"Keeps its configuration" I first bought this router because of it's price. I had imagined that it would operate like any other router which includes a reconfiguration every now and then. I've had this router for two months now and it has a good strong signal in my 1600 square foot home. Even when I move my laptop to the other side of the house and my connection is down to two bars, the connection speeds stays fast.
As far as gaming; this is the router to have. The router configures the proper ports to open on its on when a game is started. It also works for downloading programs like Utorrent. Once the ports are not needed anymore, the router closes the ports.
For advanced users, this router is for you also. The web interface is fast and friendly but powerful. Once all the configurations are made, you will be able to save your configuration to your computer just in case you router loses its configuration.
"Some Laptop Incompatibility" I purchased a DGL-4300 router for Xbox Live and to connect my 4 computers. For Xbox Live compatibility, it had to be downgraded from 1.7 to 1.6. Downgrading and configuration of the router was no problem for me. Xbox Live worked well, my hardwired desktop worked fine, and 2 of my 3 wireless laptops worked fine. My Toshiba and Dell laptop connected without a problem. My IBM Thinkpad connected, but the Internet connection would lock up after a few minutes of use. I noticed LAN errors increasing rapidly with this laptop connected and some increase in LAN errors with the other laptops connected. I called D-link and they confirmed not to use 1.7 with Xbox Live and my downgrading to 1.6 was recommended for Xbox Live. They also acknowledged that there is a problem with some computer connections with firmware 1.6. They suggested I try downgrading the router to 1.2 or 1.3 firmware and see if that will work. Since many fixes have come out since the 1.2 and 1.3 firmware, I decided to return this router to Amazon. I reconnected my DI-624 router and all laptops, desktop, and Xbox Live are working fine again. If you don't have wireless laptops, then go ahead and purchase this for Xbox Live, but if you do, I highly recommend you stay away from the D-link DGL series of routers until D-link gets this fixed. By the way, I searched the Internet and I am not the only one who had this problem. D-link did not have a fix for this.
"Excelente Router para PSP" Compre este Router para mi psp slim y puedo decirles que es 100% compatible y lo reconoce de inmediato. La seƱal es bastante buena y el proceso de configuracion me parecio en lo particular, bastante sencillo. Lo recomiendo para PSP.

What our customer's say!
"Literally perfect", Let me start by saying this review is probably somewhat biased. I had an existing 802.11g wireless router that I had to reboot every 2-3 days because the DHCP service would apparently hang (clients couldn't get an IP until the unit was reset). This got old very quickly. This D-Link absolutely ROCKS. I've had it running for about a month now with nothing but perfect function! I was specifically looking for a wireless router that had gigabit ports - I don't care too much about wireless bandwidth (don't need "n"). Anyway, I've got at least "good" signal throughout my entire house - no less than 36Mb/s. My old "g" router would sometimes be as low as 2Mb/s or lose signal altogether. The D-Link doesn't run hot, gigabit is GREAT, wireless is GREAT. All-in-all a perfect "10"!
"Best Router ive owned", Okay, networking is complicated, im 14 and am a nerd. I run servers and things like that in my spare time. This was easy to set up. I dont even read the manuals, i just look up the gateway ip address and use the manual configuration. I never call technical support. If there is something wrong, figure it out, you always learn a lot, unless the hardware is bad or faulty. If you do need help, read about encryption, WPA only. Use MAC address filtering, you may or may not find a use for the extra features of this router. But the gamefuel works great.
"Works well... if you follow the instructions!", The D-Link DGL-4300 comes with a large glossy installation guide with large and clear instructions, but that didn't stop me from making one important mistake when setting it up. I plugged the power adapter in before I booted up my cable modem, and so the cable modem got its IP address from the D-Link router instead of the cable service. Once I realized what the problem was, I repeated the steps without a mistake and it has worked without a hitch since then.
The activity lights are a bit on the bright side, but that is a very minor quibble and aside from that there have been no problems at all.
"Excellent router, very stable wireless performance", I have a PS3, 2 laptops and a desktop which leverages the wireless b & g, 100 MBs & 1 Gigbit wired connections. In short it performs perfectly, can't ask for more, the reason I'm posting this review is that I realized how stable is it, after attempting to upgrade to another DLink router that incorporated Wireless n but turned to be a disaster.
"Great router for gamers and none gamers as well", This is a excellent router and allows for flawless online wireless play with any platform or game. However for the xbox there where some minor easily fixable issues. If you are going to play xbox live with this router only update to the 1.6 firmwire version for the routers software. Otherwise it will not be compatible for live. And other than that this router is superb in every sense. Im a computer technican and i found nothing wrong with this router and i recommend it to people all the time regardless if they play online games or not. Its a product you will definetely be happy with.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Total ripoff, defective junk!", It drops packets on wired connections, it has worse range than my BELKIN, and encryption on this joke of a router slows traffic down to 4MBPS! Total ripoff, defective junk!
I have had enough of these wireless routers, every one of them is no good. From D-Link to Linksys up and on down the line, THEY ARE ALL CHEAP PIECES OF JUNK!!!
I thought I had it bad with this BELKIN, but at least it has solid wired connections!
EDIT: Maybe it was just a defective unit...?
"Easy setup and outstanding performance", I bought this as a replacement for my DI-624, another quality D-Link product that lasted me almost 6 years (I had it running/downloading 24/7 and the wireless chipset began to give out; usually routers only last 2-3 years with heavy use like that). This is one quality upgrade...
For starters, the DGL-4300 has a high-quality (not sure if it is high-gain or not) antenna out of the box which immediately gave me a better signal throughout my home. The Admin interface is easy to use and has many more features than its predecessors. Be warned though: this is a "gaming" router, and all of the Admin function revolve around this principle, with port profiles for many popular games.
It does not have to be used exclusively for gaming, so don't be turned off with all of the jargon! The GameFuel technology it boasts is simply a fancy way of saying "bandwidth prioritization," and can be used for *anything* including VoIP services (so your call quality can be clearer). However, I am a gamer and used it "as advertised" for my X-box Live connection and instantly began to see better performance through online play, even when my wife was downloading music on her PC!
Security is easy to setup, with the option of 128-bit WEP and WPA methods, as well as MAC filtering (in order for any device to access your signal, they would need to have its unique MAC address stored on the device). Bottom line: no one will be accessing your signal without your permission!
All-in-all, this is a great upgrade for anyone with an older wireless router, and probably the best starter router anyone could get without new 802.11n technology. I highly recommend it as well as any other D-Link product.
"Fantastic bang for buck.", I've had this router for about a year now and have had much success with it. I therefore feel I can provide a fair review.
Pros: -Large feature set -Easy to configure in Basic mode -Great advanced features for advanced users -GameFuel priority routing is handy and noticeable in practice -Gigabit LAN is great for hard-wired connections -Solid security feature set; very highly configurable -Easy to manage security exemptions, etc. should you choose to use them -Refined firmware is a huge plus -This product just managed to edge out LinkSys in my opinion
Cons: -Actual D-Link support isn't great, but there is a wealth of information on the internet, so this really isn't a problem. -The painted finish got all gooey when someone tried to clean the thing with glass cleaner.
Overall: Fantastic bang for the buck. Greatly increase wireless signal strength and quality with an upgraded antenna (i.e. D-Link ANT24-0700). With the rebate, it's tough to beat!
"Great for PS3 - Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii", I'm writting this review because I read some of the others before I bought this Router, I noticed most people mentioned the PS3 and Xbox 360 worked fine with this router but couldn't find any reffering to the Nintendo Wii, so I bought it at Fry's and hoped it would work!
I got home and followed the "quick install guide" included in the package (plus instructions in the gaming systems) and I was done with the complete setup in about 30 minutes (it took me a while to figure out how to secure the signal)
All I can say is that I scored with this router!
This is my setup...
ROUTER IS IN MY ROOM Xbox 360 - Wired (In my room) PC - Wired (In my room) PS3 - Wireless (In the living room) Nintendo Wii - Wireless (In my kids room)
I am now playing Halo 3 on Xbox live (took a break to write this review) my younger son is downloading Wii software updates and my older son is playing Metal Gear Solid 4 online and everything is working great!
The only reason why I gave it four stars instead of five is because I could not find any direct instructions on how to secure the signal, got help from Yahoo Answers.
"D-Link DGL 4300 Wireless Router", I bought this to replace my 6 year old Linksys Wireless B router which finally stopped broadcasting. The D-link was recommended by the tech guys at our company. I had no problem installing it, which was a tremendous difference from my Linksys B and another Linksys G router I use elsewhere (not for long). Setting up WEP security was simple and our laptops in the house picked up the signal quickly. We have only used it about a month, but it seems quite good. One house member says it's a bit slow in his room, but the rest of us are happy.
