advice to you is this: don't install them. I have used the default Windows and OSX drivers for this mouse and have never had a problem. The sensitivity is still there. The buttons are mappable either in-game or from within Windows. No problems whatsoever on that topic.

Conclusion: excellent mouse from a user that has certainly put it through the flames over the past 1.5 years. Get one!

"Doesn't work in so many ways, it's almost impressive", Cons:
The side buttons are absurdly small, fiddly, too close to the back.

The programmable side buttons won't learn show desktop or task switch macros because, if you press them in the programming menu, your PC will either show desktop or task switch.

I have programmed backspace for one of the buttons for web-browsing. It doesn't work but pressing backspace on my keyboard does.

When I turn the PC on, I sometimes have to unplug and replug the mouse otherwise it remains 'off'.

It's too small and flat. The Microsoft/Razer Habu is about perfect in this regard - if you really want a Razer mouse, I recommend that. The buttons programme correctly on the Habu as well.

It doesn't work on my desk - maybe something to do with the white surface. So I have an optical mouse for which I have to buy a mousepad.

It feels cheap.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Advice for Macs:", OK, so some of the Razer mouses get better reviews, but let's face it, this one looks better with your iMac.

If you don't need 57 buttons or whatever this has, then DON'T install the drivers!!!!!

The drivers are horrible and convoluted, and will only make it impossible to get settings to a usable level....and I honestly mean impossible. I worked for an hour trying to get it right, and wound up having to use Desinstaller (an app that removes stubborn drivers, etc. like this) to get it out of my system.

If you only use left-click, right-click, and scroll wheel, then you'll love this mouse. I do miss scrolling sideways like Apple's Mighty Mouse does, but this is far more responsive, and you will probably like it a lot.

If you want 18 buttons, you may want to find another gaming mouse with better drivers.

"Good Mouse!",
This is a really nice mouse. I have tried many different mice over the years and this one has a great feel. I highly recommend it.

"Very precise", I got this mouse purely for the purpose of editing portraits in photoshops. Making all those faces "just right" requires near flawless execution and on that front, this mouse delivers. Its design may be a little too ambidextrous for some and its precision requires a learning curve (but when have we become afraid of learning something new?), but I can confidently say that this is the best mouse I've ever used.

It is also worthy to note that the cable for this mouse is 8 ft. long, a little too long for those looking for a notebook mouse. Other than that, it's light, fast, and accurate down to the pixel.

"Very Nice Mouse", Havn't had any problems with this mouse in 9 months of use.

"Garbage software with no tech support", I had high hopes for this mouse. I ordered it for a Mac. It came with an installation CD but the mac software has no installer or seemingly any way to install it. I downloaded the latest from the internet which seemed to work. I went to the help button within the preference pane, and guess what, no actual help file installed! I emailed tech support, which was not easy to find on their website. 4 days-no response! I am just trying to get it to do what the mouse I have been using for the past 9 years could do, program the side buttons to do back and forward for internet browsing. Can't for the life of me figure it out, so I will probably go back to using USB overdrive, and the mouse does not feel the same with it. It has 7 buttons but I can't program them to do what I want so what is the point? The preference pane is also difficult to understand, and has some settings without any explanation of what they actually do. The mouse itself works ok and feels ok. I may send this one back.
