Others say...
"Low price great sound" My first pair lasted a few yrs of hard use, so I just orderd 2 pairs. If u hav an MP3 player throw away the ear buds and get these. Good base, good rich sound and loud. Very comfortable I can wear them all day at work, and they stay on my head wen I bend over. If ur on an airplane their more than adequate, sound better than my $50 Aiwa noise canceling headphones.
"Good product." The sound quality is very good. It's very comfortable to wear it.Sometimes when I take it off and leave it around my neck,my hair gets stuck by the folded part, but it depends how long the back of your hair is.It's still a good product.
"Good, Light Weight, Portable and Inexpensive" I was looking for a pair of foldable headphones, which are inexpensive and portable. I researched a bit and finally settled for these headphones. I did read in various reviews that the right side speakers malfunctions after moderate usage and the color becomes brownish etc.
It's been only 20 minutes since I started using these new headphones. I am a big fan of Trance and on iTunes, the bass is awesome. Just as much I like it. Padding is quite comfy. So for so good. I will update my review after a bit of usage. Somebody also bought these for an iPod, I am not sure if 3.5mm stereo plug will fit the iPod.
Also, this is not a military(or military style) headphones which is supposed to withstand extreme conditions. So I would handle these headphones in a delicate way, without putting them through tough conditions. I will be happy if these last a year.
I find the swiveling speakers very comfortable to ears. I have used similar Phillips headphones before and the swiveling is one of the feature, why I bought Phillips again. Also, when we unfold it the hinge on the both sides lock up, so that headphones wouldn't suddenly collapse.
Wires appear to have not-so-durable PVC insulation. However, I am gonna use these for sometime and see how they turn out to be.
So far, happy with their performance.
"And here I thought it was only my particular set" I had my Philips HL150 headphones for something like 1-2 years before something strange started happening. If you read any other review before reading mine, you can probably guess what that "strange thing" is; that's right, the right output of the headphones began to stop working.
Now, I am not the kind of guy who abuses my products. As a matter of fact, I own several products that are over 5+ years old yet still working perfectly. Nonetheless, the right output of the headphones (which I valued greatly due to my intense love for music) began to give out for no reason what so ever.
At first, it was easily fixed by me tapping on the right side a little but recently, even that method stop working. Now, no matter what I do, it will no longer work correctly. Sure, the left output still works but really, listening to only one output is unbearable.
Now I had thought it was only my particular headphones but reading all of these other reviews, I realized that it's a trend with this particular headphones. Kind of sad since I never really figure Philips for creating shoddy products.
Nonetheless, despite the horrible durability, I do personally think the headphone sound quality is very good. Additionally, the volume can go very high. The headphones lack good bass but I had thought the clarity was very good which was why I gave this product 3 stars. It lost 2 stars for bad durability and poor bass.
Overall, one can get something much better than the HL150 nowadays for a mere $10 more. Years ago, I would recommend these because they last long enough for only $10 but now, I highly recommend something else. I suggest that anyone looking for some headphones should try out some Sennheiser headphones (especially Sennheiser HD201 and HD202). For only a little bit more money, you can get something much better.
"these are pieces of crap.." i just bought these in january here it is june and they popped about a month ago. static for bass, i paid [...]at target and i admit that its not a great sum but still there should be a bettr buy than this. i hate the sony brand, but it looks like i'll be buying them again soon. oh yea, the silver and grey is turning like a brownish yellow, wtf??

What our customer's say!
"Decent Sound, Poor Durability", I bought these headphones as a replacement of my iPod earbuds. What attracted me was the cheap price, and once I had opened them, their easy storage; the headphones have three hinges, one at the top and one for each ear, that lets them fold up and thus fit with ease into my trenchcoat pocket.
The sound of these headphones is good for the price. However, a lot of the sound blasts outward and so if the volume is too high, everyone else knows what you are listening to, but in crowded areas it is no concern. Nothing in particular stands out about the sound quality, good or bad; the sound is clear and nothing is over or underemphasized.
However, the headphone design is not particularly durable. I tend to shove my headphones into a pocket while in class so I don't have to worry about them. Since these headphones fold up, one would think this wouldn't be a problem. Instead, the right phone comes loose from the base. Seeing as the phones are screwed in, and the screw comes off WITH the earphone, I honestly have no idea how this happens. My only guess is that the plastic is too flexible/loose and so the screw is able to slip out and no longer secures the headphones in place.
Perhaps this would be fine if it only happened once in a while; however, I regularly have to pull out my mini screwdriver set to delicately screw the headphones back together. No matter how tight I make it, without fail, the right ear eventually comes loose from the base again. As this happens, I can see the wear around the screw hole, and I'm certain the plastic will break altogether eventually.
The sound quality isn't affected, and I can even temporarily shove the headphones back together without breaking the structure and have it stay secure on my head for a time; however, it is an annoyance that makes the storange convenience of the headphones seem pointless. Why store them when they will fall apart?
Hence, while I may recommend the headphones for having decent sound quality for the price, I would not recommend them for their design; it is flimsy and offsets the convenience of being able to store these headphones in tight locations.
Thank you for reading my review, and I hope it was helpful.
"Excellent inexpensive headphones", I've had these headphones for about two years after my utter failure to wear earbuds. I am pretty hard on headphones, wanting to cram them into my bag, so the foldable set is ideal. This Phillips pair has a great sound at a very low price, fits comfortably (even over my glasses), and stands up to abuse in purses, gym bags, etc.
I recently began having the problem mentioned in other reviews, namely the output in one ear is going for no apparently reason. However, considering the price and the fact that I'd have crushed other portable headphones by now, I'm ordering another pair anyway. Hooray Phillips!
"Better than earbuds.", These headphones produce quality stereo sound while being durable and easy to wear. These take the place of those rotten earbuds that refuse to fit my small ears.
"Overall sound good for the price.", For around ten bucks, these headphones sound good, are probably better than the cheap low-quality ear buds that came with your MP3 player or phone, and are a good value. However, if you truly want much 'higher end' sound that will enable you to hear every nuance and detail in your music (with much improved bass), and that will 'knock your socks off', check out slightly more expensive quality models like the 'AKG K26P' or 'AKG K27i' or the 'Sennheiser PX-100' or 'PX-100W' cans (headphones). You won't believe how great music can sound on your portable player spending just 30 to 50 bucks on better 'cans'!
"Phillips HL-150 headsets", These headsets are comfortable and sound good. They appear to be more rugged that the other headsets I've owned, as those have had tiny cables that break very easily. These use heavier cables, I'm very satisfied with them.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"Relatively good headphones", I have owned these headphones for about 1 year and 2 months. The right side started giving out a couple weeks ago, so I bought another pair.
These are nice headphone for the price. The sound quality is good. They are also comfortable on my ears, not too tight with adequate padding.
I like to keep a pair of headphones at work and with these, I don't have to worry about them being stolen. I use a nicer pair of headphones at home, but if you are looking for an inexpensive pair of headphones where you won't care too much if they break, are lost, or stolen, these are the perfect pair.
"Piece of crap", I bought these for my daughter after she received an iPod for Christmas. She liked that they could be folded and put in her purse when not in use. However just a little less then a month after buying them it started to lose sound in the right side. We thought it was just a fluke and returned them to Target on 2/11 and replaced them with the same thing. Well here it is March 2 and it's already done it again. We're taking them back tomorrow and getting something totally different. I would skip these entirely, they're not worth the headache.
"Good sound: bad durability", I'd agree that these have good sound, and an alright price.
But, these headphones just arn't as durable as they say. The wire on my right side is giving out, and so every now and then sound doesn't come from that side if I move the wire slightly. I don't think a connection was made very securely. At the moment sound is even going out.
Don't bother with these. I've had them for less than a year, and their lack of durability makes these headphones worthless. You're better off with those ones headphones they used to hand out in airplanes [the ones with the metal, not plastic plug).
"About time to find these!!!", I bought the HL150 with the HS430, because if I liked one, I could take it back. Let me tell you, the HS430 is going back to Target, pronto.
SOUND QUALITY - Very good. The bass is pretty deep, and the highs are very clear. I can hear stuff that I couldn't hear from the MDR101LP from Sony. Also, these are LOUD!!! These are even louder than the Panasonic Wrap-Its! I'm serious. These are a true buy if you hate the headphones that came with your quiet player.
COMFORTABILITY - Very comfortable. Then yet, I've never seen the overhead style be uncomfortable. Because there the fold up ear-cup style, the are able to exactly match the ear.
PORTABILITY - They don't fold up the bend way. They fold up across, which is a bit awkward, but they do fold up, and they are very portable.
COST - I'd rather pay $9 for these, than pay for the Sony brand. I just like the Philips brand so much better because they're loud, have great sound, and are comfortable.
OVERALL - These are a great deal for people looking for new overhead type headphones. Look no futher, these are a great pick, and can fit into any budget!
