"Amazing Basketball Game"
This was the best sports game ever when it was released. The dunks in this game are even better than the previous versions. The dynasty mode is fantastic. The freestyle innovations are outstanding. The dribble styles are neat. The competion modes can vary as much as you want them to. This can be as easy or as hard as you want it to be. You get to choose between five difficulties of playing. You can change the abilities of each player in around twenty areas. There are settings for you to change how hard or easy it is for you and the opponent, seperately, to shoot the ball as well as do just about everything else. You can customize current players or make your own made up player that is good or not so good. Created players can be anywhere from five foot tall and one hundred twenty pounds to seven foot six inches tall and three hundred fifty pounds. You can do almost anything involving NBA basketball in this game.

"One Of the best games ever!!"
This game is an awsome basketball game! The players look real and the comentary is also great. It is easy to learn the controls for offense, but defense is a little bit harder. The dunking is just plain awsome. If you want a very good basketball game, you should get this one!! Its really worth your money

"OMG u guys all suck"
OMG OMG OMG NBA LIve has crrrrrrrazy graphics. awesome just totally awesome. u stupid retards out there r really stupid. NBA Live is the best game in the whole wide world. i just got the game 20 mins ago and i relize that it dosent take a PhD just to figure out how good this game is. as i said, those who say this game sucks, well guess wat no one is listenin to u and no one ever will. as always, EA Sports, It In The Game

"Still Improving, but maybe try improving different areas of the game"
In my opinion overall NBA live 2006 is the best game of the series to date, when you take in to account the extra features and small additions to the gameplay. However, whilst always improving the look, and features of the game, certain aspects which could be drastically improved are being neglected. The individuality of players has almost completely left the game. In NBA Live 06, the only thing which sets apart two 'playmakers' or two 'scorers' are the way they look and what singlet they are wearing. Ballhandlers all make the same moves, dunkers all make the same dunks. In saying that let me stress the dunks and moves are better then ever and look fantastic.

Graphics: As long as you have a decent video card etc the graphics of the game are as good if not better then ever. The stadiums look absolutely fantastic and the crowd, bench and coach detail is remarkable. The creators have still not quite got the players looking as smooth as possible but still a vast improvement on previous years. The close up video shots in timeouts etc look just like the real players.

Sound: At first the sound appeared to be brilliant as far as commentary goes, with different combinations on different games even. However as is always the case there are certain phrases and such which appear to be coming out constantly and every now and then a random comment which seems to have nothing to do with what is happening in the game. Great commentary in a game will be a tough aspect to master, and they haven't done it yet.

Gameplay: The general gameplay is excellent. The freestyle aspects to ball handling is a huge plus in the games favour and gives you a lot more control over what you player does with the ball. The penetrating and passing/rotating around the three point line to find an open man is fantastic, probably the most enjoyable gameplay yet. However one of the biggest downfalls of the game in my opinion is some of the unrealistic aspects of the game including the fact that the offense almost averages an offensive rebound per offensive play. Defenders (whom you are not contolling) out of position quite a bit.

Features: The features in the series are getting better and better. With the All - star weekend, 3 point competition, fantastic dynasty mode.

Lasting appeal: For players who enjoy the game the everlasting appeal of the game is fantastic. THe dynastic mode lets you take control of a team, hire staff, trade players etc as well as play the games. Great stats and players of the month are great extras in the mode. Of course there is always the multiplayer option and online play.

Overall: Not the perfect NBA Live game but in my opinion the best yet and you can easily look past the few downfalls and get long-lasting enjoyement out of the newest addition to the NBA Live series.

"Worst NBA game"
There are so many lousy plays in this game.

Firstly, it is so hard to get a defensive rebound. Offensive rebound will make up 40% of your total rebounds. Once the opponent gets a offensive rebound, the opponent will keep getting the rebound until he score.

Secondly, the response of the keys are so slow that switching players will be very difficult and the movement of your player are pretty slow also resulting in lousy defense.

Thirdly, the opponent's guard always does the scoring regardless of who he is, even a rookie. And he will come up with a bunch of points like 50 points in a game which is ridiculous.

Fourth, whenever the player attempt an unsuccessful steal or blocks the shot of the court, it is counted as a turnover.

The only thing improvement from the previous games is in terms of the fast break and the inside scoring moves.

What our customer's say!

"awesome game!", This game has very nice graphics and is a lot of fun to play.

"Got a basketball Jones", I haven't followed the NBA since Jordan retired from the Bulls.... again, and I have mostly just played the NBA Live series on the Super Nintendo, because even tho each year the graphics get better and more is added, I still prefer NBA Live 96 on snes over them all.

I recently purchased Michael Jordan's 20th anniversary DVD and it re sparked a bit of interest in me to play some basketball after that DVD provided me with a demo of NBA LIVE 01. I started to kinda enjoy it, even tho it was only 1 on 1 in the demo and I also got NBA Live 03's demo and thought they weren't bad at all, so i thought id get a full version at long last and the only one available was 06.

Keep in mind I've only played Coach K, 95,96,97,98 on snes and a few on Sega gen. and 99 and 00 on n64 and I used to have 96 on PC years ago... and well, the new versions are a lot more updated, the graphics have improved a hell of a lot, you can actually just about tell who anyone is now on the court without just looking at there number, the dunks have improved a lot, the extra modes have come along way, but I dunno what it is, I still think they haven't captured the fun of the originals, and I still prefer 96 on snes over them all.

But that's not to say I haven't enjoyed 06... I've heard a lot of reviews saying it isn't as good as the past few years versions, but I wouldn't know, I never played them... I'm not sorry i bought this version.

As usual the first thing I did after a brief run on the court was edit the rosters, but I find that you cant really create the exact face you want, its all pretty much the same looks with them all, and I was disappointed that it does include a legends roster that you can sign a few of those players to your actual teams, but the big stars like Larry Bird and Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul Jabbar are not signable, you can only play as them on the legends roster... then there is missing legends such as Karl Malone, John Stockton and of coarse, his airiness Michael Jordan. but yet there is a 100 pair of MJ shoes you can put on your players.

But, the good thing is you can go to the EA sports website and go to the NBA LIVE section and people have actually made patches for you to download and just place in the folders it says to and instantly you have the legends of the game, depending on what you download and install will depend on weather the legends become available for any team or if you just want to add a whole historic team to the game as an added on team.. So what happens is say you want Chicago, there is your normal 06 team, then you scroll through and you have another Chicago team from 1992 and another of 1996 complete team with complete players that weren't in the game before the patch, and it also includes there stats, pictures and voice overs so that it doesn't just say "number 23 bulls" like a custom player, it does actually say "Michael Jordan" and they have created there actual faces to go with it. And it can be pretty funny when playing with Steve Kerr in the 96 Bulls team and you hear the commentary of Steve Kerr say, "he reminds me a lot of myself when I used to play"

So I'm happy I have those guys in the game now looking as best as possible without having to waste time creating them and not having them look right.

There is the regular season mode, playoffs and exhibitions. There is also an all-star weekend where you can compete in the 3 point contest or the slam dunk contest... in an exhibition the all star team is those of the all-stars of 06, but i think you can get your own player into it in season mode, tho don't quote me on that, I haven't bothered to play a full season yet. (All-star game I'm talking about, you can pick whomever you want at anytime in the 3 point or dunk contests)

The 3-point shootout isn't much; I manage to knock every shot in with ease. but the dunk contest is not easy... it's not just running to the ring and pressing dunk, it involved a lot more where you choose your position on the court, run or move or whatever and choose 1 of 4 buttons to execute a jump style, then you press 1 of the 4 buttons again to choose a dunk style, and there is many combinations to do, and then you do the same as above holding 1 button or another and you end up with different dunks, then don't hold it, then hold it and so on and so on ... but the dunks you do in the slam dunk contest are not the ones you do in a game... you can even throw the ball, or bounce it off the back board or even the jumbo-trons and do cartwheels and hang off the ring, do 720 spinning dunks... but it does take a lot of practice to master these things and that's why there is a dunk school mode where you can practice these dunks and tricks.

Also included is the usual 1 on 1 match, seemed to be more fun in 2001's version.

I also recommend you download some court patches of the NBA-LIVE site, there is a great patch that lets you use a lot of outdoor courts in the regular games (5 on 5) instead of just having every game inside a stadium. It adds a lot more replay value to the game when you play different teams and the only thing that seems to change is the floor colour and jerseys.

There is a lot more options as well inside the game, and a dynasty mode that is basically a season mode, but you have to draft the team, use salary caps and blah-blah-blah... but after you complete the season, it doesn't end, you come back the next year and from what I've heard it goes up to about 10 years of seasons.

Now, the CONS.

- Cant turn fouls completely off
- There is about 5 different camera views you can use and none of them are the one you really want. it would be nice if theyd let you use an option to rotate and spin the camera around and zoom it in or out to where you want it to be, I'm pretty sure NBA LIVE 96 on PC had that option, if it didn't, it certainly had better camera views so why the hell did they take it away? When you do a replay in this game you can change the angle to wherever you want, but not in regular cam position! They need to replay camera option to be useable as your regular view cam option.
- It was easier to dunk in NBA LIVE 2001... the demo version anyway; the in game dunks seem to be less powerful now.
- The dunk contest can be annoying because it takes so damn long for it become your turn again. It needs a skip there dunk option, like it has in the 3 point shootout, plus, you only get one camera view in the dunk contest (during the match, not the replay) and it's annoying when you practice on one angle and then you cant see it head on in the match.
- It isn't as easy to block opponents anymore like in 01... or hell, any versions before that.
- There is no intentional foul anymore (push/shove) to knock them down.
- Listening to Steve Kerr's commentary gets way too repetitive each game, and so does whatsernames in the dunk contest, funny at first, but annoying one you've heard it 100 times.

Overall: for the price of the game at the moment, its ok, I have heard 07 isn't as good as this version, so I wont be bothering with the next few NBA LIVE releases, this one will satisfy me for a while until they make something 100 times better and not just update one small thing.

The main reason I still prefer NBA LIVE 96 (snes) over any version is because when you make a players 3 point shooting a 99, the highest it can be, you only have a 1% chance of missing a shot from within the half court range... it was a reason I didn't like 97 up to 00 and stopped playing these NBA LIVE games. At least in 06, when you select there 3 point range to 99, they do go in as long as your close enough to the 3 point line. They wont go in every time from half court, but about a feet away from the 3 point line is about a 90% average... ya still miss a few shots from time to time, but it's a big improvement over the other ones I've played before. But still not as accurate or as far away as the ol' snes fav'

"nba live 06", the game does not work properley, some menus don't apper as thay should

"Awesome Game!!", This is the best basketball game I have ever played on PC....graphics are just mind blowing...game play...and features....not to mention the price...EA really knows how to make games. Download the demo to give it a try first.

"This game is great", This game has a lot of good features and it is very enjoyable. I recommended this game to anyone that likes basketball games and has a computer that works well with mid level games

"Worst NBA Live series ever !", If it were released before nba live 95, it would be the second worst nba live series. Sadly, it is not. The graphic reminder me nba live 95. Is this nba live 95 retro?

The game is not as fluent as other nba live series. And it does not response to my key press fast enough. I could not react to my opponent in time. NPC can do lots of fancy move and I could only see that happened.

NBA Live series has its prime time, but it has already pasted. Forget this game, it is not worthy your time to play it.

"Excellent game", I've only played NBA live 05 and 06 and compared to 05 this is a better game. The bottom line is that this game is very similar to 05, but with better graphics.

"Improvement over 05, but not as good as 03-04", Last year's games was horrible! The players had gone from realistic with realistic moves the previous year to looking deformed and appearing to look as if they were wrapped in plastic wrap! Not only that, but the gameplay took a big hit. It never felt like you were playing a NBA game.

Now, they have taken some of the plastic wrap off (some), beefed up the textures and even improved the gameplay(from last year only). However, I cannot endirse this title. It is not as mush fun as the 03/04 was. The guys still look kind of deformed. The textures are better but still not great. The better NBA game is the Sega NBA 2K series as that has always had better graphics(EA Sports is not know fro graphics) and gameplay. Too bad Sega no longer makes games for the PC. With this game sucking like this, an X-Box 360 or a PS3 is certain for me just to get Sega's game! I just hope EA does not try to but an exclusive NBA license to take out the comp instead of trying to improve unpon their games as they should.

While the X-Box 360's games don't look great or even next generation, to play NBA 2K6 online and have basketball game done right, I'll get one. EA lives and dies off of it's reculed sports titles. They found good marketing that will never end. I guess this is why they don't improve much.

Oh yeah, the online play is the same as it was when they started online play in (03 or 04). Same lag, but updated anti-cheating devices. Not to mention, the annoucers call out the wrong players names all of the time! I would pass on this. Don't be fooled by the graphics as the better ones are from X-Box 360.
