"Dark Fall 2:Lights Out is a bore"
I played the original Dark Fall several years ago and enjoyed it. I thought the sequel, being new and modern, would be an improvement on the original. I was wrong. Dark Fall 2:Lights Out was boring and difficult from beginning to end. I finished the game only because I hate leaving loose ends behind. I forced myself to finish it, and said a big THANK YOU when the credits rolled so that I could uninstall it from my computer.

It was a very tedious game which jumps through ages from stone age to future. On the surface, that sounds interesting, but in reality, it was difficult and nonsensical.



"Scary deserted Lighthouse to explore."
Explore a Victorian island bound Lighthouse in 1912, 2004 and 2090. Ghosts await discovery in 1912, a mystery needs solving in 2004 and 2090 is very strange indeed. The history of the lighthouse is fully developed and illustrated, offering a massive range of detail and interest for those who like Lighthouses. A classic point and click adventure game for dark nights and candlelight.

"Creepy and mysterious--fun!"
I liked the first Dark Fall, wishing there was more freedom to explore the surrounding areas, especially in the train station. The first game was spooky and able to convey foreboding rather well. So I was delighted to find the same high quality graphics and even creepier story line with time travel in Dark Fall 2, with the same type of plot driven story as opposed to puzzle after puzzle tedium. There are twists that you may miss if you aren't thoroughly investigating your environment in this game, which is my personal favorite part of any adventure/mystery RPG.
The sound effects are really well done, and in a few months I will definitely revisit this beautifully haunting gamespace again.

"Not bad if you're VERY patient... (Possible spoilers!)"
I bought this game because of the reviews for Dark Fall: The Journal, but was horribly disappointed with "Lights Out".
The graphics and sound (e.g., music and characters) were spooky and fun, but the clues and puzzles didn't feel intuitive. I felt like they were based on some individual writer's strange logic, and I wasted A LOT of time interacting with characters/items when it wasn't necessary. The game play follows a very firm, predetermined path, and if you fail to find the clues in the right order, you can get stuck without a way to backtrack.

The biggest reasons why I would steer someone away from this game:
1) the ratio of clues per "search area" is very low. You will likely spend hours searching areas where there just aren't any clues or items to find.
2) game bugs that can mislead players. For example, in one spot I picked up an inventory item, and decided to go back later and see if I missed something. That same inventory item I picked up was again where I had first found it, even though it was already in my inventory. Additionally, I would search in an area only to come back later and find an item. In some other games, this would be a normal progression of the game (in which you must talk to a person, etc., in order for an item to be "available" to find). In this game, however, I'm pretty sure it's a glitch.

The game reminded me of "Amber" and "Shivers" (from the mid 90s), but the storylines in those games made clear sense as you played them and there were FAR more puzzles/clues to solve and discover. If you could stand the archaic graphics, I would suggest you find those two on an auction site and play them instead.

I'm actually pretty easy to please when it comes to adventure games, but this one was a true waste of money.
