"It's ... OK ...", I used this a lot on my XP based DELL Inspiron 640m laptop. I was able to record sound and video of old VHS-C tapes, convert them to video files, and upload them to Google Video. The quality was not fantastic, but neither was that of the original source tapes that were twenty years old.

Now I have a Vista based DELL Vostro 200 (desktop) and I can get the video and take screen shots and such, but no matter what I do--NO AUDIO! Very unhappy. I'll update this review if I can get it to work, with details on how.

"Good Tuner, but you gotta work out the kinks", I'm an IT guy and it took me a while to install, but here's what I finally figured out.

1) Upgrade your motherboard, chipset and bios to USB 2.0. My computer kept hanging on boot since I'm installing the TV tuner on an old PC, but the blue screen error and hang I kept getting were because the PC components didn't know how to talk usb 2.0 which is the latest version of USB. I went to [...] for my PC upgrades and downloaded the latest versions.

2) Ensure your boot order doesn't have USB device prioritized before primary hard drive. My pc thought I was trying to boot this TV input device as a hard drive so I had to force it to bypass USB and make USB as secondary boot up device.

Product Review: Overall I think this is a good device FOR THE MONEY. Picture quality is so-so, but I don't care about the quality yet cause I'm new to the whole DVR thing. Hope this helps.

"Great Product, Easy Install.....", This is an excellent product and very easy to install AS LONG AS YOU FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS!!! If you try to shortcut the instructions, it wont work. Other then that, it is very good quality tuner, with excellent recording quaility. It is a bit slow on response using a Digital Cable Box Guide. Overall, I give this product 5 stars for ease of use, and quaility for the money.

"Not the best TV tunner I have had but not the worst either.", Pros: The software for watching TV is very easy to set up and use. The video capture and screen shot features are very good quality. The DVR function is a nice addition to the software.

Cons: WARNING, DO NOT use the install software to set up the device driver, It crashed my system and corrupted my CD rom and onboard sound card drivers, I had to do a re-install of windows to fix it. Just plug in the USB and let the windows found new hardware wizard search the CD for a driver. Also the sound is very quiet coming from the USB connection, It works better to plug speakers into the audio output on the unit. And I have an issue with low frame rate and the video ( but not audio ) skipping while playing in full screen mode and my system is top of the line.

"Worked with 1 computer I tried it on, not with one with Vista", You might want to refer to my discussion on this product.

This tvbox worked with my XP system, but not with my Vista laptop. I think -I'm no expert though, it has something to do with the HDaudio driver not being WDMcompatible.

The support hasn't helped me at all so far. Very generic replies and they haven't replied to my latest support request.

If you want a tv tuner to work with vista media center I recommend you look for one compatible at microsoft marketplace. This one is definetely not compatible.

"Not a perfect solution...", After MANY attempts to make it work and then understand how to use it (as it doesn't include a good user manual), I could fainally record my first TV show but only in WMV format, as when I select the MPG option, it shows an error message when trying to record (and I have installed K-Lite pack with all drivers).

Now I'm using it to record some TV events for my personal video library.

By the way, third party software, like Pinnacle, recognizes the device and you can use it to control this TV Tuner/Video capture box.

"For $25, It's worth a shot", I have a Dell Inspiron laptop, with Win XP. Installed with absolutely no issues, and the quality of the recordings exceeded my expectations, given the mixed reviews.

I haven't used the product to record television... just for converting my older home movies. It records directly to mpeg, then I re-encode using divx to cut down on the file sizes. I'm very pleased with the results.

Reading the other reviews, there seems to be some driver issues that I did not personally experience. I think for the price, it's worth it to give this product a chance. Read the directions before plugging it in, etc., etc...

"Beware", If you want to record the game console like PS3, beware!! I tried several times to record from ps3 and it's not work. However, this device work on gamecube, so I have no idea why this one does not work on ps3. I used the same setup for both console. If anyone can help me to answer, I will be very appreciated.

"junk", This thing does a junk job. I hear some have gotten it to work, and kudos to them, but they must have PHD's in computer programming. This is not a user friendly product. After two days of downloading Vista drivers, testing, and retesting, and setting it up, I got absolutley nowhere - and I am pretty learned in computers. It is not worth the hassle for the low quality it is. You get what you pay for - I sent mine back. Sorry Sabrent, better luck to you on your next product.

"Read instruction FIRST", I tried installing the tuner/capture box like any other USB device and I got the Blue Screen of death when winXP install the driver(s).
I did a system restored of windows xp.
I then used the installation instruction that Sabrent sent with the box.
I did a step by step installation and the Sabrent TV-USB 2.0 tuner/capture adapter works perfectly. Good quality picture and great sound. The only negative so far is that it did not include the two AAA batteries for the remote and it would be nice if Sabrent included AV cables, but cables are not needed for TV operations. Like all (4) Sabrent items I own they all work perfectly. (computer - Dell D600)
