"Great Fun", I purchased the Singing Coach just after Christmas....decided to give myself a present. I have found it to be very useful in helping me focus on note accuracy as well as timing. I was a little concerned about ordering after reading a few of the reviews with their problems but now I realize they were probably the operators fault,ie: 1)does not always record a line on the graph when you sing.....make sure the earphone/mouthpiece plugs are all the way plugged into the computer,etc. I do agree that a few more pieces of music would have been nice but overall, it has a lot of options to try different things. I would recommend this product to anyone - even those that have sung for years can have fun with it.

"I like it", Some things I'd change about the program. You should have the option to pass up the cartoon character's lesson and go directly to yours. It's only helpful seeing this the first time through. The cartoon banter is way cheesy. The songs provided aren't great, but fine for the lessons. I saw a lot of songs I'd like for the download, but I'm not going past the four free ones. The headset is actually decent.

I found the range determination procedure of great value, as well as the auto adjusting of songs to your range. Bottom line, I am a better singer for having bought this software. I like to do karaoke and I'm better at it in just a short time.

"Nothing else on the market quite like this....", I highly recommend this program. While there are many techniques that must come together to produce quality tone, for a singer to be "on pitch" remains the non-subjective and single most important aspect of singing; this is what Singing Coach helps you target.

For the purpose of correcting pitch problems, Singing Coach is better than a real instructor because it allows you to visually see how close your voice is to the mark. A vocal coach will be using his or her ears to compare you voice to the correct note on a piano, but to have the capability measure your voice unaccompanied by a teacher with a tool like Singing Coach means that you can work on pitch problems a lot more often and for some rather shy students this may be exactly what they need.

On the negative side: the problem comes with a few old standard tunes to sing alone to. My advice is to not waste your time with the songs, why? Because even if you nail them 90-100% you end up with a mono-tone sounding vocal take. In pop, rock and country music (contemporary music in general) vocalist variations in tone character and style techniques don't register well with this software, it will indicate you are of pitch at times or it will score you poorly for not transitioning fast enough. I don't if the original artist were to sing the song into this software that they would get much above an 80% on some of these songs. So skip the songs and instead select "Warm Ups" here you will find the traditional scales used by all vocal instructors. You can easily change the key of a warm up ex cerise so pick a warm like like the "5 up, 5 down" and bring the key down to the lowest note in your range. Sing through it, then raise it up a few keys, keep doing this untill you've reached the highest note in your range. Spend 20-30 minutes a day with this software just doing warm ups in this manner and you will work out any break points you have in your voice and you will greatly improve pitch, probably a lot faster than just singing along to scales without this sort of feedback.

If you seriously want to learn how to sing well, you still need to consult with a vocal coach or at least pick up some other self study material, because this software doesn't get into any detailed techniques for correcting breathing problems and other common vocal problems and than destroy the tone of your voice.

I think for most people the basic feature set found in this version ("basic" version of Singing Coach) will be enough for most people. With the more expensive version you can compose your own songs, but again I don't think the software should be used to train on songs, just scales.

"Anyone can learn to sing.", I had a horrible singing voice, but loved to sing. I sat in the front pew in church so that no one would be in front of me to hear my singing. I was very skeptical when I ordered Singing Coach. After installing the program, I went through all of the lessons several times. I could see my improvement in my scores and hear my improvement in my singing. I discovered that I had been trying to sing in a range much above my natural range. I intend to continue to practice using Singing Coach. I will never have a "professional" singing voice, but at least now I'm not embarrassed to let others hear me sing.

"Excellent Coach with Incredible Results", When I first saw Singing coach making headlines in the local paper I didn't really consider it that much. But after I thought about it for a while and wanted to exceed in my singing capabilities I did in-fact buy it. It wasn't at all confusing to learn and I was glad by the fact I couldn't just go through it all fast and learn nothing. I really had to work at it and learn new things about my voice and how to work it. Now when I sing in front of audiences and such, I practice all the excercises I learned, and I have dramatic and perfect results. I learned how to hold a note and not make it all pitchy but smooth and gentle or hard and rocking. It teaches you all these things and it's a real genuine thing to buy and learn from. It isn't too hard, but isn't too easy. It tells you right where you belong and it teaches you things that can strain your voice or not force it to do enough. Singing coach as taught me so much and as a matter of fact because of it's teachings I've even been offered a demo.
Hopefully June 2007 will serve as a new start in my future singing careers. At least I know I will always have a friend in singing coach. Plus, it's HILLARIOUS to watch the video teachings. (:

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Love it!", This is a really neat software program and its easy to use. I love that I can actually "see" how I am singing right there on the computer screen. It's nice to be able to look at my saved recording and see exactly where I was too high or too low. When I make the changes, my score improves. I think the animation is great (what can I say, it keeps me feeling young and fun). My daughter is using Singing Coach to practice for her school's talent show. We like it a lot.

"Wow This is AWESOME", I really had some reservations when I first saw this. I heard a radio interview for this and thought "Yeah Right" But curiosity got the best of me so I decided I would give it a try. I am SO glad I did. This has everything you need to learn how to sing properly. From the lessons to the song selection, I have not shut up since I got it.

"Great Fun and Helpful Product", I thought this was a really solid piece of software. It taught me alot of things that I needed to know about singing. I am not a professional and could not afford vocal lessons so this really was a HUGE help.

The ability to sing a wide range of songs made it even more useful. Being able to see my pitch helped teach me what types of songs are good for me to sing. From what I have seen so far the music library is growing every week with better and better songs. If they keep adding songs like this there really is no limit what I can do with the software.


"Good for the beginner, but not much more.", This program has quirky characters that teach you the basics of singing, such as breathing, posture and warm ups. Being able to see what pitch you are hitting helps a lot to strengthen the beginning singer.

The reason I gave this only 3 stars, however, is that once you are done with the basics, the only thing that the program can give you is you pitch history while singing one of the songs. While this is a useful information, there isn't a wide enough varity in songs to make using this feature terribly fun and there aren't lessons to encourage you to work through the songs in a specific order.

I was also quite disappointed with their online song library. This version comes with 4 free songs to down load from their song library, and I only found two that I was even willing to sing and have a vague liking for. None of my favorite songs were there. The lists of songs were quite small. They also, beyond the 4 free songs, want to charge what I think is an outragous charge per song.

Get this if you are a rank beginner or need help with your pitch and are happy practicing on public domain folk songs. It's a fine piece of software if that's what you are looking for.

"Great Product", bought this program for my daughter who loves watching American Idol and now all she wants to do is sing. We bought her this as present and it has really helped her improve her singing. She always had a good voice but this really helped tune her skills. If anyone is looking for a way to improve their singing, go buy this program - it is worth the money.
