"Excellent Mouse"
I've used this mouse daily (and nightly) for the last 18 months to two years and I find it to be an excellent mouse.

"Nice, lower cost mouse"
I purchased quite a few of these to use as mice replacements for my office users. They're much higher quality than the mice that have been shipping with our Dell systems of late.

The ergonomics is agreeable for most user, the buttons have continued to function well and the wide scroll wheel is easy to reach, turn and spins more freely than most models on the market - meaning you can get more scroll out of one "flick" - a good thing for scanning pages quickly.

This certainly doesn't have the flash of some of the newest models, but for the price I don't think you will be disappointed.

"Great basic mouse"
Had an intellimouse explorer that died after 5 years. Was looking for the most normal mouse that would be suitable. Works great and is very comfortable for a variety of hand shapes. Button feel and wheel action is nice too.

"Magnifcation"
Since I have diminished vision due to several years of diabetes this magnifying mouse is perfect for me. It allows me to easily read any articles I am interested in on the internet. Some of these are printed in a light blue color amd are almost impossible to read without extra help. I feel sure there are many people who could benefit from this mouse.

"Buttons too hard to press"
I've had this mouse for a couple of months now and I can't say I'm overly pleased with it. It gets the job done and it hasn't had any technical faults, but for all of its supposed "comfort" or "ergonomic" features, it is not comfortable at all compared to other mice out there. The left and right click buttons require quite a bit of pressure to press; I have found myself using both my index and middle fingers together to press the left mouse button to ease the strain a little. And this is coming from a 20 year old - anyone with weaker hands may have serious discomfort using it. The way that the buttons share the same piece of plastic as the rest of the mouse seems to be partially the cause of this - all the mice I have seen designed this way, while nice to look at, are really uncomfortable to use. The middle click is basically useless due to having to press it down so hard for the zoom/automatic scroll option. At least using it as a regular scroll wheel is OK. All in all, I am not too happy with the purchase and am looking for a replacement already.

What our customer's say!

"SOME GREAT FEATURES", Simply put it, this is a wonderful mouse.

The mouse has a standard wheel with up/down scrolling as well as side-side scrolling (by tilting the wheel left or right). The wheel also acts as a center button when pressed down. There is another red button on the left side which can be programmed to do different things (more on that in a sec). The size of the mouse is moderately large - about the standard size for a desk mouse, and feels comfortable in your hand over long periods of use. If you're looking for a small portable version for a notebook however, this may not be the right mouse for you.

The wheel offers smooth scrolling (no "clicks"). When combined with the Intellimouse program (come to that in a sec), the wheel is a pleasure to use.

What really makes this mouse wonderful is the Intellimouse driver it comes with (I have intellimouse v6.3). (download the latest version here [...] )

1) The microsoft intellimouse software/driver provides accelerated scrolling -- I've found this to be immensely helpful. When I have to scroll a little bit, I turn the wheel slightly, but when I have to scroll through a long pdf file/web page, I turn the wheel fast and the scrolling speed increases. No more of the mouse wheel being a treadmill for your finger.

2) The side button and the wheel center click can be programmed to do wonders using Intellimouse 6.3 - As an example of one of the 30 things you can make it do, is "InstantView" kinda like the Mac Expose (not as smooth), but basically previews all windows in tiles and you can click on one to switch to it. Another example is "Magnify" which magnifies a portion of the screen. How is it different from the standard middle click magnify that some mouses come with? If you hold down the magnify button you can change the area that is being magnified my moving your mouse. You can also increase/decrease the level of magnification with the wheel. You can even have the side button emulate a keystroke (which is what I currently do -- as one program I frequently use can be programed to be invoked with a particular keystroke).

Cons: The mouse is a USB mouse, but it does come with a USB to PS/2 converter. However, if you use it as a PS/2 mouse it loses many of its awesome function like tilt scrolling and the extra red button doesn't work.

"Excellent cheap mouse", This is my favorite cheap mouse. Comfortable, works great, hightly customizable, nice tilt wheel.

MS Vista does a momentary screen blanking when you use the zoom feature, but everything that does similar stuff in Vista hits up against that security. Not a big deal.

"One year on and love this mouse", I'm picky about the type of mouse I use, so I'm happy to report that I've been using this mouse for approximately a year and find it continues to be comfortable and smooth. This mouse is the standard-issue mouse at the technology firm where I work, and I even purchased one for my own use at home.

It doesn't get as dirty as other mouse devices I've used in the past; when it does get a little bit of dust on it, it's very easy to clean.

For the price, I don't think you can do any better.

"Great little mouse...", This is a really nice mouse. Great price and great value for the price. I usually stick to the mouse that comes with the computer I bought, but my latest came with the most uncomfortable mouse I've ever encountered. It hurt to use it for only 10 minutes. Literal pain in the wrist and forearm. So, I wanted a nice mouse that was ergonomically viable for me and was looking at this one and a comparably priced Logitech device. I've used Logitech before so I trust them implicitly. Microsoft has a on and off again reputation with add on devices and I was a bit hesitant to consider this one.

On further examination, though, it turned out to be the best buy I could have made. It is really comfortable and has great action. It moves across the mousepad with ease and the buttons are fairly easy to use. It even has a function for magnifying a local screen image so that you can read better. I don't know if I'll ever have a real use for that, but it's really nice to have anyway.

Mainly, though, I am just peachy pleased to have such a comfortable device to use with my computer. I monitor the Web often and in lengthy fashion. This mouse allows me to roam effortlessly.

Great job, Microsoft.

"good but annoying", CONS:
- You have to install software to use the extra features
- You have to click the scroll wheel precisely to use the vertical autoscroll feature.
- The "thumb" button most likely used for picture enlargement gets in the way and always goes off when I don't want it to. And the picture enlarging always slows my computer down, and my computer is new and up to date.
- Mouse pointer always seems to move to the left on it's own.
- A color other than red would have been nice

PROS:
- Sleak, comfortable design.
- Side-scroll feature.

"not suited for me", This may be a personal preference but I do not like the way the buttons are made. The 2 buttons are of the same plastic piece that is molded in the shape of the mouse; I prefer the mouse with buttons that are of separate pieces. It seems I have to apply more pressure for buttons of the same plastic piece.

"Comfort?", The scroll wheel actually hurts my fingertip to use. It's the most uncomfortable mouse I've ever used. I'll be returning this product ASAP.

"they do wear out, but none feels better", I go through one of these about every two years. First, the work great. Then, the button switches become slightly intermittent and take longer to work. Just when I think my PC is getting slow, or worry that my browser is corrupted, the switch starts to just plain NOT WORK when I click.

Why buy one? Because this mouse feels better, causes less hand and arm fatigue, and is more accurate than any other pointing device I've tried.

Occasional replacement is a small price to pay for comfort and performance.

"Ok, but terrible middle click", I've had this mouse for a couple of weeks. Previously I had 3 olders MS Mouses - I only replaced them because better models came up - none ever failed.

This mouse is great in several aspects. It feels great on my hand, I really like the wheel and the other buttons, and the software is very reasonable. I wouldn't think I would, but I use the default side button zoom quite a bit...

The only problem is that the middle button is VERY hard to click, to the point of my hand hurting after a while. It also fails sometimes - I click, hear the click but nothing happens.

Given the complaints I read, it seems to be a common problem...

"Simple and Reliable", When my previous mouse started to give me problems, I chose this mouse.

It is simple to use, with very smooth operation.Like its name, it is comfortable to use too. The controls are simple.

I also like the look of it, I was looking at a very flashy red model, then decided on this one instead, as it's very reasonably priced.

I am very happy with it and would recommend it to anyone replacing their mouse.
