"Love This Thing", I absolutely love this little gadget. After 3 years of heavy use, it finally konked out, and I tried replacing with a similar Franklin model, but found its layout cumbersome and inconvenient.

On the Sharp, however, I like that the 3 different dictionaries are easily accesible, the rest of the options can be accessed by other nearby buttons, and the backlight is a really nice feature--so there's no need to flip through a lot of menus. It also has two different font-sizes.

The main things I like about this though are that the keyboard is easy to type on, and when you search for a word, it's kind of like flipping through a dictionary (it's hard to explain). But I like it because it's a good way to find new words and such. If only it had more words.

It looks okay, and the lid is easy to flip open when you need it quick, and it has a nice puzzle solver/geography section. I preferred its Spanish translations to the Franklin's, as it had several different ways to use each word (when applicable)--granted, the Franklin could translate 5 languages. And had games.

Nice and quick to use, quick to learn the functions, and very, very convenient for school.

It is very straightforward to use and the keyboard is large enough to ensure that you only hit one key most of the time. I like dictionaries and own several in book form. Oxford has long been my favorite. This portable little gadget makes a nice addition to my arsenal and is great for quick look-ups.

I've been playing with the Geographic Dictionary and it contains more information than I expected.



"Very confusing", Insert a word and it comes up with many selections to choose from. If you don't know the word... how can you select one?

"Good overall", It's a little confusing to used at first, but once you get the hang of it, it really works pretty well. I find myself going back to the manual to use the more advanced features however. Some of the keys are non-intuitive (there's no space bar, for example; you just leave it out). The screen is difficult to read in all but the brightest light unless you turn on the backlight. All in all, I'm pretty impressed with, especially for what I paid.

"great deal and user friendly", I bought this item via "today's deals" and with the manufacturer's rebate, ended up paying only 5 bucks for it. That's one of the best deals I've ever found. My 8 year old uses it a lot as she's in a Spanish immersion program at school. It's easy to use and seems to have a large enough database of words.

"Somewhat large", I bought it because the price after rebate was pretty low. I guess that you get what you pay for.

However, this is somewhat larger than needed. It probably could be done in 2/3 to 1/2 the dimensions. It does not fit in a shirt pocket or front pocket. It does fit into a hip pocket; but I am not sure that is a good thing to do.

It has a lot of functions that are not needed if you are looking for a Spanish/English translator, as I was.

"sharp pw-e250 great item easy to use", I got this item for the eng to spanish and it works great very easy to use. I also use the spanish to eng. great item and fun to use will come in handy. in spanish muy bien, gracias ron


"Happy so far", I purchased this as a Christmas gift for my 16 year-old daughter. She's a native Spanish speaker and is trying to learn English now that she's in the US. She loved the dictionary and started using it right away while watching tv...we keep the Close Captioning on so that she can see and hear the English while watching tv. She had no problems using it immediately, infact, I don't think she even looked at the instructions once. I see that she took it to school, as well, and when we were translating some some song lyrics online one night, she grabbed it first, even though a book dictionary was within reach, as well. This is a super learning tool, I recommend it.
