"Handy little memory card reader", The MobileMate MS is a great little way of reading memory sticks that doesn't get in the way.

"Flimsy", It does the job but is very flimsy.
The memory stick is inserted sideways and is not locked in place causing it to drop out with ease.
The side slot also creates an awkward shape and at times can not be inserted in tight USB slots.


"do you really need it?", Good SanDisk quality.

I bought it along with a cybershot and a 2GB sandisk MS. My computer has a built in card reader and the cybershot comes with a PC-camera cable so I haven't had to use it although it works. I think I'll sell it or give it to someone else.



"fast shipping", all i can say about this product is that amazon shipped it extremely quickly. unfortunately, i did not get to use mine, since the first day i got it i added it on with my keys. big mistake, the cap was really loose and it soon fell some where and got lost. but that is not amazon's fault, it's just poor design.

"Love the MobileMate; Hate the Packaging", OPEN WITH CARE!

The MobileMate does exactly what I want--it allows me to dispense with the bulky USB/AV cable that came with my Sony DSC-H9 camera and carry something that takes up much less space in my camera bag.

Also, the MobileMate was an easy plug'n'play with the USB 2.0 ports in my laptop, which uses the Vista operating system. This was a very good thing since I inadvertently cut in two the tiny CD that comes concealed in the MobileMate's packaging. Another reviewer compared opening the package with getting into Fort Knox. (Fort Knox was easier.) I thought they were exaggerating until I tried opening the package myself. Also, there is no way to see there is a CD in the package until you've opened it, since there is cardboard both in front and back of the CD.

Five stars for the MobileMate and zero stars for the packaging.

"san disk ms reader", I came in the mail quickly and works great, I think it should come standard with all camera's, but that's me, get one if you don't have one.

"Sandisk MobileMate--a speedy alternative to transferring direct from your camera", I have used the Sandisk MobileMate (MS version) to transfer files from both a 1GB & 2GB Sandisk Extreme III Pro Duo card to my laptop computer.

The MobileMate comes with no software, as none is needed. It works exactly as you would expect. Your computer sees the MobileMate with inserted Memory Stick as a USB flash drive. I have successfully used the MobileMate with both Windows XP Pro SP2 and with openSUSE 10.0 Linux. Just start your file browser (Explorer in Windows, or Konqueror in KDE in Linux, etc.), open the USB drive, then select which files you want to copy to your hard drive and drag-and-drop them where you want them to go.

I get real-world transfer speeds (using the Extreme III cards) of from 10MB to 13MB per second from the MobileMate to my IBM G41 Thinkpad 80GB hard drive (spinning at 5400rpm). That means a completely full 1GB Memory Stick will take less than 2 minutes (actually about 90 to 100 seconds) to copy all of the files to your hard drive.

I give the product 4 stars (instead of 5) because the rubber flap that covers the Memory Stick docking slot does not close completely. Hence, I keep the MobileMate wrapped inside a small plastic bag while in my camera bag. Also, it can be inconvenient for inserting into some USB ports. This is because the MobileMate with MS inserted forms a sort of lopsided T-shape when ready to insert into a USB port (see the pictures I uploaded). However, the MobileMate comes with a short (about 4 inches) female-to-male USB cable so that it can be connected via the cable to USB ports that are located in tight spots.

Inside the package are the MobileMate MS, a split ring, the cap that fits over the USB part of the MobileMate that you can put the split ring on, another cap that allows you to clip the MobileMate to a pocket, and a short female-to-male USB cable for connecting the MobileMate to tightly placed USB ports on your computer. The caps that snap on to the MobileMate (over the USB connector) fit very snugly and are unlikely to come off accidentally.

"Very practical gadget", This is a very practical gadget to own, it makes the transfer of photos to any computer a breeze, you just connect it and it behaves in the same way as a USB memory. The only flaw in this gadget is the rubber cover,it's very loose and doesn't have a snug fit, therefore it's always open allowing dust in, that's the only reason why I gave it 4 stars. The very small size allows you to take the unit anywhere without any problems. The main advantage of this gadget is that you won't ever need the camera and cable to transfer photos to your computer, specially if you own several cameras that use different USB cables.

"Brilliant!", This little doohickey is exactly what I needed to read my memory sticks. Load the software, plug it into the USB port and you're off and running! The MobileMate is SUPER SPEEDY! The files/pictures pop right up with no lag time. And you can read all forms of memory sticks with this one reader.
