"Exciting Game", This was a well worth purchase. It has brought hours of exciting challenges and enjoyment.

"Sent back", I sent this game back because it was the wrong one. I needed Madden 06 for the Playstation.

"Looks like fun.", I'm sure this game is a blast like all Madden games. However; I have not been able to get it to load on my PC. I'm not surprised as it has been my experience that EA has a hard time making stable PC games. I surpass all system requirements two fold and it still locks up when loading. EA support has not been much help at all. They responded to me with the obvious, no-brainer fixes. I have given up until I reformat my PC.

"Awesome game until...", Now, I'm not going to talk about how awesome or bad Madden 06 is, I'm going to talk about the only ugly part of the game, Kicking and Punting. We all know kicking can be the difference between winning and losing. Let me give you a scenario, at All-Pro difficulty, using Adam Vinatieri, 20 yards away for the win, and he miss... bad. Kicking game is very hard and frustrating, even Extra Point can be a pain in the neck. I know some of you out there will say, you guys never had this problem, thats fine, but if you look at the reviews, almost everyone got something to say about the kicking game.

Punting is also an issue. Positioning in football is very important but how in the world can my guys stand and DONT and I mean DONT block at all!!! It is very rare that I'm able to do a punt return. And if you dont call Fair Catch, its a guaranteed fumble everytime. However, if I'm the one punting the ball, the AI has this awesome special team that BLOCKS and allows their punt returner to gain decent yardage.

Now, Madden 06 is a very good game, please dont misinterpret my review, I'm just trying to inform you of what to expect and that is a very bad kicking and punting system. Everything else is awesome, and I'm still enjoying the game despite those frustrations. Enjoy!

"Raymond James' Crowd was a sea of ... Blue?", I hadn't "upgraded" Madden since the 2003 version. I could tell I wasn't missing much. In fact, the game has taken a couple of steps backwards. Maybe it is different on the console boxes but on the PC there are a bunch of problems:

* Raymond James Stadium, home of the Buccaneers. I had to pause the game and go to the camera to zoom in on the boat in the end zone. Why? Because it looks like a grey elephant from the field!
* Raymond James, again. Tampa Bay's colors are red & black. What color are the fans dressed in? Blue.
* In franchise mode, just play 4-3, cover 3. No need to change the play call ever...you'll be the #1 defense with lots of INTs.
* People on the sidelines look like they are wearing masks and their entire animation is to move back and forth.
* Win the superbowl and the gatorade tub is dumped on the coach, but there is no graphics for the water!
* Let the play clock count down to 3 seconds and the center will always start pointing at the defense.
* As the game goes on, teams in white get the exact same stains on all their uniforms.
* Superstar mode is a great idea but a joke. You are given stupid choices throughout, and when it is time to renew your contract your choices are: let the agent choose your salary or try to leave your team so you have a choice of 5 offers. When you retire, you'd think there would we some sort of "end game" farewell. Well, sorry, it just goes back to the main menu. There is a "cell phone" option where you get messages from a veteran and your agent, etc. The messages are the SAME from one year to the next. For 12 seasons my QB superstar got the same message over and over saying "grats on being a starter now".

I never tried the online aspect of the game, but the single player options are bad.

"good as ever", Madden just gets better every year. Some of the new features, most noteably Superstar mode, aren't really worthwhile or all that much fun. On the other hand, precision passing was a HUGE addition to this game. It makes the game even more realistic; no more blind passes across your body to the other side of the field. The truck stick really balances out the defensive hit stick nicely. The graphics arent much improved, but they were so good in the first place that it didnt matter. Overall, the greatest football simulation to date.

"Madden 2006 is awesome!!!!!!", Madden 2006 is by far the best game I have ever played. The coolest new addition is the Superstar Mode, which lets you create your own NFL prospect and live the life of a pro player. On the field, as a runner you can use the Tuck Stick, which allows you to barrel through defenders. On defense, you can basically double the impact when you tackle someone by using the Hit Stick. Also, the graphics were improved, mostly on the non-players like the crowd. Now, the benchwarmer's heads are no longer are shaped like triangles. Along with that, the crowd's sound is very realistic, although their graphics could be revamped a little bit. John Madden and Al Michaels' conversations flow very well, and they aren't repetitive at all. Also, the soundtrack on the game has fantastic music. Overall, Madden 2006 is the best game on the market, and it was well worth purchasing.

"Madden 2006", Great game, better stat tracking than the PS2 and XBOX, but worse game control with controllers and suchs. Still a great game though. Kicking game is horrible on the PC.

"They didn't fix the things that needed fixing!", The latest Madden game has a lot of new wrinkles, including completely revamped passing controls, but in my opinion the designers did not address the most serious weaknesses of the game. Instead, they added a lot of gimmicks, like "superstar mode," which gets boring quickly.

The two biggest weaknesses of the Madden series, from the beginning, have been (1) you cannot see everything that happens and (2) the computer seems to think the field of play is two-dimensional. I understand that it would be virtually impossible to create a game that allows you to control all eleven players at once, but Madden can be frustrating because your teammates often do incredibly stupid things on the field--like stand around while the receiver they're supposed to be covering gets open--and, since you can't see the whole field during the action, there are many times when you don't even realize what happened until you watch on instant replay.

It's very clear from all the interceptions that the computer must be thinking of the field as essentially a two-dimensional space. In other words, it seems to forget that there is height, too--or at least it doesn't do enough to take height into consideration. Basically, as long as a defender stands somewhere between the passer and the receiver, he has a chance to intercept the ball, even if the receiver has beaten him badly and the ball SHOULD have been thrown way over his head. Precision passing doesn't seem to have eliminated this problem. And it works the other way, too: as a defender, I intercept passes I have no business intercepting. This is also part of the reason why there are too many turnovers in the game. (The other reason is that everyone fumbles too much.)

On the plus side: the kicking controls make much more sense now, and the graphics are only getting better. I also get the feeling that you have a little more time as a QB in Madden 2006; one of my gripes about the older versions was that you didn't have enough time as a passer for receivers to run their routes. Almost everything had to be a quick pass.

Add it all up, and I'm afraid I'm not going to buy Madden next year. Yes, they've worked on it, but it's still basically the same game.
