"first time it didn't work, 2nd try it worked but won't play on all DVD players", My grandmother died 11/19/07 and on Thanksgiving night 11/22/07 I stayed up all night scanning pictures of her from age 3 months until the week or so before her death. All my aunt and mom wanted me to do after the 7 hours of scanning pictures was to put together a DVD slideshow to play on the big screen TV at the funeral home. My NERO wasn't working properly so I downloaded this Arcsoft DVD slideshow and was up ALL NIGHT putting together a slideshow and then tried to burn it to DVD. It took an hour to "burn" to the DVD and I was beyond excited when it came to finally view the final product! But guess what?!? I put it in my DVD player and... NOTHING. There was nothing on the DVD! When the CD was burning, my computer/the Arcsoft program "acted" like the slideshow was burning onto the DVD but it obviously wasn't do anything.

I tried to play it on two different computers and...NOTHING. Needless to say I didn't have a DVD to take to my grandma's viewing which was at 4pm THAT day (11/23). I was so upset that I cried my eyes out and had to tell my mom and aunt that all I could do was to bring my laptop and just show the pictures off the hard-drive. My grandpa died only 8 weeks before my grandma and they had paid the funeral home to put together a slideshow of his life and that worked perfectly fine. I thought I'd save them $200+ bucks and do it myself, but it didn't work out.

However, the reason why I gave it 3 stars instead of 1 is because a few days after the funeral I tried it again and changed some options and burned it again and THIS TIME it worked!!!! I was VERY happy about this but I had to start it all over again. The only problem this time was that the slideshow I burned for my sister didn't play correctly (I haven't given any other copies away yet). My sister told me that it played in her DVD player BUT the pictures were all out of order, skipping around from birth to age 80, back to age 6, then to age 39, etc. It's ridiculous that it wouldn't keep the order I put them in, and in turn plays the pictures to the wrong songs. You don't want wedding pictures playing to a song that's meant for children, etc! I spent over 5 hours making this and it's VERY frustrating that it only works properly in a DVD player that says it plays DVD-R's etc. Mine plays all types of DVDs and MP3's and if you have this than you should be fine. Just remember before buying this product that your DVD player must have this capability. But remember, the DVD's should play fine on computers (if it actually burns to the DVD) because most computers can play DVD-Rs. Good luck!!!

"ArcSoft DVD SlideShow", Putting together a thoughful slide shoe takes time and effort. Such was so in my case and when assembling my show in ArcSoft DVD Slideshow, I was very impressed in how it was coming together....until I tried to burn it to a DVD....IT DID NOT WORK !

After several attempts, I went to ArcSoft's website and submitted my question, which of course, was answered by an automated service. It told me that I was using an outdated version 1.1.1.111 and I should be using version 1.1.1.114, and gave me instructions on downloading the update. These instructions were of no value. I then tried to query them again; this time getting no answer.

Needless to say, I won't be buying anymore of ArcSoft's products.

"Only works on some DVD players", ArcSoft's DVD SlideShow is a good program that is very easy to use BUT it doesn't work on all DVD players. I spent a couple of days putting together a fifteen minute slide show for my wedding and was devistated when it didn't work on either of my two DVD players. After waiting for 20 minutes on hold for technical support they told me that I needed to check my DVD manuals to see if they support DVD-R or DVD+R media. NOWHERE in the software specs does it say this!!! If so I would have checked and saved my money.

I still give it one star because if it did work on my DVD player it would have been a great program. Very user friendly and easy to use (which is good because it doesn't come with an instruction manual). If your DVD player supports the correct formats you'll probably be happy with it but remember, if you take it somewhere else it may not work and you will be very disappointed.
