"Can't really recommend this unless ya want a pretty light."
I've had this product in my windowed Lian-Li PC-60 for about 5 months now. I had bought it for 2 reasons: to light up my case, and to help cool my 6800gt. Now the former it does pretty well-it is impressive to look at through the window (and it's easier to install than a cold cathode light). However, as an intake fan, it seems to bring in more dust than air (and my PC is in a finished basement that I try to keep tidy). At any fan setting other than low, the VCool's fan noise is noticeable over my other fans (3 Aerocool 80mm, 2 92mm Thermaltake Silent Cats, and the 120mm cooling my Enermax Liberty PSU), especially on the highest setting. But over the past month the VCool has started to do something particulary annoying-at bootup, the VCool would rev up to a very high speed, regardless of the setting on it's fan control. The first time it did it, I thought a cable had snarled into one of my case fans-that's how loud it is. I don't have the VCool hooked up to another fan control, and I'm just using a standard molex connector to power it, and there's a free PCI slot between it and my 6800gt, so there's no obstruction to cause the racket; I'm at a loss for the cause of it's behavior. It only did this sporadically at first, but within the past week, it has become a guarranteed occurance from a cold boot. The fan does quiet down eventually, but I feel the noise it now generates, the fact that the intake is unfiltered, along with the fact that I now have an Arctic Silencer for my video card (the VCool can't reach the intake of the cooler, even with it's extension attached), outweighs whatever decorative purpose it had.

"Excellent GPU cooler"
If you have a decent graphics card this is the perfect slot cooler to keep it running longer and cooler. I've had a bunch of slot coolers, but this is the only one I found that has an intake and exhaust. It does take up two PCI slots, but most mobos today have at least 5 slots so it shouldn't be a concern. Lowered my temp. on my card by 12 degrees.

"VGA cooler", The fan on my VGA card quit working and the manufacture could not replace it. I bought the VGA cooler to replace the fan and it has worked fine for over a year.

"Useless for an nVidia 8800GTS card", My temps before the insertion of this fan were 57c idle/67c load.

After insertion, with the switch set to "H" the temps were 57c idle/64c load.

In order to have the fan fit with the extender tube attached, the bottom clip had to be removed -- or else it wouldn't seat properly in the case. Pity there's no proper documentation to confirm things, so you just read it here. :) The clip can be effortlessly reattached as long as you don't break it off with force.

For this high-end video card, the fan just has no effect. For low-mid level video cards, it probably does what it claims on the packaging.

And it is a pretty shade of blue.


"BIG and low CFM but sure is pretty...", bought one of these babies at Staples, DID lower my temp (installed it directly below my 7600 xfx oven card and lowered temp by a measly 3C...but it sure does look pretty. Might return this and buy a replacement copper fan for the card for another 10 extra bucks and 10 extra min. install

"How fast can I get an RMA!?", My Dimension E520 case has a lot of room but this fan is just not designed well. It's to wide to fit in the PCI slot space. The fan presses up against the unused PCI Slots and doesn't fit in the screw slots to hold the hold the card in place. There is plenty of room on the other side of the fan so it's not a problems with the case. Vcool would be smart to resize the metal ends that hold the card in place. If the fan was off set more to one side it would fit no problem.

"VCooler: good or bad?", Beats me, I just got it yesterday but I'll update this review as time passes.

I have an HP and they seem to be prone to heat prostrate so I decided to get this yesterday, especially since last year the factory installed blower spent too much time kicking into emergency mode than I liked. This computer automatically turns the factory fan up to high when the air temperature reaches 72 degrees and it is loud. The Vcool I bought at Staples is only about one third as loud when turned up to high.

Pros: Has a high RPM.
Three speed selector switch.
Glows blue when turned on--pretty but who cares.
On low apparently is/almost is, silent.
On high about one third as loud as factory fan running full blast.
Apparently blows the air it sucks-in straight up.
Also I seem to remember some of this air is blown down--not much.
I'm not sure about the temperature difference, however my computer
fan usually goes high speed about six times a day, today it turned on only once.
The price is fair--no s/h charges.

Cons:
So far, only one: they should have included instructions with the
the device instead of assuming everybody can reach them on the
internet for a down load. I hope I hooked mine up correctly.

I'll add to or take away from this review when I know more--bye!
