"My Grandson and his Games"
My grandson really likes this game as well. You can''t budge him from his controller and fightings.

"Totally stupid AI. Your team's AI."
I am a campaign player, and have never tried the online element of this game. With that in mind, this is my review:

One thing about the AI that has improved from the previous game is that your team actually runs away to take cover when you place a C4 charge or place a Satchel on the ground. That's amazing common sense added to the teammates. But just as Zipper added that trait, something must be taken away, and that was AIM. Sadly, my teammates can't shoot things that are 5 yards away from them. It's plain sad to see my team continually shooting at a rock because the enemy is standing behind it, and then when the enemy is in plain sight, they would still miss. Their aim sucks. So be forewarned, you will have to make most of the kills.

Some other things were added that sounded great in writing, but didn't actually work out too well. First it was the addition of vehicles. It was great to have, really it was, especially when my teammates AIM was improved a thousandfold while working the mounted guns while the vehicle was jumping over a mound. But sometimes their reactions are slow, and even though I place them right in front of an enemy, they would still refuse to fire (with "fire at will" on). That's somewhat alright, as I know sometimes I cannot shoot them as quickly as my teammates. What really annoys me is the amount of babysitting I must do to get Bravo to actually follow me in a vehicle. I find myself often ramming them into the right direction. One word of advice, for the first mission, put your whole team into the jeep, as having Bravo in one jeep and Able in the other will simply cause headaches.

Here is one thing I've learned about Bravo's behavior on vehicles:
1. If you want Bravo to follow you on the vehicle they are in, have them FOLLOW before you have them MOUNT.
2. If you want them to simply sit in the vehicle and provide cover fire, you must tell them to HOLD POSITIONS, COVER AREA, the MOUNT. weird, huh? seriously.
3. If you want Bravo in another vehicle to follow your vehicle, command them to FOLLOW, then MOUNT their vehicle, then get into your vehicle and drive SLOWLY.
4. If they are already in a vehicle, and you tell them to HOLD POSITION, they will DISMOUNT. You must order them to MOUNT again. Ridiculous?

Second thing that's a little annoying are the points on the map which are labeled (not sure what these are called), like Charlie, Delta, Zulu, etc. These points often show up when you least want them to, especially when travelling and trying to spot potential tangos. There's gotta be a better way of showing where we need to go without obscuring our targets.

Other than those complaints, the gameplay is somewhat satisfying, offering a campaign that has very little satisfying bonus objectives (as oppossed to Socom I and II, when eavesdropping was important, when learning some bit of information helped with the next mission, when missing it made you want to replay the mission over, etc), very little incentive to be covert, and very little incentive to replay the missions. I could have just went through the entire game running in with guns blazing, and there were times when I did!

The missions themselves are a bunch of the same: seek and destroy, rescue and escort, escort and protect, blow this up, blow that up, recon, and capture the enemy. It's pretty much the same things from previous Socoms, but with bigger maps, enemies that actually use cover, and vehicles that are actually helpful in certain occasions.

Even though I've said a lot of negative things about this game, I'll still give it 4 stars because of the fun I've had with it, although there were many times of frustration. I've learned that all games have their quirks, and some games require more patience than others as to maintain their challenge level.

"SOCOM III"
It is still the best game for war fighting out there. However if you don't like stupid endings to a game then this one will make you mad.

"PLAYSTATION 2 SOCOM Serial: SOCOM 3"
SOCOM. SNEAK, ESCORTEE, MOUNT. I have three SOCOM titles-SOCOM SOCOM 2 SOCOM 3.
This is a game you have to like. Commands and textbook practice gets you rank. I spent the sweat and purchased.

"shooter game"
good game, good fun, beat it in 3 days. Could have been longer but good for the price.

"video game", Son enjoys this game-it is a bit hard, but he is up to the challenge

"Best PS2 Game that I own",
If you play online; this is probably the second best PS2 game you could ask for (Socom 2 is the best). The online undeniably fun when playing with friends and using a USB headset.

I actually never played the single player game; so I can't really give an opinion on that part of the game.

"socom", great video game.very high replay value.would recommend all socom games to
gamers around the world.

"Glitches are too damn much!!!!", I own the first two SOCOM games, I love them too, despite the mild glitches and such. This game is alot like the first two but with changes to the engine, most of them are positive changes making the game very enjoyable such as graphics and controls. On the other hand, these positives are heavily overwhelmed by the oversights, poor testing and shoddy programming destroying the enjoyability of the game. The worst change is that your fireteam is the most retarded and blind group in any game EVER!

In the early installments of SOCOM your team was picking the enemy off at great distances before you even saw them. Well, in this installment, often times I found a teammate getting shot by an enemy in the open and not returning fire, and this is when they weren't getting lost or stuck in the environment. I quickly found myself "carrying" the team, and babysitting them, not a very fun thing to do when trying to be an elite team of heroes.

Enemies just seem to appear out of nowhere at times, and they don't seem to die!!! How many 30 calibur rounds can a malnurished asian guy take?! So while your trying to put a super human weighing in at 98 pounds, your team isn't even helping you, they're most likely stuck on a post at the other side of a bridge while "Charley" pumps him full of rounds that work much better than your own. Some of the encounters with the enemy are scripted so they don't come from off map, they just appear from around a water line, a hut, or out of thin air. Very frustrating since your once amazing and well trained team are now blindfolded and stoned and firing blanks.

I never got into the multiplayer portion of the game, I never actually bother with it on any game, but the single player potion of the game is aweful. It really could have been great, it could have been a fun and unique experience, but sadly, it was plagued by so many problems, that it really came off as a third rate game slapped together and thrown down our gullets to try to appease the demand and create dollar signs. The SOCOM game has always been sprinkled with glitches and programming issues, but this time it's wayyy worse and it really kills the experience, I can't recommend it at all.

"very good", the game is quite good something complicated but very entertained for which they like east type of game

"Not as Great as Overrated Reviews - Socom II Better", Socom 3 is the worst of the series. The previous series where more realistic in gameplay while Socom 3 is more arcade like. For example, you and your team is automatically healed at checkpoints on the same mission - how realistic is that? I enjoyed playing Socom 1 with the knowledge all it takes is one shot. I was real frustrated when I played the Socom 3 Poland episode because it was arcade-style like Syphon Filter 1. I cannot stand stealth mission (or earning a driving license) on video games and wish game developers stop putting that in! The vehicles are also unrealistic and totally unneccessary.

People claiming this to be the best product ever are questionable at best. I'm a real Socom player and this has got to be the worst they put out in the series.

"Another addicting game!!", This game is actually better equipped with features than Socom 2. In this one, you get to shoot the lights out once again like the first. The second one took that away, so if you wanted to be stealthy and in the dark, good luck. Now you can shoot out the lights and keep your cover.

Being able to commandeer vehicles is great!!! One of the levels I managed to stop a truck after jumping into an enemy vehicle. My team then took out the truck. I also like the fact that the enemy will surrender if you do things right. I noticed that the commands have been drastically reduced. For example there is no more "Attack To", or "Stealth To" commands. It's just "Move To". I don't think there is even a "Run To" command. So, although this is kinda sad they always get caught anyway. I'm usually the one that tells the team to hold position and I move stealthily. Anyway, the missions are cool too. There is sure a lot of cool things. Crosstalk objectives and Bonus objectives are hidden. But, this game is so much fun. I hope they come out with a 4th!!! I really hope they continue the series just like they do with Medal of Honor. Buy the game. You won't regret it.

"The Best", Of all the games I've played for the Playstation 2, SOCOM 3 definately takes the cake. The campaign is fairly easy and its only real purpose is to unlock items for online play, and give players practice and familiarization for the game. The online is awsome, huge, and freakin' fun. Lots of people complain that the maps are too large and when you die you could wait a long time. Personally I love the big maps, but if anyone doesn't there are small versions of each map anyway. Vehicles also add a great element to the game; if it weren't for them the game would stink. There is a large addition of weopons and other equipment. Custamizable weapons really makes this game a winner. SOCOM 3 is the best online fun any military style gamer could have. I have had the game since it first came out and I am still having just as much playing it. And now there are even new maps becoming available, and it is sure there are more to come.

There is no other shooting game as good as SOCOM 3 (I like it better than Halo). The first two were great and this one is even better. It is a must get. It is definately the best.

"Best PS2 Game Ever!!!", I was first introduced to the socom series by my bro's PSP version Fireteam Bravo. His next visit, it didn't work so we went to GameStop and bought a PS2, Mem.card, etc., and SOCOM 3. In 3 world locations, terrain, and maps, it is awesome! And the bad guys speak foreign languages and there are subtitles so you can learn what they say. I love the night vision, and the weapons, attachments, pistols, and equipment makes this the closest game that you can get to be a SEAL without sacrificing a thing! ALSV's, Humvees, SUV's and technical pickups are awesome. I never played the online version in the 2 1/2 months I got this game, and its a bummer. The ONLY con(s) is that when you beat the whole game on all the ranks, unlock all the weapons, etc, it gets boring after a while. But wait until the next day, you will be dying to play it! I highly recommend this game!

"Good game, but enjoyed Socom II better.", Don't get me wrong, I think that Socom III is an excellent game for the Playstation 2. One of the best looking, interactive that I have seen in a long time, but I enjoyed Socom II alot more. I do not care for the large maps. It is not the producers fault, it is the players. Normally it comes down to the last person on the other team, and he or she decides " I'll camp ". Well that means you have to travel all over the map, normally resulting in not finding the person. If you've been killed by the other team or even by your own team member you have to wait along time. In Socom II maps were small enough that gameplay lasted about 2-3 mins a round. That's my only prob with socom 3 really, besides the fact that you had to enter your credit card to access the ranking. I do not like placing my credit card over the internet.

Other then the two things i've stated, Socom III is a really great game if you like army style games with huge maps.
