"Great spare mouse, but can't depend on it", It just doesn't work as your one and only mouse.

I've set up two high-end iMacs that came with wireless keyboards and mice, and in both cases I had to scrounge up a wired mouse to complete setup. When it cuts out, there is often no advance warning. It's vexing to re-sync without a working mouse.

Seems many people use it as a "spare" mouse for their Powerbook etc. In that capacity it's an amazing, Apple-quality product. As for shipping it as the only mouse with a high end system -- what were they thinking!?

"pros and cons...as with all things in life", I bought my mac almost 2 years ago and got this mouse seperately as the wired version had too short a cord. I use my mac for about 5-8 hours day and haven't had any issues with battery life in this mouse. I've changed the batteries 3 times in 2 years, so my average battery life has been 8 months.

I don't play games on my mac. I do audio and video editing using Apples Final Cut Studio v5, as well as digital photography editing using Adobe CS2 for Mac, and do my own web designing using Studio 8. So I'm using this one button mouse for everything and find it quite sufficient. I also own the Mighty Mouse, the upgrade version of this mouse. I don't like Mighty Mouse. the scroll wheel is the size of a green pea, and just as unpredictable. The multi-button features contort my wrist in several positions which most people may not have an issue with, but I've got carpal tunnel issues and it hurts!
This mouse is not ergonomically friendly. It also agrivates my carpal tunnel. I have a wrist rest that aliviates a majority of this.

Overall, not a bad mouse. Not the best in the world, but not bad. If you want a mouse for gaming that has multi-buttons, etc there are numerous models out there that manufaturers are making for both mac and pc compatibility and are reasonably priced, unlike the Mighty Mouse which mothballed this version and costs $30 more.

"Outstanding Wireless Mouse With Bluetooth Convenience", One year ago I purchased this mouse for use with my PowerBook G4, and I have to say it's one of the best computer peripherals I've ever owned. For starters, Apple has done an excellent job on the mouse's simple yet elegant design, which complements the look of my PowerBook. The optical eye that detects movement has been very reliable on a number of surfaces. The mouse is a joy to travel with, since a sliding cover on the bottom shuts the mouse off while at the same time protecting the optical eye. A two level tension adjustment system allows you determine how much pressure you actually need to put on the mouse to make it click. This is a great feature that I've only seen about on this type of mouse.

The Bluetooth feature was INCREDIBLY easy to use. All I had to do was turn the mouse on, click it a few times, and within seconds my computer recognized the mouse. In the past I've had a lot more trouble getting USB mice to work with a computer. The Bluetooth connection was always reliable, and I have never had a problem with the connection, even when other Bluetooth devices were near my computer. Other wireless USB mice require you to plug a wireless adapter into a USB port to communicate with the mouse, the Bluetooth system on this Apple mouse means the only thing you need for it to work is the mouse, and you don't need to occupy any extra ports.

Overall I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a simple, high quality mouse, with the extraordinary convenience of wireless Bluetooth.

"Only one button, slow response", I just got one from J&R one week ago and have been trying it since then. I totally agree with those negative comments. The mouse looks great, but that's the only merit worth mentioning. One button, slow response would bother you all the time especially you are a guy just swithed from PC. I returned it to J&R. BTW, J&R refused to refund me with cash but store credit instead and told me this is what their return policy is. Disappointed again! I would say this is a total failure for Apple's mice designing section. So I suggest trying the newly released Apple Mighty Wireless Mouse (released on 7/25/06). It seems this new one has everything you need.

Read this reviews before You buy...

"you may get tired of hearing it...", ... but here it goes again: this is a great mouse only if, for whatever reason, you want a one button mouse.

As for me, I like to use what works best and am in no way a "purist" or a "traditionalist." The one-button mouse has been a hinderance, imho, for a good long time now despite some people's determined ability to keep working with it.

I have a logitech mx1000 on my pc and aside from it's base station/recharger it is a much better piece of hardware than the sleek apple wireless mouse.

My wife loves the way it looks so here it is right next to the apple wireless keyboard. (I actually like the keyboard) The mx1000 is not what I consider a good looking mouse but it looks especially ugly when I put that wired cradle station anywhere near our gorgeous iMac G5.

Battery life has been reasonable but my use doesn't approach anywhere near the 5 hours/day other reviewers have claimed. As far as the wireless performance goes, it's been good but it really doesn't compare to the mx1000. I do notice the start-up delay from time to time when I'm particularly anxious to get going which is something the mx1000 has never done. It has never outright failed me and has behaved as well as I would expect.

Bottom line: good one button mouse but not worth the price. I just checked the box for it when ordering our mac online but had I looked into it further I wouldn't have bought it.

"Freezes often & poor battery performance", Agree with Etta Wildberry & R Bakel - Poor battery performance-replacement every 3 weeks or so - I have started using rechargeables and change the batteries every 2-3 weeks. The wireless mouse freezes often-If you check out the web, this is not a new problem and has been existing for at least a year - Apple has not done anything about it and Apple CSR do not have an answer!(Makes one wonder if some of these glowing reviews are written by Apple employees!)

"Horrible battery life", Got the mouse -- with a beautiful new iMac G5 20'' computer -- in March. The mouse ate through a set of two AA batteries about every two weeks. I got sick of this soon enough and called Apple, where the techs acknowledged it was a problem and tried to find remedies. Nothing they suggested improved things, so I eventually got Apple to swap out the mouse for a new one, on the mutual assumption it was defective. That was a useless move though: the new mouse consumed batteries at precisely the same rate. I called Apple again a few days ago and a customer service rep now told me that the company considers the mouse performance "normal." I asked her if SHE'd considered it normal herself to buy a 60-dollar mouse that takes almost fifty dollars a year -- to run. I asked if competing wireless mice have the same problem, and if she, as a consumer, would consider it acceptable to be stuck with a mouse whose voracious power requirements are unadvertised. She mumbled that she wasn't at liberty to speculate. Beware. This mouse doesn't cost 60 bucks. If you hold onto it for four years before you get a new computer, it will have cost you a total of 250 dollars, or half the purchase price of a Mac mini. Ridiculous but true.

"APPLE MOUSE", An apple a day keeps the doctor away. This comes to reality. Now apple mouse a day keeps the tangled wires away. Excleent product that will be pride to the Apple owners. Somehow Apple always seems to beat the other computer companies.

"Fat Mouse", For those who are used to Apple's wired mouse, be warned that its wireless cousin is a completely different animal. I like that there's no mouse cable to get tangled, but the wireless mouse is a bit overweight. Sure, it looks so sleek and attractive like the regular mouse, but the wireless version has two batteries shoved up its underside which makes it feel H-E-A-V-Y.
