Others say...
"great game; great workout" While not as intense a workout as going to an actual gym, this game gave me a decent amount of exercise every day. But the best part is being able to play games while getting your exercise at the same time! It made my workout fun, which I can't usually say about exercise in general. The "grades" you get for each workout day were also a good motivator to exercise every day, though there is some flexibility in which days you exercise, so you can fit it into your schedule better. Overall, the game/program is very well designed. The exercises were low impact enough that even though I got pregnant partway through the 12 week course, I was able to continue with the program. The only complaint I have is that the eyetoy camera that comes with this game has a special attachment to view your entire body. I didn't realize this beforehand, so I bought a game without the camera (since I already had an eyetoy). You can't purchase the attachment separately; at least, not that I could find. Thus, I had to stand a long way from the TV to be in the right position for the exercises. But it worked okay for me. The eyetoy is a great idea, but only a couple of games have been developed that really take full advantage of this tool. This game is one of them, and I highly recommend it, especially for the exercise-impaired, like me.
"Jump and go!" While it IS fun....it takes so great alignment to make it work almost as well as you expect....plus you need SPACE to move. Keeping those in mind, it's fun!! Also don't buy it without having a memory card.
"Want to get your kids up and moving... heres a video game that wont rot their brain" I actually tell my kids... go play your video game. The amount of fun, physical activity and workout my kids get out of this game is amazing!!! My kids and I have a tournament several nights a week to see who can beat who. This video game actually has a purpose... unbelievable but true
"Very Cool!" I just got this game and I absolutely love it! Just have enough room and enough light and you're in for the workout of a life time and is it fun!! Get this!
"Optimizing the Eye Toy experience" Regarding other reviews:
1. "can't get back far enough" - This game should come with a EyeToy Full Vision Lens adapter (wide-angle) to help with this. Some folks may not realize this.
2. Sensitivity - most of the Eye Toy games have an option to adjust the sensitivity. Spotlighting works well. Also, avoid dark objects in the view behind you.

What our customer's say!
"Fun, fun, fun! (but with drawbacks)", The biggest drawback to this game is that it requires a large room in order to get a good workout. If you stand too close to the camera, then you don't need to jump or reach at all during the game. I solved this problem to some extent by mounting the camera high on the wall and pointing it downwards, but of course that makes the angle a bit wonky.
This game consists of lots of little mini-games, mainly involving bobbles on the screen which do various things, and you either have to hit or dodge. It's more fun than it sounds. It does an excellent job of adjusting to your current ability level and gives you a nice validation of how well you did and how you're progressing.
It doesn't work perfectly, though, whether it's due to bugs or camera problems. A bobble you were supposed to dodge will often get dinged when you were nowhere near it and sometimes you have to hit a bobble over and over before it actually registers. It works more often than not, though, and overall it's a fun way to work out.
"Kinetic Great - Don't loose your Lens!!", I love the EyeToy and Kinetic - great for someone like me who needs motivation, but does not like to leave the house and hit the gym.
HOWEVER.... DO NOT LOSE the extra Lens that comes with Kinetic for the EyeToy as you can't get a replacement for it ANYWHERE! Sony has been NO HELP at all. And I just can't focus the camera without it. So very sad - so I am watching eBay for cheap versions of the game, just to get a replacement lens. They REALLY need to make this lens available as an accessory to purchase on it's own.
"Woo ! Feel the Burn ! (>o<)", Wow ! I thought the EyeToy Play 2 was intense you get this game going and you're up for some sweating and calorie burning for sure. It's a great way to shed some pounds and I'm hoping to save up for a bigger TV so I can do this daily cuz I really need to shed pounds and maybe this can help. It's a lot of fun too. I recommend it !!!
"Finally! Exercise is fun!", Finally a way to get exercise that is fun -- instead of focusing on how many calories you have burned or how many miles you have run to "no where" on a treadmill, you're focusing on ducking, kicking, and hitting things on the screen ... along with other exercises. It's like having a personal trainer in your living room whenever you want to to him/her on! Make sure you have plenty of space to exercise in though. You need enough room to stand in one spot and kick and hit on both sides of you, with plenty of room between you and the tv. Overall, love it!
"A frustrating experience", The idea behind this game is great, the problem is the eyetoy camera is simply not ready for the concept. Even if you have ideal lighting and space in the room w/ your PS2, there will be many times that your score is affected by the camera not registering hits. Some game modes work fairly well but some, like the aerobics section, fail miserably. I can't tell you how irritating it is when you're punching an orb ten times and it won't register a hit and the lighting in the room is perfect and there's no furniture in the background. Hopefully they'll come out w/ a better eyetoy camera if they make future versions of this game. It's simply too frustrating to stick w/ any kind of exercise program on here and I lost interest after a week.

"This is a great game!", We just bought this game a week ago. Not a day goes by that I don't work out with it!
Why do I love it?
The game has Cardio, Combat, Tone & Mind Body.
Cardio - the games require you to hit and kick moving orbs on the screen. This is really FUN!
Combat - the games require you to hit and kick things on the screen, but HARD. This is also very fun and gets out any anger or frustration you have.
Tone - Abs, lower body, upper body, arms... - I've only done the abs portion on easy. I've done loads of pilates and crunches and though it starts off easy (for me, I imagine for people that haven't done a lot of abs work should probably take it easy) and works up to some really HARD abs stuff.
Mind Body - These are fun stretching, tai chi, etc. games. Games, yes, and you have to break the orbs, or followi them, etc. Very fun.
You can have a personal trainer in either Anna or Matt (I have Anna, my husband has Matt) and do a 12 week personal trainer workout that gives you days off.
There is also Routine Builder and you build routines if you wish.
I do both, the personal trainer mode and the routine builder mode. On my days off from the personal trainer, I do several cardio routines sprinkled throughout the day.
The warm up on the eyetoy is great. The stretch after is also nice.
What I like more about this game, rather than Yourself Fitness is that you are not doing jumping jacks and jumps. I have a really hard time with them, and YF doesn't have a skip (yet). Also, with this game the game doesn't have to test you. It knows how well you are doing (ie, because of the camera). On YF you have to constantly take hard physical exams which require you to do jumping jacks and interrupt you if you want to just do the exercise for the day.
So, I really really LOVE eyetoy kinetic!
"You need too much space", I was so excited when I received this game. However, I had to clear out my entire basement and put in a floodlight for it to work with the eye toy. I can't get far enough back from the screen and the annoying cartoon guy keeps telling me every minute or so to step back. If it wasn't for that, it would be a lot of fun.
"Almost there", The game provides a very good workout, but it's not perfect. You need a lot of space and a very, very well lit room. It took several tries changing the camera options and moving the lighting, even purchasing a better lamp, before the program would work well. Even still, often it doesn't "see" me hit the target and my score suffers. Not a big deal since I still get a very good workout. However, a good score moves you on to the next level, so I get stuck in low levels playing the same game over and over.
That said, I still recommend the product. The purpose is to have fun and get a good workout, and it does provide that.
"Great concept", I have to admit, I was a bit skeptical at first when I purchased the Eye Toy: Kinetic for the PS2. I thought it was just going to be a so-so game that makes all of these promises about having fun while working out. I was so wrong. I have gotten fully into this and I have to admit, I really like this game. (Not a game per se, but more of a workout DVD /game.) I have already weighed myself this week from working out with it, and have started to lose a few pounds.
The only problem that I have is the Eye Toy camera itself. It requires an even amount of lighting in order for you to perform the exercises properly. Not to mention that you have to have a good amount of space in your house or apartment in order to get a good full range of motion.
Other than that, this is actually a great concept. This, along with the "Yourself: Fitness" game, (Also for PS2) are good buys to purchase.
"Amazing workout", I didn't know quite to expect when I bought this game. I just knew I'd probably be more motivated to use it since it's interactive vs the workout dvds I already owned, some still in their plastic.
It was fairly easy to set up the game. When you start a profile you get to input weight and height for calorie counting but by some of the choices you make the game can figure out what fitness level you are at. (If you disagree the game lets you change the settings.) You also get to pick between a male and female instructor. Your profile can be changed at any time.
The game has two modes, one where you select what you want to play. There are four different types of workouts and multiple games under each section. This gives you lots of choices. You can also choose to play with someone else.
The second mode is the 12 week workout mode. You work with your trainer three days a week. You start by stretching (can be skipped) and move on to whatever is set for that day. After the workout you can pick extra target exercises to do if you don't feel you've worked out enough. Last is the cool down stretching. All throughout the workout the trainer guides and encourages you to do your best. At the end you can see how well you did and your scores are tracked to chart your progress. As you get better the difficulty of the workout increases. I did a standard workout and it took less than an hour to do it. I was having enough fun I didn't pay attention to the time. It might have only been half an hour.
This is definately a game I will keep and continue to use.
