Others say...

"Great at night.. but blown out in the daylight..."
This cam is great really. The built in mic is awesome. It perfroms well in medium to dark light. It is flexible. The privacy shade is helpful. It's easy to set up.. All around, it's great!

My ONLY (and I do mean only) problem I have is that it perfoms poorly durring the daylight. Even with my blinds pulled down, daylight is simply too much for this little baby to handle. The light get's blown out and all the rest makes you look like you haven't slept or eaten in days. I gave it three stars, because no matter how awesome it perfoms, it's only really useful at night. Dang.

"Harware is OK if you can stand the drivers"
I have 2 of these that I purchased at the same time. Clean and clear video and a pretty good mic built in, but there are issues with the software. If you turn the exposure up past 2/3 your frame rate will drop to 15. Since the low light compensation feature automatically turns it up to %100 you cannot use it, and must turn the feature off and manually drop the exposure setting, the compensate for the low light by adjusting the other settings. There goes the "right light" feature down the drain. Next is the fancy echo cancellation and background noise removal for the built in mic. In order for this feature to be enabled, your audio card's acceleration features are turned to "low" by default automatically by the software, which then disables your 3D sound and can actually cripple your 5.1 sound killing all but your front speakers(which was the case on my computer). Turning this feature off and manually fixing the acceleration feature in Windows corrects this per Logitech's website... but, there goes the "right sound" feature out the window.

What you have here is a camera with a lot of potential, but with some horrible drivers and software that seems poorly written and badly designed. I would stay well clear of this camera, unless you are willing to deal with the above issues. I purchased 2 of these from a major retailer, and am considering returning them both in favor of something else.

"Decent camera."
For the price the camera is nice. Not the greatest image quality, but good enough considering the cost. If you have good lighting and a fairly quiet room it would work for you.

"Great colour, terrible frame rate!"
The colour is really good but the frame rate is appalling. Feed this through something like Skype and you have a colourful mess. The "Follow Me" feature is a useless gimmic that doesn't really work. The installation and software are indeed userfriendly but it's the hardware's performance that really matters.

Logitech ... how about answering this review and telling us all how to make the framerate work properly. I certainly would not recommend Logitech products after my experience of this camera. One other thing: yes, it is good with low light but I cannot get it to adjust to daylight!! Not much good for web-cam work out the window! Still, maybe I'm doing something wrong, something some nice person in Logitech could correct!

"Not recommended"
I bought 2 of these cameras last year (2006), still use one, but after going through a year of pain, investing numerous hours into trying to stabilize my XP SP2 system, and finding absolutely no support anywhere, I can safely say: do not buy this camera (and potentially other Logitech cameras that use the same software stack). The camera itself is ok, it works fine with Skype and other 3rd party software, but the Logitech software (even the latest version) is a major headache.
Specifically, after installing the drivers and utilities, the Windows Image Acquisition service (WIA) is being compromised and crashes the service container. Programs like the Windows Explorer, Adobe Premiere, etc that use WIA, continously try to restart the WIA service, which only crashes again right away. This renders the PC unusable, with long 30 second timeouts and countless exception messages popping up, and while disabling the WIA service fixed that problem, it is obviously not a solution.
I had forgotten about the problems that I had initally, and after I recently installed the latest drivers, it started all over again. Again, the WIA service crashed on two separate PCs once the drivers were installed - this is not some weird configuration issue.
Do yourself a favor a stay away from Logitech web cameras.
