"DO NOT PURCHASE THIS PRINTER", I purchased this printer from Best Buy under the impression that HP made solid products. The printer looked good and appeared to work well for the first year. Shorthly thereafter, I started to receive an error message indicating that the printer was 'out of paper'although the paper tray was full. I called HP which was a total waste of time since they hung up the phone on me twice. After finally reaching another representative they literally told me that they could not help me and that I should just upgrade and purchase another printer from them. I strongly do not recommend purchasing this printer, it is a total waste of money!!!

"If it ever feeds any paper it prints fairly decently", I have been so frustrated with this printer I've seriously considered smashing it to bits in the alley. It actually prints fairly decent. Photos are not too bad. The color is off on scans. The biggest problem with this printer is that the paper feed simply does not work. It constantly says it is out of paper when it isn't. You have to manually push the paper in to get it to catch in the rollers and then 9 times out 10 it will suddenly feed 5 sheets at once and jam. Printing an envelope is a nightmare experience. I seriously suggest you have your blood pressure meds handy before using this printer. You're going to need a double dose. This would be a good cheap printer if the feed mechanism worked, but as it is, it's a total piece of junk.

"Cheap printer, outrageous ink costs", I happily "upgraded" to this printer when my local office/electronics store took my old printer as a small trade in for this one. What they don't tell you is that you will be buying new ink cartridges about twice as often as what you are used to, as they are about half the size of a normal ink jet cartridge, but you still pay nearly the same amount as you would for the larger ones. So it's bascially [...]: HP gets you to buy their printer as a relative low price because they know you'll spend hundreds of dollars very quickly on the ink. A secondary complaint is that it was terrible at printing onto paper of varying thickness, e.g. glossier photo paper. While HPs may be quality products in some ways, this is one customer who will never buy anything HP again after their used call salesman tactics with this printer.

"just finished breaking mine into a million pieces", this printer is a piece of junk. it came with my laptop purchased back in 2005 but i just used it now. i thought an hp printer would work great but its the complete opposite. the paper feed doesn't work properly. you can have a paper in the feed, as many people mentioned, and you'll get an error message telling you to load paper. ???. and paper jams are constant and occur for no apparent reason. i had to use this printer when they stopped making ink for my 6 year old lexmark and i couldnt find any on the internet either. needless to say after about 3 weeks of using it i smashed this crap printer into pieces. what does this tell you? i used the lexmark for 6 years and there were no problems. i use this for 3 weeks and i break it into a million pieces. i also had a canon s300 before the lexmark that i had passed along to my mother and it STILL works and that printer is ancient! i will never buy another hp printer again in my life. horrible.

"HP PSC 1610 All-In-One", The product works well (like it was designed to). I have not yet had occasion to connect it to my computer however I have been using it as a copier. It produces clear, precise copies. It offers more options than my other all-in-one and is simpler to operate. It was a good buy and I would recomend Tech for less.

"Won't feed paper", After I had this printer for a few months (I use it quite rarely), it stopped feeding paper in from the paper tray. So every time I print, I have to push the sheets of paper in because it can't pull them in on its own. (And even then, it jams about half the time.) But considering how rarely I print, I haven't bothered to get a new printer yet, but I probably will when the (expensive) ink cartridge runs out.

"Absolutely love it!!!", I have owned this printer for about 3 years now and haven't had any problems whatsoever with it. I absolutely love it. It does everything that I want it to do and more! I don't know if the people in the other reviews just got bad printers or I just lucked up and got a good one, but mine is great!!! I will never buy any other brand but HP when looking for a printer.

"Used over one year - good printer", I was looking for a newer all in one printer that included fax and updates. The Amazon reviews of the ones I checked were from 1 to 5 stars. I decided to read the reviews of the printer I have been using over one year just to get a comparison. These reviews are all over the scale also so I decided to add my long term experience.

When I bought the first one, it would not print envelopes so I took it back for another. The second one has worked well with good quality printing, scanning and copying. It has smaller ink cartridges than my older HP so cost per page is higher but it looks like most are going to smaller and smaller cartridges.

I use it for my home office so it gets lots of use. I include photos and graphics on many pages of the limited quantity technical publications that I print. My customers and I have been happy with the output.

"Ready to throw in the trash after 2 yrs old!!!!", I've had broblems with this printer from the start. After having it for less then a year the feeding problems accured. The paper would jam every 5 copies no matter how straight they are in the paper tray. Also, there is no way to stop a cancelled print job the computer just ques it up. Now I'm having problems with printing it prints only when it wants to. It keeps stopping the print jobs. This is the most annoying piece of junk I've ever bought I will never buy another Hewlett Packard printer again!!!!!!!

"Piece of Junk", I purchased my HP 1610 All-In-One back in April of 2006 when I purchased my Sony Vaio PC. I had problems with this printer from the get-go. When printing, it would try to feed 5 pages at once instead of 1. When I called their customer service, you couldn't even understand anyone because of their outsourcing to some foreign country. After an hour, I finally understood that I had to take the back completely off, clean the roller and try to print again. Every time paper got stuck, I'd have to do this. This problem seemed normal to HP and they would not agree to replace the product or correct the problem.

Then, yesterday I was printing and on my LCD screen, came up the error "check color cartridge". I pulled it out, looked at it to see if ink was blocking the connections, but there was nothing. I looked up the troubleshooting on HP's website, and followed the directions on how to clean the cartridge- it still wouldn't work. I then disconnected the printer to let it reset. It would barely come on before the error screen returned. This error rendered the unit completely useless. I called HP's customer service again, and since the printer was just beyond the one year limited warranty, they would not help unless I paid either $35 for someone to reset the printer (which I had already done), and download drivers (which I also did and they didn't work), or purchase a new HP printer. I was not wanting to do either one.

After long contemplation, I decided instead of buying another cartridge and not knowing how long that one would last before the error message would return, I decided to buy a new printer.

I purchased a Canon MP160 all-in-one printer/scanner/copier (with a 3 year warranty!). I will NEVER buy any HP product again due to their poor customer service, poor quality of their products and basically planned obsolescence by the company. This printer is the worst of the worst.
