"Excellent portable I-pod player!!"
I was very impressed with the sound quality of this unit. It isn't the smallest unit, but it is small enough to be easily portable. The larger size (made up mostly of the speaker unit) allows for very good sound quality. The surface area of the speaker provides excellent frequency response, again, for a portable unit. It produces good volume, plenty enough that I can hear the music throughout my house when I am doing stuff. You are not going to power a huge back-yard BBQ or a basement dance party rave with this unit, nor will it replace my 200 watt stereo surround sound system (for when I really want to annoy the neighborhood), but this is a very fine portable I-pod player.

"Not the BEST sound quality"
I ordered this speaker for playback with my Ipod Video and for charging. It has a great look - everyone is always asking what it is! I also like the size... it is sleek and skinny. My complaint is with the sound. When I have people over - say 15 people - it doesn't have great LOUD sound. When I try try to turn it up loud, the speaker sounds like it is going to bust. Even when I'm just wanting to listen to it when I'm doing housework all around the house, I just don't think the quality of sound is great. My best friend has the Bose speaker docking station for her and her husbands ipods (video and regular), and it is amazing. I was hoping that mine would sound comparable (after reading the reviews), but the Kensington speaker does not even COMPARE to the Bose. We listen to their Bose in a HUGE room at every week with over 25 people in the room, and it sounds amazing... the base, mix, etc. I'd say the Kensington docking station/speaker is just fine for a one or two room purpose. But if you are looking for great quality sound, LOUD - don't get this. Otherwise - I haven't had any technical or other problems with it... I've had it about 6 months.

"Very Poor Sound Quality", I was really disappointed when I tried out this unit given the high rating others have given it. The sound is dull and without clarity. It is something I would expect from a clock radio with a big speaker. Don't buy this product if you want a player with high sound quality.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"We want another . . . ", We bought this as a gift for my father, and he loves it. He loves being able to charge his Ipod away from the computer and likes the sound it produces. He is so happy with this gift, that we are wanting one for ourselves.

"Nice design, poor sound quality", I bought these speakers on sale at 50% off ($75) and regret I did. They were to be an upgrade to my Altec Lansing inMotion speakers for iPod. In a side-by-side comparasin, the inMotion speakers are clearly superior (although half the size). In particular, the bass on the Kensington sounds muddy. They lack sound clarity and separation. If your top concern is for rugged speakers with a sleek design and iPod ready, you may want to consider these. If sound quality is a priority, I would recommend against the kensington. Its no surprise to me to see how far the price has dropped.

"sound quality not so great", i liked the size and price of this product, however once i received it it was not even close to the quality i expected. we have the JBL creature speakers for our mini and the quality of those are much better. we are going with the JBL on stage with the RF remote instead

"Surprising!", This is an edited review after a few months of use. We are truly happy with the performance of these speakers!

I must say I was skeptical of buying this system, since there were some mixed reviews. In any case, I purchased this item as a gift for my wife who owns an Ipod Nano. We were both surprised by the clarity of the sound and especially of how good the bass actually was for a speaker of that size. What is also surprising is the multidirectional sound feature of this speaker which fills even large rooms with high quality sounds. Be sure to adjust the equalizer on your Ipod to minimize undesired vibration.

I have listened to the Bose speaker system por the Ipod, and I'm sure that purchasing the Kensington speakers for far fewer dollars is a wise purchase, and you can be sure to enjoy almost as good sound quality with a much smaller investment!
