"Gets crazy hot!"
So far, works pretty well. The utility that comes with it sometimes acts flaky, and doesn't start or doesn't connect right away.
For this type of solid-state device, it gets incredibly hot! Almost too hot to touch! Given that, probably not going to last long.
The range is ok, nothing special. Of course, the greatest thing about these is the price.

"Recommend you do research for older, low-ram computers"
I rarely do reviews, but considering the difficulties I have had and the headaches that may occur for someone in a similar situation to mine I decided to add my own two cents.

For starters, I'd like to throw out a general complaint to all the main wireless USB network adapters, i.e. Linksys, D-link, Belkin, Trendnet, Netgear, etc. None of them seem willing to specify system requirements other than operating system. For those of us trying to get older systems to work, this is a huge hassle. While some adapters may work for older systems, the version number of those adapters (rather absent in most if not all documentation) might not. So if it says it supports older operating sytems, make sure it supports the amount of ram (if you have low ram).

My problem is that I needed version 2.0 of this adapter, which is shown on the page, yet whenever I ordered I received version 3.1R. My old laptop only has 128 MB of ram and any version higher than 2.0 apparently only supports 256mb RAM or more. Amazon needs to change the picture or be more specific on which version you will receive.

I am sure that Trendnet, or any other mainstream adapter will work for the system that it supports. So, again, this review is more a criticism of how the product is advertised than how it functions.

"A little funky, but well worth the money"
I'm very happy with this purchase. It works like it should and it was one of the cheapest out there. Now let's hope it doesn't die on me within half a year or so....

Pros: Cheap, Good range (through 2 walls), NOT ONCE disconnected in 2 weeks + use, works like a charm

Cons: wide form factor (might prevent you from accessing USB slots next to the one being used), low quality workmanship, status LED too big (possibly leading to extra heat?)

What our customer's say!

"Great Product", I needed wireless for my very old IBM Thinkpad and the PCMCIA slots weren't working. My IBM only has USB 1.1 and this product works with that. I am on dial-up at home so for my downloads I go to the library and this product connects automatically and hasn't dropped the signal yet. I am very pleased and recommend the product whole heartedly. I found the included software a waste and somewhat hinky. I don't use it and uninstalled it. For the price you could do worse.

"Cheap - Quick - Reliable", The TrendNet was recommended by a co-worker, but I was skeptical. However for the price, the TrendNet USB Wireless adapter is great.

My only problem was that the default speed was 54mps. The old PC in which I installed it could not keep up, so I slowed it down to 11mps and things are great.

For the $20.00 I paid, it is the best investment ever.

You can't even buy fast-food for a family of 4 for less than that.

"Small Annoyances", It works very well most of the time, but every now and then it will start to get low signals of 1mb for no reason. I found that if you unplug it and plug it back in it will work fine for another couple days or so.

I would recommend this Wireless card if you can handle those annoyances. Otherwise spend a little more and get a much better product.

"Just plain junk", This thing doesn't even work. If I have my computer right next to the wireless router then it works. Good luck finding drivers for it too.

"Up and running in 10 minutes!", I needed to get a new adapter for my PC after my old one died on me after 2 years. I installed the software and followed the SIMPLE directions and was up and running in 10 minutes!

My signal strength is strong and I'm very satisfied with the product so far. I can't comment on the longevity of the adapter as I just set it up yesterday but based on initial setup and price this little adapter easily gets 5 stars.

Oh, by the way, my wireless router is about 15 feet away through one wall and I run Windows XP if you're curious. This thing cost only $12 after a $10 mail in rebate at the time I purchased it(8/08). Hope this helps!

Read this reviews before You buy...

"Junk", I picked this up because most of the similar options from big-name alternatives had some issue or other. I should've stuck with those issues, because this is junk. I've tried it with several computers and a couple of different driver versions, and every single one has suffered from unreliability and frequent network dropouts despite showing that it was A-OK and despite other computers on the network located right next to it working fine. On a purely aesthetic note it's an ugly design that sticks out in every sense of the phrase however you try to move it. Just avoid it.

"Portable, Durable and Reliable", I have had a really nice experience with this product. I have had a hassle free year with this gadget and in the meantime I have been recommending it to many people. Go for it, its worth the money spent.

"GOOD For the Price", I bought this product to connect an very old PC(default running win 98)now running XP professional in the first floor of my house(concrete house)... and it couldn't connect to the router located in the second floor...this unit range doesn't saw the wireless network.. But I tried to use it with another old PC in my sister room( same floor of the router) and it got 60% of signal but it was slow but connected and was good for page surfing...

"Great product consider the price", The drive so far works great. The signal and the speed of my internet connection are good. I can also attest to the sturdiness of the hardware. I accidentally dropped the laptop on the carpet and the drive is at the back of the computer. The whole drive was bent and the cover came off. I thought for sure I have lost it. But I just bent the drive flat and clip on the cover, plugged it in. There it was, working again. I have only used it for a month, so I cannot testify for the longevity of the drive. But so far so good. Did I mention the price, this is pretty much the cheapest one listed. So, I am very happy with it.

"TRENDnet54Mbps Wireless G USB Adapter", Item works but is much slower than anticipated. I will need to upgrade to a faster adapter.
