"like the hammer, hate the installation", The hammer is a great product, but the installation is bogus. First, the recommended velcro doesn't work because there isn't enough surface area on the back for any velcro to attach, and, in fact, parts of the back are concave which makes the velcro impossible. There are, however, holes for a screw installation. I was able to remove my center console and attach it with three screws, without any damage to any electrical system in the car. Now that it's attached, I'm happy, but the directions were a little lame with regard to installation. Otherwise, 4 stars!

"Just being prepared", This is one product that I hope I never have to use, but it is well-made, sturdy, and small enough to keep handy in the car. We purchased one for each of our vehicles and also one for our son.

"hope I never need it", I hope I never need this item. However, I am glad I have it. I bought it because I saw it reviewed on television and decided it was worth it to have this item on hand.

"Peace of mind.", We have three of these handy little devices. Hopefully we will never ever have to use one of them, but it gives some peace of mind having them available. When we received our first one (we only bought one to start with), we took it to a local junk yard (they guy who owns it likes my friend and me) and he let us test it on several trashed out cars. The hammer works perfectly and can take a side or rear window out in a flash and the cutting end works great on seatbelts. Actually, it was sort of fun breaking out windows, something I have not done in years. Anyway, it worked well, so we bought one for both my cars and my friend bought one for hers. I would buy one for my sister, but she would spend twenty minutes trying to figure out which end to use on the window, and by then it would probably be too late. This is one of those things you hope you will never need, but if you do need it, it is sure nice to know it is there and that it actually works.

"lifehammer", I wanted to have something in my car if I had to break a window so I decided to buy lifehammer. It is made very well. I hope that I don't ever have to use it.

"Hammer - small", Not a big hammer but about right for storing in the car. Hope it will do the job if needed.

"I think a must have for your car ", When I first saw this I kinda wondered but after reading the reviews, and the low price it is I think it could be a life saver for me, or someone else. I am all about preparing for emergency's and I am glad I bought this and have in my truck now.

"good "non-complainable" gift item! :) ", well, if you do buy it for someone, chances of them complaining against it will be minimal for sure. But like most people here have written, Pray they are never in a situation for it to be used. Sometimes, it can just be another one of novelty items that end up in your workshop.

I decided to try out the effectiveness on a window pane that already had a deep crack across it, and since it was going to be disposed off, decided to use it on the same, the hammer would create a localized stress point that increases and the shattering of the pane would occur after a few hits. But these are ideal conditions with all comfort and angles for hitting, unsure of real time conditions and if its all the same, rather not find out.

".....it's all about insurance and preparedness.", Well made.
Real review is yet to come...and I hope that never happens.
Keeping it in the right place..easily accessable would be key in a real emergency.
It is possible that this item could have other uses...ie. cutting string...breaking other glass...maybe a little ice.

"Too Short and Small", I purchased this emergency hammer to replace a freebie I picked up somewhere. I am really disappointed. The hammer is dainty. I am sure it will work so I am giving it 2 stars. I would not buy another.
