"Much prefer this to "It's Deductible"", I am a TurboTax user which now has "It's Deductible" included as part of Intuit's overall Federal income tax calculation program. In the past I have found "It's Deductible" to be intuitive and comprehensive -- a breeze to use but this year there appears to have been some changes which have made it clumsy, difficult to read and navigate, and generally confusing. When I purchased DeductionPro as an alternative I was pleased to find a program that was actually pretty simple and easy to use. The only problem is that information compiled in DeductionPro only imports into TaxCut. So if you are a TurboTax user like me, you end up having to reenter alot of the same information from DeductionPro into TurboTax -- an extra annoying step but easier than trying to use "It's Deductible."

"This product saved me a bundle on my taxes!", Deduction Pro is great! I it is a breeze to install and use. I was able to enter the information for each item I was donating to local charities and it really added up! I was able to type in cash giving, mileage, and medical deductions as well. It not only gave you the total for the donations but it calculated how it would impact your tax liability. The 2005 version is not old, it is for 2005 or 2006. The program updates to the 2006 deduction rates via the internet. I hope they come out with a 2007-08 version!

"pathetic tech support", Like G. Lynde, the author of a previous review, I was a long-term user of Intuit's It's Deductible program, but was growing increasingly tired of Intuit's arrogance towards its customers. Their discontinuation of the desktop version and forcing of customers to use the on-line version caused me to switch to H&R Block's DeductionPro. However, I am having serious doubts about the wisdom of that move.

Things started out well, as I was able to enter in a rather long list of items that I donated to Goodwill. The problem came when I realized I had entered the wrong date for the donation. When I tried to edit the date, it actually erased all the previously entered info for the donation! Fortunately I have an automatic backup program that have saved a copy of the original, and I was able to restore it.

Problems intensified when I sent an email to tech support asking how to change the date without deleting all the data. The first response I got told my how to switch from the 2006 version of the program to the 2005 version -- not at all what I had asked. It is like the person on the other end only glanced at what I had written.

I responded to that email telling them that I did not want to change program years, but just change the date for a donation. The response I got seemed to state my problem accurately, but the solution I was given was to add or delete a charity name. There was no mechanism for editing the date there.

So I sent yet another email explaining that the solution did not work. The responder seemed to think that I wanted to delete a charity name, and proceeded to give me the exact same advice the previous person had. Plus the advice that if I deleted a charity to make sure and hand copy all the deduction information so I could re-enter it by hand!

Needless to say, I lost my patience at this point, and fired back a rather scathing email. And immediately thereafter I came here to post a warning so others might escape the problems I encountered by buying this dubious software with it's non-existent tech support.

"A Convert from ItsDeductible", I've used It's Deductible for several years. However, it seems that Intuit is ending the desktop version of the program and my impressions of the online version are INCREDIBLY POOR!

I bought DeductionPro to track my 2006 donations. I took a load of stuff to Goodwill on New Year's Day so that gave me a good opportunity to try out the program.

For those of you who have never used a deduction tracker, I want to tell you that they are absolutely incredible. The premise is that as a donor, you don't know the true value of the donated items. For example, what's an old shirt worth??? $1? I don't know. These programs do. The most important thing to do is to enter complete data throughout the year.

The interface for DeductionPro is very-good overall. I donated about 100 books, bedding, clothing, a fax machine, and a printer. The program surprised me with the depth of detail w/r/t the books. It had a dollar amount for both the fax machine and printer which were in the ballpark of what I'd have expected. Overall, I'd strongly recommend using this product.
