"Very Good for the Price"
Over the last year I have purchased or received with new hardware, various types of movie making software and was disappointed with the results. Either they made very poor quality products or my computer just could never quite finish the task. This program works great. Downloading the manual will not begin to tell you what it can do. My computer is a Pentium 4, 2.53 Ghz with 512M RAM. I use this software with a Sony digital camcorder DCR-HC40. Just finished and published to DVD my nephew's wedding. My family was suprised at the quality of the end product.

"Was considering purchasing Roxio EMC 7.5.or 8.0 "
After reading reviews, I decided not to waste money on this product due to the over whelming amount of negative reviews. It would be nice if a company came out with a good product that got good reviews across the board. I just want a product to transfer LPs/45s to CD thru my PC and of course without damaging the data on my HDDs. One final note, I use Windows XP and have installed software that did not work properly and used System Restore to put it back to the configuration before install and problem solved and I use Ghost 9.0 to backup my HDDs weekly just in case of a major crash or ? If it happens, I can install the entire operating system on a Re-Formatted HDD which includes everything and registry and drivers, etc. etc. etc. All reviews were the deciding factor in my decision not to purchase. I hope this helps other users. Oh yeah, 56K is nothing but a bad memory or it could have taken a day or 2 to get this review posted for your consideration. Good Luck To You All!! dave

"Outdated"
This product has been superceded by Easy Media Creator 8 Suite. Roxio is now owned by Sonic (makers of 'MyDVD').
7.5 was an incremental upgrade. 8 is a new product with a new interface and numerous new features. It is a huge product suite that makes lots of system changes- install it carefully.

Always make sure you have your registry backed-up before installing software like this (I recommend Iolo 'System Mechanic' 5 or 6 for registry maintenance and back-up- as well as other maintenance you should be doing regulary).

Even better, buy a disk imaging program (I recommend Acronis 'True Image 9') to make digit for digit copies of your drives before making any major changes to software and hardware configurations.

I purchased this software as a clearance item from a major national office supply store.

As said by an earlier reviewer, I should have read the reviews here first.

Fortunately, this program has not damaged my computer, at least not that I'm aware of. Why? Because the lousy thing won't even install! I have made numerous attempts to install, using the 'full', 'typical' and 'custom' configurations, all to no avail. Each attempt to install ends with an error message saying that the function has been terminated. The program then backs out the data it had written.

Doesn't matter what price you find this clunker at, it's a waste of money.

i've been using roxio products for many many years. for me, they've installed and been VERY useful. but appears roxio's latest version isn't really up to date at all - they appear to be selling a version without dual-layer disc support. i'd wait until they release a version that does.

this version is essentially obsolete.
