Bought System mechanic 6 pro online, it repairs but reports problems but you cannot get information at all. None of the modules report what is being done. If you need assistance forget it, all you get from IOLO is go see the FAQ's, I don't think humans work there just a computer that generates emails. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY!!!

"SM 6 ok, SM 7 = bad news"
I got iolo's message about 'save $20 on SM7' so I went for it. Bad move. SM7 downloaded ok, installed ok, ran ONCE ok, then I couldn't get it to open up again. Then, about 30 seconds later, my computer shut itself off. My computer was only 7 months old at the time. I tried all my computer tricks about uninstalling, manually deleting files, system restore. Forget it, I was licked...all the computer would do is bootup, then after running 60 seconds or so, shut down. I had to do F10 and choose DESTRUCTIVE RECOVERY. What a drag. After spending the next day and a half re-installing all my programs it was ok. I ran it that way for the next month and a half, then the computer got a bit slow and I put SM6 back in. SM6 is running fine. SM7 is junk.

After installing in Sony vgc-ra810 system crashed. Unable to find C:. Have been waiting two days for a legitimate answer from I0L0 and now have two case ##. Phone attempts are met with automated replys the same as the internet. The Amazon seller has been very helpfull so I can not blame him. If I ever get my computer running I plan on visiting all sites that support reviews with a word of advice about lack of HUMAN product support by IOLO. As for now I wanted to get this out to Amazon customers so I am using my neighbors computer.

Save your money!!!

I used the evaluation version of System Mechanic version 6 for 29 days and thought it was great enough that I paid for and upgraded to System Mechanic Professional version on the subscription option for $69.95.

I download the installer and ran it at 7:30 am on Sunday morning. None of the modules, I repeat NONE worked. I uninstalled. Cleaned out my registery and directories of all traces of this and the previous version and reinstalled, several time to the point that I gave up at 8pm the sam night. I search the online support and found no help. I wrote an email and as of today (Wednesday) have not yet received a reply. Their phone is constantly busy but I did get through last night at 7pm eastern time (they close at 8pm eastern/5pm pacific) and was transferred to tech support. For the next hour I listened to the message: "All of our support specialist are busy. Please stay on the line and your call will be answered in the order in which it was received" until 8pm when the recording switched over to: "Thank you for calling Iolo. Our business hours are from 9am to 5pm pacific time. Please call back during these hours."

I'm extremely upset. I'm not a noob and have been using computers since the 386 days.

As soon as my American Express bill cycles, I will call and have the charge removed.

Version 6 was great, version 7 tanks.

Save your money. Spend it with a company who responds to their customers.

I have had my computer for a couple of years now, and I have always wondered if there was ever a product out there to help me rid my computer of WASTE. Well this product was recommended to me by a family member, and I am impressed as to how well it does!! I have never had so much success with one ALL-IN-ONE product as I have the System Mechanic 6 Professional, and the fact that it came with Virus Protection was and added bonus for me too. If your computer is slower than slow I definately recommend that you use this product to get rid of the Unnecessary Junk on your system, and keep up to date with the latest Viruses out there. "Worthless", Loses its executable and requires reinstallation. I upgraded to SM 7 Pro same problem, after many reinstalls I had to buy again and am having the same problems with another computer. This software will cost you soooo much lost time and effort. After 7 months fighting this garbage software I am going back to Norton. I will suffer the 15 to 30 minutes slow-mo at startup with Norton, in favour of fatal errors with iolo. NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!!!!

"The best, but may not wOrk for everyBOdy", THIS PRODUCT IS THE BEST. IVE USED THIS WITH 6 OF MY COMPUTRS AND RECOMMENDED IT TO MY FRIENDS. "Where is the zero star?", What an awful application! There is ZERO support. I have send a dozen emails to these people and get nothing but automated returns directing me to the FAQ which I've read through completely. They say they're there 24.7...but not for the customer. The application just doesn't work! I had to uninstall the firewall to use my vista machine, the Anti-virus stops my outlook cold. The "repair" stuff just tells you there is a problem, but not what it is. Beware of having this software clean up the "Clutter" for you, it will just as likely erase your OS and its components. Look for better solutions from symantec or macafee or about any other company.

"Not for everyone, but it worked for me...", I've been using System Mechanic 6 Professional, for about a month. I'd have to say that the overall performance of Windows XP has improved greatly since installation. Upon starting System Mechanic, a general report is given on the overall health of Windows. It fixes problems in the registry, defragments the hard-drives/ram, and boosts internet performance. All of this is done is done in a short period of time (under an hour).

I've also read all the negative reviews on Amazon. I'm not going to dispute any of them, since each user has his/her own experiences using the product. All I can say, is that I'm glad that the software worked for me.

"Don't Get Your Hopes Too High", You likely won't get the system performance improvement that is advertised unless you had a very "messy" system. But it does have a great antivirus and firewall, and if you like to be able to tweak hidden settings and know a bit more about what is going on "behind the scenes", it's an okay product. But be very careful with the cleanup tool. It will delete some important files if you are not careful!!!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Good but a fatal flaw ", Systemic Mechanic 6 seemed to be helping, since it handled a lot of the advertised functions well.

However, the "repair broken shortcuts" function does not work properly.

For a variety of reasons I use a large number of Microsoft Word Shortcuts in my Folder/ File system. System Mechanic "repaired broken shortcuts" on a large number of my short-cutted documents by directing the shortcut from the correct file target to the wrong file target. Now I am pulling up documents which are similar ( but are actually older versions which I have save to an auxiliary hard drive ) or unrelated to the actual, correct target file. This has had severe productivity consequences, since I have to double check the target of every file opened via a shortcut.

Contacting on-line Help was of no help whatsoever.

"System Mechanic 6 Professional", System Mechanic 6 Professional is an excellent product and it solved all the problems I was having with my computer. It also alerts you of impending problems. I highly recommends this product.


"Actually, zero stars", Why buy Iolo System Mechanic when you can get malware for free?
I installed Pro 7 and it gave many, many problems. Iolo did not respond to my emails so I uninstalled. Their uninstaller did not work either.

"Don't Upgrade to Version 7!!!!!", Version 7 is a piece of junk. Slows the boot time to nearly 5 minutes. Internet cleanup completely ignores your settings for cookie removal...deletes them all no matter how many times you "protect" the ones you want to keep. Does not recognize Zone Labs Internet Security Suite's firewall or antivirus. Stay with version 6 if you must use an Iolo product. As for me, I'm in the market for a reliable product.

"System Mechanics missing a few tools", I guess I'll start with the things I don't like. I can't get it to do a boot time defrag, it just hangs. Honestly I don't know if a boot time defrag actually will make any difference to the system performance, or it's just a gimmick. It frequently tells me I have a "critical repair" to do and will turn out to be a broken shortcut. What broken shortcut, the program won't say. Outside of that it's ok. I actually like the firewall and antivirus software, the main reason I got it. I had System Suite before, and you had to manually run each task, kind of got old, so I switched. What I do like is the Health Meter, gives you a warm fuzzy how the computer's doing. It takes a little time, but that's fine with me. You know at the end of the day, I can't say if this is the do it all program for you. You will have to just download the "try before you buy" versions, and see what you think. Who knows it might not play nice with some program that you have on your computer that I don't have. I think overall it's as close as I am going to get for now. I'm happy.
