"I drank the Kool-Aid", I always wondered what the draw to moleskine was all about. Now I know. This thing is simple, elegant, handy, understated. Its a waste to use this as you would a $1.99 note book from Wal-Mart. There is a ton of information out there about using the moleskine in a GTD (Getting Things Done, by David Allen) system. This is an absolute lifesaver.

The notebook I ordered was in perfect condition upon arrival. I couldn't wait for it to get here after I ordered it, but it took me more than a week to start writing in it because I is just such a wonderful book that I couldn't bring myself to "degrade" it. :) Well I did finally.

If you are looking for a simple, elegant, "easy to have at all times" notebook, this is the one for you!

"Nice design. Binding broke with two month's of use", Like so many reviewers, I was extremely happy to find this product. I needed durable notebooks. When I received the Moleskine Small Ruled Notebooks I was very pleased with the design, look, and feel. The paper quality is good. I find it easy to write in.

However, after just three months of use the binding began to break on one notebook. It pulled away from the spine and began to tear. Duct tape has saved it for now, but I am disappointed with the durability.

The notebook lives in my locker at the gym. The notebook it replaced had been living a similar life for about five years with no such problem (it was a log book designed for outdoor scientific observations, but I couldn't find a replacement on-line).

Perhaps I got a lemon, but I do know that the next time I visit a good University book store, I am going to seek out a quality lab notebook.

"Best notebook ever", This notebook is compact, yet it allows you to carry receipts and papers from a days meeting inside and the elastic keeps the additional paper safe from falling out. It's very compact and not overly large for taking to meetings.

"Almost my best friend", Summary of my Moleskine experience:

I carry my Moleskine with me absolutely everywhere, and it's taken some abuse: it's been thrown in my backpack, dropped on the ground, stuck underneath heavy objects, dragged through the forest, tossed around by the wind, kicked across the room by a careless roommate, and endured countless other harsh conditions. It is certainly well-loved, and therefore has its share of battle scars.

But despite its well-worn appearance, it still invited this commentary:

Friend: "Is that a Moleskine?"
Me: "Yes."
Friend: "CLASSY!!"

Buy one. You will never want to put it down. You will find yourself panicking if you think for a moment you've misplaced it. It will become a little paper extension of your mind. Very useful, very functional, and VERY classy.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Not just for poets", Moleskines are useful for everything and are used for just that. Most of the reported uses seem to be more in the artsy nature, like "jotting down dreams," "sketching my cats," or "looking moody in coffeehouses." All of those are legitimate, but my particular use is a bit more left brain. I am a business executive, and I use Moleskines for all my meetings, notes, phone calls, etc. That way, I have all of my projects in my hand, all of the time (yes, my assistant does photocopy this from time to time for back-up). I have found it to be very effective. The little pocket in the back is great for business cards and boarding passes, and the look of the whole thing is sophisticated with just a touch of mystery.
I started out using the graph version, but found that the vertical lines messed up my penmanship - now, I am a standard ruled line guy. Overall, these are durable little books if not abused. I had one that started to come apart after too many spread-eagle photocopyings, and another that loosened up a bit after a fall - but generally, you shouldn't have a problem. Go ahead - join the Moleskine movement.

"A cool notebook to have", This notebook is so cool, I just like carrying it around in case I have something inspiring or important I need to write down. I guess I have a pretty dull life because there is not much written in it yet. Get the book, carry it around, look cool, but go ahead and write in it.

"Nice!", This notebook is very nice. The binding is strong and the elastic holds everything together.

"My writing partner!", This historic notebook is my writing companion! It's both durable and beautifully made. Write on both sides of the paper! No problem not seeing your script. When I first bought it I was afraid to start writing in it, it's so nice. After I got over that I just fell in love with its usefulness. Buy one and see for yourself. Write your stories...record your dreams for posterity!

"Well, it *is* a Moleskine", While I think I've come to prefer the smaller, pocket-sized version of moleskine's ruled notebook, this size can't be beat for longer entries. Its size really is quite nice, and it is very portable, even if the samller is more so. This journal is much, much (much) easier to write in. If you anticipate making longer entries--not brief notes in shorthand--or if you regularly carry a bag of some sort, this is the journal for you, hands down. I tend to use the small journal as an on-the-run brain dump and the larger for long-hand text.
No other journals are as well made. Plus, moleskines age well. They are an indispensable part of life. I have a small one in my pocket, a larger one on my desk, and two empties waiting for their time to come.
