"Excellent for LCD TV"
Altec Lansing VS4221 speakers have good sound with convenient remote control. This unit actually improves the sound quality of my TV. Good price at Amazon.

These speakers meet all expectaions. Deliver excellent sound quality. Only thing is the control remote is not necessary. Controls would be better if on the speakers themselves. Otherwise, this is a good value.

"So Good, I Bought 2 More!"
I love these speakers! I bought one set for my bedroom, loved it, bought anouther set for my living room, then bought a 3rd set for a friend as a gift. These speakers give super sound, excellent control, work with standard stereo equipment (friend's house) or controlled by computer (my apartment). They also work well connected to a TV for great movie sound (there are 2 sets of inputs, but I can't connect to the TV and to my computer at the same time, I get humming). I've basically made a "whole house" sound system with these and am really pleased.

"Awesome Sound"
Another hit from Altec Lansing. The reputation that AL has built is again confirmed with this system. Great low's come from the 2 thin and adjustable speakers then kick the bass up for wall shaking sound. Extremely loud and great sound for games. Music wise the bass is a little much (if that is possible) and I tend to lower the sub via the very convenient remote. With optional headphone jack and independent treble/bass control this is the best of the best for a 2.1 system. No complaints, easy setup, overall Amazing system. Thank you Altec Lansing!!!

"Good value"
I got these on sale for $35+s&h, and am more than satisfied. The design is attractive and effective--the satellites are stable and sturdy, unlike the satellites on the bxr1121 I had been using which tended to fall over. The satellites can tilt between vertical and ~40degrees, and the hinge seems sturdy enough

As far as controls go, the right satellite has master volume controls and a headphone jack, but the system unfortunately lacks on-speaker controls for treble/bass/etc. It relies on a remote for these controls, which could be bad if you're the type to misplace small things. Also, the picture seems to indicate a stand for the remote; this was not included in my package.

The remote itself has, in addition to volume/treble/bass, a "stand by" button which turns the speakers off, a "loud" button which boosts treble and bass, and a "default" button to return your equalizer settings to baseline. Sadly, the unit lacks any display of how high your equalizer settings are currently set to.

Sound quality, I can't complain. The sub in particular is more than ample for my purposes. Midranges seem a bit weak on default settings, though reducing treble/bass and increasing master volume can compensate for this.

One final complaint, I miss having the aux 3.5mm jack on the satellite as with my previous speakers; with this set, if you normally have it connected to your computer for example, and want to connect your mp3 player, you'll need an aux input on your computer or you'll have to unplug the computer. Not a bit issue since most devices have these aux jacks, but they may or may not be as accessible, depending on how your system is arranged.
