"Waste of time and money!", I own this software and it has caused me nothing but trouble. If you feel like spending 6 hours on only 5 minutes of video because it keeps freezing up and crashing then this product is for you. It is a waste of money because software is practically impossible to return even with a receipt.

I recently purchased Roxio MyDVD 9 Studio Premier and I DEFINITELY recommend buying that video editing software instead.

Anyway, this product is a piece of junk and I feel very strongly about that.

DON'T BUY IT!!

"Will make you put holes in your walls!", I reviewed Pinnacle Studio 9 a few years back, now I find a moment of de ja vu setting in. The exact same problem that was catastrophic to one's final project happens with Studio 10- "Your project folder could not be found. This project will not be opened."

After I spent 10 hours editing some priceless footage I successfully burned a DVD to find that half of the footage was missing on the DVD. I went back to re-edit and diagnose the problem when I got this ludicrous message that I had the project folder was missing?! Really? Studio 10 can and will arbitrarily delete its own folders.

Yes, the program is intuitive and easy to use as all Studio program have been. However, this is by far the MOST buggy aggravating editing program to date. I can't believe Pinnacle is a subsidiary of AVID. At least in AVID it allows you to create back-ups of every file including title slides, and it has an attic where you always have your bins backed-up. In Studio if something goes wrong with your project file EVERYTHING is SCREWED!

Damn Pinnacle to hell for making such a poor program. I wasted $100 on this garbage and I actually put a hole on my wall after losing all my priceless footage on Studio 10 to a buggy programming.


"Very annoying", I just tried the trial, and I will NOT buy it. It's difficult to accomplish the things I can easily do in Movie Maker. And there's no visible way of uninstalling it. It doesn't show up in the Control Panel Add and Remove Programs. There's no uninstall file in the Pinnacle folders. A trial you can't get rid of? I'm in good company with the negative recommendations.

"Avoid unless you have a new, fast computer", Perhaps if you have a brand-new, very fast computer, this program would be OK but if you have a slower, older computer - forget about it. It runs on my two year old PC (XP-SP2) but not well enough to use. I am going to uninstall it and return to my old ULead Video Studio program.


"Freezes, Crashes, Elevates Blood Pressure!", I've worked with various Pinnacle Studio versions since last decade, and they've all had two things in common:

1. When the program works, it's superb.

2. The other 50% of the time, it crashes frequently, and hard!

For years, Pinnacle had designed the market's top, novice-affordable video editing/authoring platforms, but for some frustrating reason, they just can't seem to keep the bugs out. This verson is no exception.

Lately, the competition in this market has mushroomed, and there are better alternatives available for the same price. At last, others have emulated the Pinnacle platform while eliminating the work/creativity-killing bugs.

My advice? Shop around. Google the competition. But save yourself the frustration and steer away from anything Pinnacle.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Dishonest company", Do not buy anything from Pinnacle. Their software deceptively leads you to believe that you need to purchase further programs to burn DVDs. I did so and got incorrect activation codes twice before requesting a refund which they have refused to give even though the product does not work and meets their advertised return policy. I have filed a formal complaint with the Federal Trade Commission for deceptive trade policies and knowingly offering defective products.

"Buggy, buggy, buggy", The last few versions of Pinnacle have been disturbingly buggy. Perhaps you'll get lucky and won't have any problems, but save often! Pinnacle also requires you to pay extra for the extra media included with the product. If you want to use disc menus, etc, you have to go to the website and give them your credit card details. Ulead and Adobe give you loads more free content.

"Studio Plus Version 10.5", This product is pure crap. I have used versions 7,8,9 happily, and now 10.5. I want my money back! Version 10 is completely unstable, and nearly unusable. If you must use Pinnacle, buy version 9. Pinnacle tech support is just as worthless. I have a call into Jeffery Hastings Pinnacles GM at 605.930.3068 to see what plans they have to save this product.

"Pinnacle 10 Debacle", Followed company's instructions for set-up (separate hard drive, etc.) and meet or exceed hardware/memory requirements. Result? Program consistently freezes in the editing mode requiring task manager to kill the program. Cannot get through the editing of a 15 minute video clip! I certainly hope the manufacturer gets some of this feedback.

"Problem after problem", This program would be great, but you have to figure out how to do it all on your own. Tech support for pinnacle is terrible, and there are no instructions. There is a manual, but it is not very helpful. I kept running into little gliches in the program where I would be working on a project and all of the sudden something would quit working until I shut the program down and restarted it. If there were decent instructions with it and the program would work right every time I used it, I would love it.
