"BUY! BUY! BUY!"
This CD stayed in my truck's CD player for months before getting tired of it. Enough said.

"Great game - great music"
My son wanted this Cd. I had never sat long enough to listen to the music when he played Halo, so I didn't have a clue what I was buying. He let me listen to some of the tracks once it arrived and I had to "borrow" it from him so I could download the cd onto my pc. Needless to say I bought volume 2 and the original Halo soundtrack cd as well. They may belong to my son, but I love these cds too!

"Hug your pillows girls"
THe only reason I am writing anything about this album is because it contains the Odyssey by Incubus, and its probably some of their best work and will go down as their most unnoticed. While the rest of your nerds are huggin your pillows at night thinking about your video games and the "gnarly instrumentals" on this album you sit there and bash Incubus' work. The first track by them, Follow, is not all that great however it was re-released on an additional cd with their Alive at Red Rocks DVD and it sounds sooooooo much better on that cd (with some real lyrics) But after listening to the Odyssey I was really hoping this to be a new direction for Incubus, a more proggressive/conceptual sound. Whether this is the direction they go on with their new album is yet to be heard. Its a shame that this work will go unnoticed, and the only reason it will be that way because a bunch of losers decide to try and impress people with (what they think) is a sense of music just because its of a classical nature. Yes, the rest of the music on the album is amazing, and I give big ups to its composition, but come on people, show some love to good music when its presented to your faces.

"best video game soundtrack ever."
i understand that many people are a bit angry with breaking benjamin and hoobastank being in here. i'm not particularly happy myself with the last track, but i think contemporary music is appropriate here, albeit lyrics may not be the greatest form of expressing the mysterious feeling behind everything. i think o'donnel and salvatori have what it takes to compose a score of music, but it's not a score, it's a soundtrack. i found that if you don't like them you can just skip them. the second to last track is a great way to end the soundtrack.

"classical music listeners stop complaining"
The worst part of this album was songs with lyrics (breaking benjamin, techno, hoobastank)...i dont understand then why people are upset with the incubus - follow has one word the whole song (two if you count "yeah") and their instrumental songs are brilliant, floyd-esque at times. for those of you reading others criticizing this album, ignore them, ignore the three bad songs on this album, and purchase it and enjoy it.

What our customer's say!

"2nd edition, more goodness", My only real complaint on this disc are the tracks that have mainstream band tie-ins. With exception of track 2 "Blow me Away" I could do without all the other 'non-score' tracks.

Other than that I like the disc and listen to it often. Good stuff!

"Halo in a different light...", I recently bought this CD and listen to it with my Halo obsessed boys. Upon the beginning of each song, I'm given a lesson -from my boys- about where the song is in the video game and what is happening at the time- Master Chief's continuing struggle to save the world. Listening to the songs apart from the video game has given me a whole new listening experience...one that I very much enjoy. I feel the struggle and determination. Wonderful!

"Halo 2 Delivers!", Halo 2 sounds a lot different from the first one, but still keeps some of its signature tunes. The "Halo" song from the first game gets a makeover with rock. Also included are recorded songs from Breaking Benjamin "Blow me Away" which is good but I wish it was the instrumental from the game. Incubus brings all 4 "Movement of the Odyssey" with the best one (in my opinion) being the first one "Follow." Hoobastank's "Connected" was good in the game but it's not my favorite from the album.

Great music overall! "Ghosts Of Reach" begins beautifully and gets into the drums towards the end, "Heretic, Hero" "Flawed Legacy" and "Remembrance" have some of the original sounds from the previous album all which have been remade and they're quite good ("Remembrance" is "The Maw" with more female dominant vocals). "Never Surrender" is your fix of dance, a remix of the Halo them with "never surrender" and Cortana's voice used throughout. There is also the beautiful "Heavy Price Paid" which is used during the game's loading sequence, the battle-ready "Earth City" Flood-ridden-creepy "Ancient Machine" dreamy-like "Orbit of Glass" simply amazing "The Last Spartan" a fix of classical of rock and the most beautiful song "High Charity" is completely atmosphereic. Truly, it sounds like a dream!

Best: Halo, Blow me Away, Ghost of Reach, all 4 Odysseys, Heretic, Hero, The Last Spartan, Heavy Price Paid, Orbit Of Glass, Earth City, High Charity, and Remembrance.

Another Halo soundtrack that doesn't disappoint! If you liked the first one or you enjoy movie/video game soundtracks, get this!

One quick note, not all the music from Halo 2 is on this CD. If you want more of the score or to complete the collection, "Halo 2 Volume 2" has what you're looking for.

The "Mad Mind" has spoken.

"Awesome. Fast", The Cd is Great. It arrived very fast, and faster than I what I expected

"Great Soundtrack!", Playing the game is sweet, but being able to listen to the actual soundtrack is just as awesome. The score is arranged very well and really gets you into the game without playing it. Great CD!

"Amazing", This is probably one of the best music CDs ever released. As soon as you start, you want to lsten until the end. My favorite is the Halo Theme Mjolnir Mix, a brilliant piece of art using only instruments. This soundtrack has gone horribly unnoticed. If you are a techno or Halo fan, you must get this CD.

"A Beautiful CD, even If You're not a Halo Fan.", But How can you NOT be, right? I'll tell you what I felt about each song...

1.Halo Theme Mjolnir Mix-It was great, of course Steve Vai was fabulous. But I felt something was missing. Can't put my finger on it.
2.Blow Me Away-When I first heard it I was like, (groan of dilemna), nah then I rated it 3 stars.
3.Peril-Beautiful, awesome, passionate work by Marty.
4.Ghosts Of Reach-This is an awesome addition to Rememberance.
5.Follow-NO. The part before the singing? Maybe. But the rest-NO.
6.Heretic,Hero-Possibly the best one on there. My fave w/o question. I'm listening to it now.:)
7.Flawed Legacy-Yes, YES, we all remember the sleeping Grunts. I liked this one, especially how it ended.
8.Impend-2ND FAVORITE!! But it kinda sounds like a beat Micheal Jackson rejected.
9.Never Surrender?? Oh, god. Look, I respect Nile Rodgers and Nataraj for what they were trying to do, but it JUST DIDN'T WORK. I doubt you'll hear this blasting in the clubs.
10.Ancient Machine-I thought it was wierd and just too short.
11. 2nd Movement-Long, but it's gotta mean something, right??
12.In Amber Clad-Awesome. Just Sweet.
13.Last Spartan-Hmm, where have I heard this before??...Oh that's right.
14.Orbit of Glass-Not much to say here. Pretty good.
15.3rd Movement-I really liked this one because of the transition to the 4th.
16.HPP-Nice and sad.I really like it.
17.Earth City-Really motivational, nice to work with.
18.HC-My new favorite. This one opens your soul and leaves you wanting more.
19.4th Movement-this one made me cry. That's all I'm gonna say.
20.Rememberance-kinda boring.
21.Connected-whoa, whoa. You're gonna end the album with THIS?!?!? B@$&^*@$T!!

I still think you should pick up this album. Great listen.

"Too many "non-rocking" Halo nerds...", Really, how is it that so many people are giving this CD low reviews because of Breaking Benjamin, and Incubus? Those bands are freakin' amazing! You nerds really need to open yourself up more, in a musical sense.

Personally speaking, since this was a various artists album, I was hoping for more artist music, and not gaming music.

But... 4 Stars overall. Definitely worth the buy!

"To the Unfaithfuls", First off, Marty rocks!! He's my hero. This soundtrack is great for anyone to listen to, even if you're not a huge Halo player. The instrumental music at the beginnings of some the songs are absolutely gorgeous (i.e.-Impend). Also, any Halo 2 player will instantly remember where thy have heard the music in the game.
But really-what's with all these people who are badmouthing the soundtrack because it doesn't have all the music? Maybe if they had half a brain they would realize it's called Halo 2 VOLUME 1 for a reason!!!!! And they could've checked the Bungie website, because one of the first things that Bungie announced at the release of this soundtrack was that there would be another volume of music coming out later. So stop complaining!! Vol. 2 comes out on 4/26/06!!!!

"Great Soundtrack, But With Missing Pieces from the Game", I was kinda mixed on reviewing this product: the music selections are really awesome (both the rock'n'roll and the atmospheric instrumentals), but I felt like that I bought a slightly remixed version of the game soundtrack.

For example, I do remember an Enya's short "Sail Away" musical piece in one of the Halo 2's background music (when playing the game), but this was eliminated in this CD (Not to worry, folks, as it doesn't really affects the whole atmosphere of the game music). In addition, I have to use the fast-forward button in some of its tracks, as this CD had condensed several pieces in one track.

Unlike some of the other reviewers who griped about the lyrics that were included from the rock'n'roll bands, I think that it was a little unfair to judge them--as those bands deserve credit for their contribution.

However, you will be slightly disappointed if you are looking for a direct conversion of the Halo 2's game soundtrack. All in all, I still think that this is an excellent CD.
