"Great printer and great ink", I will never buy another HP anything. These ink cartridges last plenty of time in my printer, I've had the same cartridges for over 4 months with light to moderate printing. Never had a single problem with the printer or ink.

GREAT little printer for the price. Works very well. Only problem is the enormous amount of ink it eats. Changing media type you are printing on doesn't seem to make any difference, it just pours out the same amount of ink. Once the page dries, it looks great, the problem is how it over inks the pages whether plain paper or glossy photo paper.

I have had an HP printer that was an out of box failure, that wound up on the garbage truck, an Epson that was a real work horse and did me proud until after 7 years of hard labor it started banding the pages. I purchased Canon after reviewing my needs, all in one printer, prices and reviews. Canon won and I'm not sorry I bought it, only the ink situation makes it less glorious.

Come on Canon, you could easily beat HP if you do something about the ink consumption! BTW, I have talked to too many people substituting instead of using Canon ink and have destroyed their printers, so I only use Canon brand. If the ink was a little cheaper, it wouldn't hurt so much.

"thrilled", I am thrilled with my buy. I have looked all over and found my best deal at Amazon.com much to my surprise. I have ordered ALL my colors from here and will continue to do so. Ebay offers refilled cartridges without the chip needed and say for YOU to replace them with your old ones, well why take the chance of screwing up your printer...spring for the REAL ones that are COMPLETE. Best buy....Amazon.

"Faulty Cartridge", This is probably the fifth cartridge I have replaced and the only one not to work perfectly.This one would produce good quality single pages but incomplete printing of multi-page documents.
Amazon was quick to send a replacement after I contacted them but, sent the wrong cartridge.

"Good lifespan, could be more durable", I have no complaints about how long the ink last or the actual text quality. My main beef is the ink is not waterproof. I can't use a highlighter on documents printed on my Canon MP500. I seem to remember being able to do this on my old HP DeskWriter (the original, over 10 years old). If there is another Canon ink number compatable with my printer that can be highlighted I'd sure like to know.

"Great (HUNGRY) printer", I am VERY happy with the printer... (yet another person COMPLETELY abandons HP) but it goes through the ink big time. I am a Realtor and print a LOT and am amazed at the rate this eats ink... I suggest an aftermarket ink kit (got mine at atlanticinkjet)that has both the PG (pigment) and standard ink. Atlantic's ink kit is OK... don't like the syringes... too much clean up but the kit on a whole is nice in a plastic container

"Canon makes the best and least expensive inkjet to run", Some people really should not listen to some people around them that get them all hot and bothered with innacurate information.
1. This Black Ink Cartrige I am buying in advance for my IP4200 amazing printer.
2. I have had Canon printers before, but this and the new 8 level ink give such better quality and run and run and run !!
3. The technology in the ink makes it dry immediately and is guaranteed never to fade. There is a finer mist on how it is sprayed on.
4. Lord knows why anyone would want to screw up the quality output of a Canomn printer, but cheap knockoffs of othe Canon ink products are everywhere. Just go to Staples, or a million other stores and online inkjet services.
5. Something to note. The Canon printers run at less that 1/2 the price of any HP inkjets. Why? Because there is NO logic in the Canon cartridges, plus the ink is psrayed "finer". In most other cartridges, like the HP ink jet, their are print heads in every on of their expensive cartridges. In the Canon, there is only ONE print head that works outside of the ink units, therefore making the cartridges less expensive, being able to fill more and makes the printer a heck of a lot lesser to run, maintenance wise.

So if you want to get a fine printer and grundge up the output, go after those clones. The cartridges need changing so irregulary, I just don't understand. It is like purchasing a Jaguar automobile and trying to save money on it, by having the engine replaced with a Ford Escort engine.

"Works for me.", I am not having the trouble the other reviewer mentioned. Both the blacks and all the color cartridges seem to last a reasonable amount of time. When you can buy a color photo printer for $90, you must expect to pay a premium for the ink cartridges. Most of my printing is photos or graphics, not a lot of text, which may partially account for the longer wear of the black cartridges. All in all, I am happy with this product.
