"Excellent mouse" Excellent mouse: Light Fast Minimal friction
Would recommend to anyone.
"A Great Mouse with Cool Design" I purchased Logitech MX518 because my old optical mouse is dead. I am not a gamer, but looking at the various reviews for this product, I am tempted to try this mouse out. (Plus, the price is not too bad at all)
The overall feel of this mouse is great and it's just about the right weight for an average user. The extra and thumb buttons are positioned well that I never accidentally clicked them. You can also change the sensitivity of the mouse, which is a plus.
Installation of the mouse is easy and as soon as I got the mouse, I followed the instructions on the package, plugged in the USB, and the mouse worked like a charm. the cord is not flimsy and it's long enough for all use in my opinion. I kind of like the "metallic" design too.
Overall, this mouse is very good even for those who don't really play games.
"great mouse cheaper than G-5" Mouse works like a champ I use it to play unreal 2004 and unreal 3
"Solid all-around mouse" This mouse not only does everything Logitech says it will and does it well, it's a good mouse when you're not gaming as well. The on-the-fly sensitivity switch is handy for applications like Photoshop, and the forward and back side buttons make web surfing a lot easier.
I rate 4 stars instead of 5 because of two complaints: 1) The recessed chamber where the diode is housed invariably gets dusty even though the mouse is laying flat and is used on a clean surface (don't ask me how), requiring a compressed air blast every couple of days to get it back up to speed. But this takes two seconds. 2) The last MX518 I had died when the cord connection at the top of the mouse got a little loose and the mouse would cut out, to the point where it was frustrating. It would have been nice to not replace the product every several years, but the mouse had seen a couple years of extensive gaming, so I'm willing to forgive it for that.
"Still the best gaming mouse out there.." My previous mouse was a logitech bluetooth mouse, which I'd been using for several years. It finally started acting up and the MX518 is identical except for the cord. Got to love the extra thumb buttons!

What our customer's say!
"It's just OK!", Well, this is my everyday mouse. At first i was amazed by the mouse because it was my second optical mouse replacing a cheap logitech optical mouse. After almost 10 months of using it, i'm no longer amazed. First, the sensitivity increase buttons are too sensitive. I always pressed the button to lower the sensitivity every time i used the scroll wheel in the middle of games. Second, clicks sometimes didn't work. This happened when using applications or gaming. After a while, i realized it was because of mouse sensitivity too, so i ended disabling the sensitivity buttons to play games and lowering the sensitivity manually to click without problems. At least SetPoint software worked for something. Overall, just an OK mouse. Perhaps i got a bad mouse. It will be replaced soon.
"Best FPS CSS mouse!!", I am a css player (yes i am also a cal-im baddie). Owned many mice include the razer daimondback, ms intelli 1.1a, razer deathadder, and logitech g5, and the steelseries ikari optical. All of the above are great mice for css. But the fact I would like to point out is that the mx518 beats out all of them. My previous mouse was the deathadder, liked it a lot had it for a couple of yrs. Never tried the mx518 even though it came out for a while now. Now that i got it, love it even more. Threw my deathadder aside and this became my baby!!
"razor replacement", Logitech's Gaming Optical Mouse is what I chose to replace my worn down optical razor mouse from two years ago. It doesn't have as many side buttons as the razor did, but it was very rare for me to use all the buttons. Leaning around corners with this mouse is taking a bit to get used to doing. For the slightly discounted price I got this mouse for I am very pleased with how it does in 1st person shooters.
"Great gaming mouse", Very pleased with this product. Easy to use, plug & play setup. Kind of big for my hand but oh well. I use it to play World of Warcraft & I haven't had any problems with it at all. The side thumb buttons are very convenient to keybind.
"Great Mouse", I originally purchased this mouse for gaming, but haven't had much time to play games but it has been flawless in other applications, XP, Vista and Linux. Feels great and is very accurate. I have never had any trouble with Logitech products and recommend them highly.

"Something wrong with this mouse", this mouth is great when it works. I got the first mouse, and after a year or so some buttons stopped to work. I got the second mouse, and after few month the right click button stopped working and became absolutly worthless, because you cannot assign right click to any other button.
"Great for gaming, but not JUST a gaming mouse. Works with Vista 64-bit! ", I upgraded to this mouse a few months ago because I wanted a higher DPI mouse for both games, and normal use. I purchased this one after reading reviews here, and on a few other web pages. The reviews were right: this mouse is excellent.
Pros:
Fast, accurate and precise movement
The three settings for speed that can be changed on the fly. This feature is very useful when you need fast-twitch action one second, and more precision the next.
Smooth, almost frictionless. Glides over my mouse pad.
Easy software set up, although Vista doesn't need any drivers to run it. (I'm on Vista 64-bit, and this mouse works perfectly).
Cons:
I'm not a fan of the "claw and tooth mark" finish. Just a preference, and doesn't detract from its performance.
If you want a reasonably priced, fast, accurate and precise mouse for games and other applications, look to further.
"2 years and still going strong.", I won this mouse at the 2006 E3 from a very cute Logitech rep, and I have to say it's the most amazing mouse I've ever owned.
Pros: Design - I really love the left to right slope design in mice. I am so used to this design that if I use a regular/flat mouse I usually end up right clicking on everything. Mouse isn't tiny, good for my huge hands.
Tracking - You know how when you move some optical mice really fast the pointer may sometimes go the opposite direction. It's like when you see something spinning in low light, sometimes it looks like it's spinning in the opposite direction. A lot of older mice suffer from this. The MX518 never has this problem. Like the more expensive Laser mice, this mouse never misses a beat. It's truly amazing. The mouse also works on every surface save a mirror, have tried several mouse pad designs in the past, each one works great.
Sensitivity - Switch your mouse DPS from 100dps to 1600dps with a button press (+ and - buttons above and below the mouse wheel). (3 pre-sets, that are adjustable, handy)
Price - $48 here, but I've seen lower, and it's worth every penny.
Cons: Button Placement - Sometimes you tap the thumb buttons on accident or the sensitivity buttons. Easy to overcome.
Cord - it's long, would be nice if it came short with an extension for those of us who plug their mice into their keyboards.
Drivers - Bloated, and the Mouse and my G15 keyboard drivers are seperate. Really Logitech, you can't get the keyboard programs to integrate with the mouse programs? Ah well, at least the programs running fairly quietly. Until they need an update. Just update the program, don't tell me you're gonna do it. -- Summary: Great product. it's been around a LONG time, and with good reason, it really is an amazing mouse.
Too bad there's 240+ reviews on Amazon for it already. Ah well,
-Andy
"Get a Diamondback Razer 3G", It's big and uncomfortalbe. Wish the big hump wasn't there. Hard to pick up when your hands on it. Comfortable for the first 30-45 minutes. Nowhere to put your pinky comfortably. I returned it and ordered a Diamondbck Razer 3G. Lighter weight, more erogonomic, fits left handed and right handed people. Same sensitivity. I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!!!!
"Best Gaming/everyday use mouse yet!", I have had this mouse for three years now and all I've got from it is satisfaction. It's a very accurate, light and ergonomic mouse that just feels right when in hand. Many useful buttons on the mouse that don't give you that cheap feeling some mice do and the texture is nothing less than perfect (if you keep your hands clean and be courteous to your computer gear). It IS chorded so it's relatively lighter than other wireless mice but the chord could get a little annoying if you're really used to wireless. Another amazing thing about this mouse is the support behind it. Logitech has one of the most understanding and willing to help support center with people who seem to actually want to help you in-case of a problem. I have fallen in love with Logitech brand mainly for that specific reason. I definitely recommend this mouse to anyone, and especially the gamers. Although they could have gone with a cheaper price tag, you will not regret making this purchase.
