"Very good for the $$$"

I have three cars (all older and cheapos, but in good shape) and none, obviously, have MP3 players...but now, I can listen to my IPod in all three, thanks to this Griffin Roadmate. It was a great purchase.

Sound reproduction was better than I thought it would be....just a tad fuzzy every now and then, but nothing major.

I'm older and have no patience for the cr*p on commercial radio, so I just set the IPod on shuffle, and listen to a 3300-plus song library everywhere I go.

"Better than the iTrip"
I used to own a Griffin iTrip, but unfortunately it got stolen out of my car. So I had to buy a new one. While looking on Amazon, I stumbled upon this device. And by the looks of it, I thought that this was exactly what I needed! It mounts iPod in place next to my radio, which makes it easier to work with. Also, as with the iTrip, if I'm going up a hill, there's the danger of the iPod falling off of my dashboard. No more with the RoadTrip. Also, the sound is better than the iTrip, and there's little to no interference, and I live in Philadelphia, where it's pretty hard to find an empty radio station. So if you're out in the middle of nowhere, it's gonna be even better for you! Not to say the the iTrip wasn't a great device, It certainly came in handy for me. But I'm gonna have to say that the RoadTrip is a far superior product, and would recommend it to anybody looking for something like this for their iPod.

"Very pleased with this"
I just bought the other day and I am very pleased. I had another FM modulator that did nothing except blow static through my speakers. I was a little skeptical about this one but gave it a try. I can honestly say the quality is unbelieveable, no static, perfect reception just all around great. Only downfall is that it is a little bulky but it does work perfect!

"Only works in cars with integrated antennas"
I picked this product as a gift for my sister who is in love with her iPod. We're talking a 60+ grandma here -- not a teenager. I spent several hours researching, reading reviews, and trying to determine which would be the best product. I picked this one because it was supposed to work well in a Saturn which is what they have. Unfortunately, it worked very well in my Highlander Hybrid with an integrated antenna but did not work well at all in the Saturn. Lots and lots of static in the Saturn to the point that even people like us who aren't audio snobs couldn't stand it. So, if you have a car with an integrated antenna located in the windshield; i.e., it's directly over the radio and so is your power source, then this is a great product. If you have a car with an antenna located on the rear or side of the car, forget it.

"Save on batteries"
We had been using a Belkin to connect and communicate our Ipod and XM Radio to our cars and boats. The triple A batteries would run out quickly which is a big expense and the connection would be fuzzy without always having strong batteries. The Griffin Transmitter has eliminated all batteries and the expense in addition, we always have a good connection.

What our customer's say!

"After using three different FM transmitters, this is the best", I bought this years ago and it was a great product. I hardly ever had any radio interference, even on stations that had existing signals - as soon as I turned this on, the radio went totally silent and I could enjoy the music from my Ipod. Then one day I was being a bit of a clutz and leaned over my seat and cracked the adapter plug, which cut all the wiring inside it. Stupidly, I replaced it with a cheap Belkin transmitter from Wal-Mart. Bad move. I got interference everywhere, on any and every frequency. No matter where it was in my car.

Then I bought a Satechi 6-in-1 FM Transmitter. It worked better than the cheap Belkin one, but not quite as good as this Griffin RoadTrip one; furthermore, my 30 gig video Ipod weighed too much for it and it kept flopping over if I hit some bumps on the road. Satechi's trasmitters are not held by a firm plastic cradle like this one does, and even though you could screw the joint on the Satechi one really tight, it will eventually loosen up and fold over on you again. After multiple times of the Satechi brand flopping over on me, it broke completely.

Hindsight 20/20, I should have replaced my first Griffin RoadTrip with another one.

"GREAT FOR THE PRICE", THIS PRODUCTS WORKS GREAT FOR THE PRICE... THIS IS MY SECOND ON AND THE SCREWS KEEP GOING UN DONE... NO BIG DEAL... BUT THEY WORK GREAT AND WILL KEEP BUYING IT

"Excellent Product, just one word of warning", This is one of the best FM transmitters I have used. I have tried several others but none compare in quality. The transmission is strong enough that even in large cities you don't get interference from other cars or radio stations.

My one word of warning, it will not charge the new 2nd Gen iTouch, but that seems to be common with many existing iPod docks since Apple dropped firewire charging capabilities in the new 2nd Gen devices.

"Best FM Trans ever made!!!!", Even from the same brand products are not so great as the buddy here , works everywhere!!!! i tried all around, like 5. Just go for it

"Not good in NYC", I tried this for my often commutes from NYC to central NJ. The theory is that you can select a new radio frequency as you move from one zone to another. However, the entire dial seems to be filled up in NYC, so any "open" frequency will be surrounded by another "real" station, and you are able to find an open one, as you drive, it invariably provides a short window of time before having to try find a new frequency. It just didn't work for me in NYC and immediately surrounding areas. The product it self seems fine, however. But I did end up returning it.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Not bad", Not too bad after you find a clear station. Did spend a lot of time messing with it to get a clear signal.

"iPod Road Trip ", Every year we take a week-long trip to Wisconsin to visit family. Every year we had packed several traveling "suitcases" of CDs. You know the ones: Case Logic 125 or 250 monsters. Yes, we are both music geeks, but with only partially overlapping tastes.

We both picked up 2Gb iPod nanos in the past two years. No, they don't come nearly close to carrying as many tunes as the CD cases, but one of the problems with CDs in the car is that--if we had to admit it--we really only want to hear a couple of songs off each album, and some stuff really doesn't translate to long car rides.

About a week before we left, I suggested that we bag the traveling library idea and just load playlists on the iPods. Hers for her mix, mine for mine. The only problem was that our car has a pre-MP3 ready CD player. We had tried the transmitter game before and not been happy. I won't slam that brand here; it was a portable and worked for a couple of weeks, but only cost a few dollars. I think it came as a promotion with one of our iPods.

I read and researched transmitter/chargers for iPods on the Internet in general and Amazon in specific. With all of the negative product reviews on pretty much any device, I was hesitant, but felt that the Griffin 4031-RDGC gave us the best shot.

It worked great! We only ever had to switch frequencies up or down 4 times in a week, never had any interference problems to speak of, and our trip always takes us through the entire Chicago metro area, from the south shores of Lake Michigan through the Northwest Tollway corridor up through Rockford and Madison before reaching our destination. I set it on 88.1 for most of the trip, moving to 88.3 now and again.

Now that we're back home, the RDGC has permanently been in the car, and there are no problems with vibration or reception. We're much happier with the music and our CDs are much happier not being slung around the car.Griffin 4031-RDGC RoadTrip FM Transmitter and Car Charger for iPod (Charcoal)

"Horrible Device", I was stoked to order this transmitter and was SO disappointed at the sound quality and static. It is definitely not worth the purchase. i'm super bummed.

"Not Bad", Purchased item after doing lengthy review of all options. Seemed like this would be the best fit for what I was looking for. The mount is great and the options even better. The one down size is the sound quality but I how figured that sound quality is always going to be an issue with radio devices. I live in CT and it is hard to find a station that is not in use or near a station that is in use. I have found a couple but nothing that last my entire drive of a whole ten minutes to work. This in my opinion is the best option for a radio device. I am now looking into just purchasing a radio that will plug in my MP3 directly so that I will not have to deal with radio stations. It seems like this is the direction everyone is going. My advice spend a little more and buy a new radio if it is an option, if not this is the best device out there.

"Don't Bother", This product is an OLD version. The sound quality is very bad. Could not find a channel that didn't have major background "static". The volume control was poor. Find another way to hook-up your iPod to your car stereo. We returned for a refund.
