"Best Game of Its Time!", The Kings Quest Series in general is amazing and captivating, but Kings Quest 7 stands out from the rest of the series for many reasons. KQ7 was the first game to change characters from chapter to chapter and has two primary female roles. Along with its amazing soundtrack and the Disney style animations, Kings Quest 7 is the ultimate adventure game, and the best game of its time. Sierra did it again!!

"Review without a title", When this game hit the market ten years ago, I purchased it straight away. I found it rather challenging, at times downright frustrating. As I progressed (and the years did too), the game became easier to play. After a recent dust off, I popped it into my drive and played again. It's still a lot of fun, but I can see where Sierra was showing signs of forgetfulness and rushed production.

The imagery is first rate, rivalling Disney, and the animation as well as can be expected from Sierra. The music is the most majestic and beautiful ever written for the series, though at times it tends to be overpowering the dialogue. The voices are extremely good - a great improvement from the previous games where the timing was off or the voices were bad - but I would have liked to hear them *over* the music, rather than have to compete for their balance. The sound levels, in many places, are WAY off and are the only technical thing I find wrong with this set.

The "smart cursor" was a genuis idea, but it comes too late in the series to be of much more use. On the one hand, it makes some things too easy. On the other, one has to move the mouse all about to find what you need to do next.

A major problem I suffered with the story is its incredible convenience. All of the goings on are just too convenient for such a simple plot. The ending puzzles are rather contrived and consist of something that you probably heard and forgot. (Another puzzle is really bad - they gave a puzzle that only people with ears for music can solve!) The ending is also the weakest, resolved by a deux ex machina that you won't get if you didn't play KQ4. It truly needed more to lead up to that resolution to make it plausible, and even in the fictitious world of Daventry, there is a need to make sense and many of the games in the series (if not all) have logic behind their endings.

KQ7 is a really good game. It's a shame that its successor, Mask of Eternity, strayed from the established traditions, for it made the rest of the series meaningless and effectively ended the series. While the technology is dated by today's standards, it is still a very good game.

"Oh the memories..", This may not be a new jazzy 3D computer game, but I can honestly say it was my favorite computer game ever - the entire King's Quest series is fabulous. It's interesting, challenging adventure puzzles, a great story line, and the animation is very nice even for the time.

"Old but good", I haven't played the series since high school. Loved it then and love it now. What's funny is how the amount of respect number 7 has acquired over the years. As I recall, it opened to abysmal reviews: too easy, too cute, too cheesy. I think all of us miss the classics, the creativity, the mythology that made Sierra and game designers like Roberta Williams top in their time. I wish we could get something new with that same sparkle of imagination.

"excellent!", Wow what a great game! It is a mix in between day of the tentacle and Indiana jones and the fate of atlantis.
