"A Fresh RTS"
different units in this game are very well balanced out. For this reason, it is difficult to produce only one unit and try to overrun the opponent. The method of reinforcement is also different than anything I've seen before. Units no longer appear outside their respective structure but can be brought out onto the field at different locations, changing the tactical dynamics of the game. The ability to hold units in reserve without having them take up population points also changes the dynamic. Different units can be used better tactically because of this.

Overall the game is very enjoyable and well worth the price. It is surprisingly good for a Star Wars franchise game.

"Tough Game"
The graphics on this game are excellent and the play interesting but I cannot get past the 4th scenario even on the easy setting. I think the game is meant for younger players with better hand and eye coordination.

"Empire at War? way better than galactic battlegrounds. "
Alright this game is fricken awesome! You can live battles and command your units on land or space and across the galaxy. The campaigns are fairly fun and you can build up space and ground forces on planets. Each planet will give you more credits (a.k.a.) money every galactic day. In the campaigns you can play as the rebels of the empire. Both sides are very fun.In galactic conquest and in the campaign for the empire after you build it a legendary battle station the size of a moon will be in your command. THE DEATH STAR!!! You can destroy planets with the death star. If you're in a space battle with it you have to fight off the enemy until the death star is in range of the planet. Once it's in range you can fire the weapon and watch the fireworks. You can also do skirmish battles on land and space. The online is very fun and most of them are pretty nice people.
The servers aren't too bad and are very fun. All in all Go and buy this game you can get the Best of PC pack which has this game and it has battlefront 1 jedi outcast Knights of the old republic and republic commando. it costs $40. This game would be a very great christmas gift new years gift birthday gift etc.

Pros-
. good graphics
. fun to play
. you can use star destroyers
. It's star wars
. there are no cons!

"Good, Could have been better."
I enjoy the Star Wars games because I like being invited to hang out in the George Lucas's Star Wars universe. It has a nostalgic tie on my childhood that is hard to beat (the first movie I saw by myself in the movie theater when it came out in the 70's).

It was not buggy, and it ran well on my middle of the line Dell Dimension E510, bought in May 06.

I liked that there is no tedious resource harvesting like in Star Craft and similar games. You still needed to build industry, but it ran in the background churning out the credits. I would have liked some more planetary graphics to show the development of this, akin to the city view in the Civilization games, but that would be more for eye candy I suppose.

I like those in depth graphics for the escapism that games provide. I like to feel immersed in the universe.

I thought working on the Strategic map was a tad boring. If there is a game designer out there that cares, I wish it could have been more like Galactic Civilization: Dread Lords. That has a lovely strategic map.

Loved the space combat, except the limited starship counts (I want more warriors in the battle, like Total War Series). AI was not so challenging, but fun, not overwhelming graphics, and being able to watch it in cinematic was amusing, although there should be a reply feature so you can play it, then watch it. Again, if the game designers are listening. Add this kind of Space Combat to Galactic Civilizations (which only has the cinematic element to the space battles)

I want a game that has the best elements of previous games. This game has some good ones. Still waiting for that 'perfect' game.

"Sweet RTS"
This is a Really good game. I've played my fair share of Command and Conquer games, and this has them beat... bad. I like the fact that you can manage your own planets and defences, and I really like the hardpoints system (one where you can take out certain weapons/ vital systems on the ships). This game is also really good for gamers who are trying out the RTS genre, other than the fact that time does seem to move a little fast for everything that needs to be done during a battle. The campaign mode is excellent for learning how to play the game, and the games creators did a really good job about keeping it challenging (and perhaps a little frusterating) but without making it too dificult. Galactic Conquest is a different story, however, you will need to do a lot of pausing to keep up with the computer on the galactic map. I have not tried the multiplayer yet, so I can't speak for that. One of the biggest things that has frustrated me is the fact that the AI is a little, what's the word, strange. For instance, if the enemy attacks you, sometimes it will attack you with a crap load of X-wings or infantry. I have also had issues with my own units. Like, I would tell a ship to attack something that is within range of it's weapons, having destroyed something right next to it, and my ship responds by flanking it, or simply turning around and running. All of that could probably be fixed with an update or two. I give it five fun stars because this game kept me entertained for 4 months straight as my only game. I only give it 4 overall because the AI is a little funky, and when all your ships turn around and run in the crucial moment of a battle, it tends to aggrevate the best of us. I look forward to the Forces of Corruption Expantion.

What our customer's say!

"Game is Awesome!!!", I'm a star wars freak! And for me there isn't much more fun than marching a group of AT-AT's into battle, or Sending a fleet of star destroyers to crush the enemy's defense. The game is great. The sound gets 100/5 stars just as you would expect from a star wars game. Visuals get high score! AI only gets a 4/5 because it's so mixed! Sometimes they will charge at you and sometimes they will just sit in a corner like your not even there. But for glitches and bugs like this just download game patches! The land battles are great and the space battles are Epic and scenic. You control almost every detail...where to land those ships, where that soldier moves, and best, What planet to blow up with the mighty death star! Overall the game is mind-blowing! I'd give it 10,000,000,000 out of 5 stars!

"Empire at War a Great Game", So far I only play the tutorials and one mission but the game is amassing, the graphics the control. You are in the world of Star Wars is very addicting and very fun I really recommend this job, buy it.

"A delight for RTS & Star Wars fans.", This game has all the elements of a good real-time strategy game and most of the heroes from the early Star Wars movies. It also has a smart storyline which connects the prequels to the original films. There are both space and land battles, but the space ones are far more elaborate and fun. The only problem with this game is the mutliplay. It uses the Gamespy network, which is notoriously unreliable, and doesn't force patch compliance. This means that there are usually very few players online sharing the same version and connections are laggy or simply not available. Just the same, this player fully enjoyed the single-player campaign.

"Star Wars Strategy as it should be", For those not familiar with Star Wars strategy games, Empire at War combines the best aspects of all the previous titles. It is a definite improvement over Rebellion, incorporating part of its interface and making it more accesible, as well as simplifing many of the aspects of galactic managment. The tactical space battles are superb becoming by far the most entertaining aspect of the game. The tactical ground mode is also OK, using simplified resource managment as in Force Commander but with a friendlier interface such as in Galactic Battlegrounds. This is the Star Wars strategy game fans have been waiting for more than a decade.

"More Star Wars", My 15 year old can't get enough Star Wars. He is happy with this one and there is an expansion pack available, too. The price is a huge savings over my retail store finds- love that!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Boring....................................................", when i first purchased this game I thought it would have action not strategy. all you do is command not live the battles. When I first played it i nearly fell asleep. Dont buy this crappy game.

"Not terrible", I had high expectations for this game... but I think it falls short. The campaigns are a bit rigid and don't leave much room for player improvisation. For actual battles, an organized way of using units tactically is very difficult to come by.
Most unfortunately the opponent's position, strength, movement, etc. is almost always completely shrouded! Droids, smugglers, and bounty hunters do little to remedy this fact... Consequently there is not much strategy going on here; just build up as big a force, as quickly as possible and be ready for an attack at any time. Even after an attack has begun, there is so little info. regarding the other side you can't do much in the way of tactics.
On the plus side, the cinimatic views are very cool, and the grafics are good, and Star Wars characters add a mystique to the whole thing... If you like being the brains of your game I wouldn't pick this one up.

"Fun Game", I've played this game at my friends house a lot because I love star wars and RTS games. THis is one of the best I've played. I think that a lot of that has to do with the space battles because they're awesome. If they weren't there the game would just be like another Command and Conquer game. I was really good at the economy and maneging planets because I also own Rome Total
War and I knew how to do it. This game Rocks

"Good first version", The game play is pretty good. The graphics are workable. It is a little too easy on the easy level. It does well accessing the Star Wars world.

"Empire at War", The graphics leave a little to be desired, but overall the game is fun to play. My kids really get into the battles.
