"Great results for low price", I have made cd's from old cassettes and LP's and have had excellent results. The new recordings are better than the originals. The software does a fine job of cleaning up the scratches, clicks, hum, etc. You will need a little better than average computer and computer skills but the finished product is fantastic.

"Works as advertised", I read several reviews before I purchased this product with a common theme being the software being an issue. I had no issues with the software. Maybe they improved it. But it's very easy to use and I'm happy with my purchase.

"False advertising", This product is advertised by Amazon as being for both PC and Mac, and it has a Mac logo on the packaging. However, as the website confirms and as I learned after opening the package (and making it unreturnable), it does not work with a Mac. They have no intention of ever making it work with the Mac.
Don't waste your money, unless you have a PC.

I tried to give it a no-star rating, but it wouldn't accept the review without at least one star. It was easy to use.

"RCX-150-EF is GREAT", Within 20 minutes of receiving my order I was copying a Cassette. It worked so well I spent most of the day copying. It was very easy to use and did the job as it should. I only wish it could copy faster.


"Seriously flawed design makes this product a shaky proposition for many users", This product is sold as an all-in-one, plug-and-play solution for unsophisticated users. The trouble that it doesn't deliver on those terms. It cuts too many corners.

Firstly - there's no built-in RIAA preamp. Most modern stereo gear is not set up to play vinyl and so doesn't include an RIAA preamp with its all-important gain stage and frequency compensation. True, most people with record collections will have an old amp with an RIAA stage built in, but what if they haven't? What if they threw it away when they converted to CDS? Well tough, they're going to have to shell out on some extra kit before they can use this product. Never mind, they'll probably be OK with cassettes. Won't they?

Well, maybe. The other problem with this product is that there is no means of adjusting the analogue input gain. Sure, you can adjust the volume level after the sound has been digitised, but if the output of your cassette deck or your vinyl preamp is too hot the sound will be distorted and there will be absolutely nothing you can do about it. Or if it's too quiet, bringing it up to the right level will bring up the noise as well.

Now, if you've got a sound mixer (as ADS suggest in the docs) you can deal with that. But the target market for this device doesn't have a mixer. They want a guaranteed-to-work plug-and-play solution, and I'm sorry to say this product simply isn't it.

"Mac owners - save your money", I had REALLY wanted this product so that I could just let the computer record the songs and use the software to break the albums into separate tracks. Unfortunately, while the hardware works with iMac, the software doesn't. Since I already use Garage Band and Audacity to record directly from my stereo, this item didn't do anything I couldn't already do. While the product information says that Mac users "can" use this with Garage Band, it doesn't state that Mac users HAVE to use it with Garage Band; it does not clearly state that the software is not Mac compatible.

"ADS INSTANT MUSIC", The ADS Instant Music adapter does provide better recorded sound quality than you get by using the line-in or the microphone port. One major drawback is that it doesn't feed the input through to the PC speakers so the sound can be monitored. The input signal is recognized only by the recording software. This makes it very difficult to determine when to start and stop the recording, unless you have another device to monitor the input.

"LP, Cassette audio converter", I have mixed opinions about this product, evidently I am not smart enough to use it. The Nero program is not very clear. Windows XP did not outright say it recognized the hardware, so I was able to use the audio cords provided and run from the LP,Cassette player to the sound Card and use third party software to accomplish the task.

"Easy to use and Good quality, too", I ordered this device to transfer cassettes to MP3s. It arrived quickly and well packaged. It's very easy to set up and use. No muss, no fuss. Enjoy!

"Versatile and useful device", The RDX-150-EF Instant Music does exactly as promised: transfer your tapes and LPs to MP4 form. Yes, MP4 not MP3. There may be a way to change that, but I haven't found it yet. MP4 is actually meant for video, and makes larger files than you get if you were to rip the same amount of audio off of a CD. Not a lot bigger, but noticeable.
The accompanying Nero software allows you to clean up the track after recording it, by removing the background noise and the rumble found in older tracks.
Very versatile device. It comes with two adapters, allowing it to be plugged into various devices. If your stereo is cheap like mine, you can even just plug into the headphone outlet. Although the device only promises tape and LP recording, it will also record the radio, at least while plugged into the headphone outlet - any audio coming through the headphones can be recorded.
Burning is not required, as long as you designate a folder other than temporary and give each file a name before recording.

Downside: Unlike ripping off of a CD, this records as the tape or LP is playing. So it can take up to 3 hours, depending on how long the track is. But you can consolidate tapes (great for consolidating audio books) and listen while it is recording.
