"It works but poor construction", I paid an extra $5 over a generic brand because I thought it would have better quality. Normally, I believe you get what you pay for, but clearly not the case here. Although the audio works well with my iPod, the tape mechanism is very loud and annoying. I need to turn the volume up unnecessarily to drown out the clicking noise it makes. Will buy generic adapter when this one breaks.

"Bad for Car Stereos", The wire that is connected to the Tape is on the wrong side, so when inserted into a car tape deck it rubs up against the inside of it and makes it difficult to pull out or push in. I went and got the well reviewed PH 02050 from wal mart $10 much better. Besides I don't think the one I bought from this place is really a phillips anyway...it doesn't say on the tape and they shipped without packaging....shady.

"Surprisingly Good", Great sound. Turn your ipod up to about 80% and rock out. Way better than FM modulator. Got it at Wal-Mart for $10.

"philips cassette adapter", Get it at Walmart for $10!! It's hit or miss with these adapters. Then, if it doesn't work, you can just return it with no problems. Don't deal with online retailers for these things, you very well may need to return it. Mine works fine in a 99 maxima. little if any mechanical grinding or stereo noise when in cassette player but not playing hum kind of sound. Got it to replace a Sony CPA-9C that I had for a cd player. The sony stopped working in my car. So far the philips works fine.

"Delightful but needs replacement often.", I have purchased two of these in the past and am looking to purchase a third. They work very well.
They need to be replaced about once a year. The first one I owned lost sound on the left channel. With the second one, the sound became very quiet and almost echoey.
It is a great product, but be aware you may have to replace it after about a year of heavy use.

"An Option that works", After the CD player in my truck crapped out, I bought this product to connect up my Sansa Clip MP3 player. It works fine. It was a cheap and better alternative to the CD player.

"Tape adapter works wonders !", The Philips tape adapter I purchased is working great. I use it everyday to play music from my ipod through my suv's speakers. The sound quality is great, and I'm happy with the product. The only thing i've noticed that isn't perfect, is that if you turn the car speakers up close to all the way (I'm talking blow you out of the rig high) without any music playing, you can hear a slight "sssssss" sound. It only becomes present if you have the volume really high. If you play music with the ipod volume low, and the car volume high, you can hear a faint "ssssss" but it is very mild. If you turn the ipod up, and the car radio down, the "sssss" goes away. You can listen to your music way too loud, without hearing any extra sound with this product.

"Works well", I've used this with my iPod in my car a couple of times and it seems to work just fine. I had a similar adaptor and it kept ejecting from the tape deck which was a hassle. No such problem with this one. I don't have a great sound system in my car so I can't vouch the sound quality but I'm quite satisfied.

"very good value for money", I'm on my fourth one of these in about 3 years, but I'm not complaining. I bought the first because the much more expensive Griffin FM transmitter I was using to listen to my iPod in the car stunk. This gives much better sound quality. Each of them has lasted for about 8-10 months. Two have developed shorts making one of the stereo channels inaudible, and the other's spindles just got too noisy to be tolerable. I'm a big fan of Amazon's prices in general, but I've found that this item has always been $3-4 cheaper at my local discount retailer that starts with W, even after sales tax and factoring in free super saver or Amazon Prime shipping.

Do the ones that cost twice as much sound twice as good, or last twice as long? I doubt it. This item is good value for money, for those of us who have a tape deck but no audio in port or iPod dock in our cars.


"You Just Can't Expect Alot of Life from These", These cassette adapters usually won't last for more than a year. So buy a cheap one (this one is as good as any) and consider it the price you have to pay to enjoy your mp3 player in your car.
