"Don't Buy it unless you like downtime while cleaning the scroll wheel"
The mouse itself is sleek, slick and effortless to use. However, it loses ALL of it's stars (and Apple loses alot of my good will), because of the scroll wheel issue. If you don't believe me just go out on the 'net and search "mighty mac scroll down" and watch the anger rise up from cyberspace. I am FAR from alone.

I bought my iMac Pro in December of 2007 and I'm ALREADY on my second mouse- both of them with the same exact problem. After a very short while, you will notice the scroll wheel not working when you're scrolling down. ALOT.

So, you have to stop what you're doing, blow into the hole AND / OR clean the wheel with a damp cloth AND / OR turn the mouse over and roll it around on a cloth or a piece of paper to dislodge whatever miniscule dust or dirt particle gets in the wheel house of the mouse. You can't open up the mouse without a major hassle so you're left frustrated and wanting to switch to Logitech bad. It doesn't seem to take much- any microscopic little bit of dust or dirt that gets in there will see you spending plenty of time trying to get the thing working properly. And when you do fix it, it won't take long for the very same problem to recur.

On the other hand, it's a great mouse if you work in a freakin' clean room.

The store felt replaced my first one at no cost and when I was there to pick up this new replacement the guy said "I doubt you'll have much better luck with this one, to be honest".

"Great addition for your Mac, but scroll ball is so-so."
First off, I don't own this product. I used it for ten minutes at a local store. So, anyway, here we go:

When I used the MM (Mighty Mouse), I thought that Apple had made another great product. After another few minutes, I became a bit disenchanted because the scroll ball was so hard to use. Other than that, I loved the mouse. It's great that you can squeeze it to call up the Dashboard (default; you can change what this does) and click the scroll ball to do something else (Spaces, maybe).

All in all, this is a great mouse and a good choice to buy for your Mac.

"This is an awful product"
This is simply an awful product. Even the reviews on the MAC website concur with this opinion.

The problems are numerous: the cord is too short, the right-click button is difficult to consistently find/use, the scroll button broke after two months, and the two side buttons have NO USE whatsoever. In fact, the two side buttons take so much effort to press, I only used them a couple days because my wrist was becoming sore.

This is a product that should be avoided at all costs. The scroll button breaking issue has been reported by numerous users on reviews here and on MAC - this is not a fluke. I have nothing good to say about this product except that it looks nice.... but I'd take an ugly functional mouse over a pretty poorly-designed mouse any day.

"brilliant until gets dirty"
this mouse came with my intel-imac 17", and i loved it. the 360 degree scroll is something fascinating and very intuitive to use, and also the lateral button was very good as "exposé". maybe i prefer the rough finish of traditional mouses better instead of the shiny one of the mighty mouse, but that's no real issue when the mouse works.

but in less then 3 months of use, the scroll stopped working and after research in the net, i found that the mouse has a serious project issue that prevents it from being properly cleaned: your sweat just enters the scroll and stays there.

i tried all the methods of cleaning, high-pressure air, alcohol, water with mild soap, pencils, vacuum cleaner - everything i've heard people saying - but 30 min later the scroll was again faulty.

there are things that must only work, and it's not conceivable to spend time trying to make the mouse work. that's so true that when i plugged the microsoft mouse on my computer, there was no way back for the mighty mouse: he is back to his nice box inside my also nice imac box.

only thing i miss is the looks - so fitted with the imac. for this one, i couldn't still find a proper successor...

"Not a two button mouse"
The product review claims, "...detect where you're clicking, transforming your sleek, one-button mouse into a two-button wonder." To use the right hand click on this mouse, one must remove the left part of your hand from the mouse or it will register as a normal click. This is extremely inconvenient. Next time Apple should try to make a true two button mouse or change the logic of their software. I shouldn't have to change how I use my mouse to accommodate a product with a UI flaw.

What our customer's say!

"Use WB40 to clean, not alcohol !", Don't use alchohol to clean the track ball assembly, alchohol is corrosive and the improvement would be short-lived, use WB40 or similar, you don't really want that alcohol getting anywhere near metal connections/contacts, I know Apple recommends alcohol for this job, are they drunk? Just make sure you wipe the ball dry, petroleum products are not really good for rubber.
Othewise it's the best mouse i have ever had (I own the wired version).

"No problems with the scroll ball, I love it", I do not own this mouser personally, yet. However, I use one every single day at school. The scroll ball never jams or stalls. It works perfectly.

I simply do not see what is the complaint with it. These mice are used in a public computer lab for hours upon hours every day, but even they keyboards fare worse than the mighty mouse. The scroll is natural and effortless. These are well over a year old and they do not give us any trouble.

The reason I only gave it 4 stars (though 4.5 is more accurate) is that the squeeze is a bit stiff generally, and the right click is somewhat awkward as you cannot have your finger resting on the left side as you click. It's easy enough to adjust to however.

"Absolute crap", Wherever Apple's brand is connected with quality and good design, it won't hold here. A mouse is hardly -what you would call- the product of advanced engineering, yet Apple managed to produce something so useless, it resides on my desk with a scrollwheel, that was never meant to give you good grip, and that's now jammed. I won't even go into the details of randomly swapping clicks. Yes, i know Macs have no need for a right-click button. Should it not work properly then for only that reason?

"Brilliant... until it breaks", The Apple Mighty mouse (in both USB and wireless formats) is a worthy contender for the best mouse ever made. In particular, its tiny hyper-sensitive vertical & horizontal scroll button genuinely speeds up on-screen "productivity" to a level that, once you've got used to it, nothing else will do. Brilliant, that is until the scroll button stops working which in my case is about every 9 to 12 months. Bad news then... well yes, no piece of kit should do this, but right or wrong that's the way it is and when it happens I happily shell-out for a new one because it's that good to use. Look on it as the world's best disposable mouse and you won't be disappointed...

"Five stars only If the cable was longer", Great gadget. Every feature works perfectly. But... The cable is too short. It should be ok if you connect the mouse to a USB plug on a keyboard. But I bought it to use with my MacBook. Bad idea. The fact is: after using a wireless mouse for months I just wanted a regular one. The wireless mouse looks perfect in concept. But when it gets out of juice at the worst moments you just think: why I didn't buy it with a cord, dammit! Another thing I don't like about the cordless mouses is that they tend to drop from the table and go (with a bang!) to the floor. A mouse with a cable has a safeguard: it doesn't let it go straight to the floor. Think about it before getting into the wireless hype.

"buy it!", This is the single greatest thing for a mac since plug and play.
I love this thing! A lot of people have written about how it sticks and the ball gets dirty. I will have to wait and see. But for now.... I LOVE IT!

"Breaks alot", I use this item at work. So far in the span of about 2 months, 2 of them have broken, meaning the middle ball stopped scrolling downward.
Another complaint I have is that the left and right mouse click isn't reliable because they actually aren't separate buttons. Periodically the mouse also goes into spaz mode where it will autoclick by itself for long periods of time (up to a minute).
I'm not impressed, and have to replace 2 mice now and will not purchase another unmighty mouse.

"Love my Mighty Mouse", Awesome mouse, works as advertised. Love the little scroll ball on top. Never sticks. Very sensitive and intuitive. No problems using it on our Intel Mac with 10.4. I like the the power cord attached - that way it doesn't run away.

Be forewarned though - I have two, and on my old iMac with 10.2.8, the left and right sides of the mouse cause different actions, and there's no way to turn that feature off with 10.2.8. So you have to remember to lean to the left for normal mouse presses.

"Nice mouse and lots of good features", The basic mac mouse was always the only "not as good as a PC" part. Problem solved with this mouse.
Easy to install, lovely little scroll wheel.

"Apple is Apple", Well, it is a great mouse. So user friendly, elegant and simple. The only "not-so-perfect" part of it - and the reason I brought this up is not so much that it bothers me as that we all have high (and often unrealistic) expectations for Apple products so that this would become not so perfect for an Apple product - is that the cord is ridiculously short. And I do not understand this part of design, if there is design on purpose. To promote its wireless mouse? Not too plausible, because my experience with the Apple products has been that the company seeks perfection as long as the product bears the Apple brand. Then, why is this? The designer thinks that the cord doesn't have to be longer? Not plausible, either. Common sense tells us that it needs to be longer, especially because all the USB outlets are on the left side of the Macbook. Well, I don't know about desktops, maybe there is no cord problem with desktops. But I would rather blame the company for this imperfection than under-estimating the intelligence and thoughfulness of the designers. Despite all these, I still admire the mouse and am in love with it. One side note (and I think some people already mentioned it here), it gets dirty very easy and fast, so prepare yourself with a cloth. And you know what? Even if this might sound like a downside, I still couldn't help owning it. Once you meet the Apple, there is no turning back.
