Others say...
"A lot of content, but ultimately clunky" The Dungeons and Dragons features and game engine are impressive and well-done. Unfortunately, the game is noticeably clunky and ultimately could not hold my interest past 2 playing sessions. The gameplay is just too slow.
"Countless hours of fun!" NWN is one of the few RPF that I don't need cheats to win. The gameplay I would say is rather linear. You follow a set path. The only thing that really draws me is the storyline. It's no less fantastic than it is original. The original NWN is great, nice story with a twist although I guessed it beforehand. SOU is a bit boring........and too easy as my character's level was too high. I am currently playing HOU, it is certainly more fun than NWN or SOU and I love the party system here. In NWN or SOU, I prefered to solo as I didn't like to "save" my sidekicks...but in HOU, I am a lvl 20 soceror, lvl 10 palemaster. lvl 10 red dragon disciple. And my sidekick; Deekin is a lvl 20 bard and lvl 20 red dragon disciple. And of course I took sexy Sharwyn, she however along with the other adventurers didn't recgonise the HERO of NWN! A bit stupid on bioware's part, they should let the other adventurers which we know so well from NWN to revel in the glory of HOU's main character!
The new party system didn't require me to save my sidekicks, in fact, I hide behind them and cast spells which was more fun! The storyline is really engaging. The only reason I would continue playing! Many bugs in the game still even in the Platinum edition! Your hero gets stuck in doors, caves....then you have to save and reload! I mean even with constant updates - ver1.65 there were still technical issues especially with chapter 2 of SOU. There was a lag, first timer ever I experienced a lag in an offline game! The online aspects allows one to max out levels and get the best items on training maps and then export your characters locally to your own game which is awesome! I mean you can create a lvl 40 character in chapter 1 to wreak havoc! Sounds stupid but its really fun! Imagine polymorphing into a lumbering red dragon when your opponent is a bandit! There are really many new feats available in HOU which is a plus. I mean after finishing HOU, I foresee myself purchasing the premium modules: Kingmaker which is rpg of the year! Nevewinter is all about the storyline which is engrossingly entertaining, never a dull moment, the game is fast paced and suitable for casual gamers.
I am playing a couple of games now, when I get sick of one, I play another. NWN fits my category. I play it casually and was able to complete SOU in a week. I mean, the Platinum edition is a great buy, worth the money I paid for. Although online game play is ridiculously stupid (I leave it for you to find out). This game is meant for solo play, not group playing. 100+ hours of fun and a really great storyline. You will love it once you start to play it!
"Not a Dungeons and Dragons fan but still pretty fun." I had never played dungeons and dragons before i played this game but was pleasently suprised. The single player mode has interesting story and a lot of interesting features to develop your character. If you are not familiar with D&D there is a high learning curve to understand all the aspects of the game, but that is part of the fun. I feel it is worth the effort. The multiplayer mode is fun and there are servers set up where you can play for free. You can simply fight other characters or there are new stories which you can explore on different servers with other players. My favorite feature is the pick pocket although I am rarely successful. Overall a really fun game that most people should enjoy.
"THe best rpg i have ever played" wow...this is definetly the *see title*. not only does it have some kick-butt graphics and single player modes, it has one of the best multiplayer set up as well. if you're looking for a MMORPG without the monthly, this is definetly one of the best games out there. also, you get the incredible Aurora Toolset, which lets you build your own modules and playthem online or by yourself.
"Best RPG ever" Now I am 15 years old live in canada Ontario. I m not a HUGE dungeon and dragon guy Im not a nerd :P . My marks are good in school. When I got this game I not only loved it I was astonished on how well this game is! I would play it over and over again! I dont know if thats good but. I still enjoyed the game and still was able to go outside and do other things. But when it was raining or really cold i would sit and play this. My mom at first didnt want me getting it becuase oh well its dungeons and dragons magic and witchcraft. Alot of people say that. What about Lord of the rings. This game gets as bad as that thats all. Theres no witch craft. It all depends on how you play it. Take it seriously or not. I personally dont take it seriously, thats why I was able to get it. Thanks you for reading :)

What our customer's say!
"A Soldiers Tale....", Solid product. Have wasted many a deployed hour leveling up my characters. Not to sure about the multiplayer aspect due to inability to play over the internet but it sounds solid. Love the ability to create your own modulars. The interface is extreamly easy to learn and still provide a complex system. The chat scripts are a little tricky but its worth it in the end to learn...
"A Bit Buggy", Should the game be minimized for any reason (my anti-virus running an automatic check, for instance), the original NWN freezes, but the expansions don't. Tends to run slow in a few of the largest areas, since it was on a laptop, I'll admit my system may have been at least partially to blame.
XP1 had a few points, especially in the interlude, where puzzels lacked explaination and solving them proved very difficult, but they were always very inconsequential sidequests.
I did notice in the last chapter of XP2, the game froze five or six times, especially in the deepest wastes portion. All other problem I had involved my own lack of sitting down and thinking a riddle or puzzel through, so I have no other complaints. The story telling's great, the game's top notch, and I realyl love to play it again adn again and again.
"Better then NWN2 and any other RPG", Best role-playing game out there! The adventures out-of-the-box are ok. What makes the game have unending replay value are all of the free, user-created, multi-player modules that the game can run. Since these modules are user created, they are very varied: some are hack-and-slash, some encourage role-playing, and others require role-playing. Some have quick leveling, high magic and massive gold, while in others it is hard to find gold for a meal and a +2 sword is coveted by players with 100s of hours in the module. Some modules are easy; others require careful strategy to survive. Some are strongly player verses player; others have no player verses player and everything in-between. Many modules are set in Forgotten Realms, some are set in J.R.R. Tolkien's Middle Earth, some in J.K. Rowling Harry Potter, at least one in Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time, and many in totally user-invented worlds. Most worlds use English as the primary language, but there are a good number of French modules, and I bet other languages are represented.
Overall, a great game.
"Get the Diamond Edition instead", NWN is still a great game, thanks to the huge number of high-quality modules available for free on the Internet. I have never seen a computer RPG with as much replay value. Even the impending release of its sequel doesn't detract from it much. After all, it will take quite a while before NWN2 has anything close to the amount of free content available as NWN does.
But why would anybody choose at this point to purchase the Platinum DVD Edition? The Diamond Edition includes all the same content, plus a few extra "Premium" modules. And its "new" pricing on Amazon is actually lower than the less complete Platinum Edition.
If your computer has no DVD drive, then you might choose to buy the Platinum CD Edition, since the Diamond Edition is only on DVD. Also, if you are buying used, there is a slight price advantage to going with Platinum.
"RPG with a good storyline, good gameplay, and good replay value", NWN is probably the best RPG I have ever played, overall (with Planescape: Torment running second). It combines good gameplay with a great story and excellent replay value. It is a game where changing your class or alignment can affect the game, so you might actually want to play again. In addition, there are so many free expansion modules available online, that you can play dozens of other compelling stories.
This is a game that is a few years old. You can now pick it and all the expansions up for a pretty low price. The rules are somewhat daunting, but you don't need to know them all to play. I found that I could play without even looking at the books supplied, but then I would often go back and look at the book to help me decide what to equip, what spells to choose, et cetera. In that way, it is easy to learn as you go along.
The toolset is amazing, too. It is fairly easy to use in a rudimentary fashion, but you would need a little more skill to come up with a polished game. The number of people who do so is impressive, though, as there are so many fan-written modules available.
Overall, this is just a solid value in terms of gameplay and enjoyment, especially since the price is now so low. It's easy to spend 100+ hours on this game, its expansions, and free modules.

Read this reviews before You buy...
"For Fallout Fans", THIS IS FOR FALLOUT FANS ONLY! if you are a fallout fan, and looking for games like fallout. this is Not a similar game too fallout. so beware befor buying. i have this game and i am not satisfied with it.
"Good stuff.", Excellent implementation of mature ruleset within a decent, and improving, engine. Bioware has alot of experience with RPGs, and it shows. The offline modules are fun, but the game really shines when played online, despite some questionable (admittedly improving networking code). The emergent loosely knit, dynamic community surrounding the game is more than just the mirror of (excellent) community based design descisions. The fanbase is immense with lots of innovation and good hearted collaboration. As a programmer, there are some design descisions I would have made differently, but there are workarounds for most issues. The comradery on good servers is downright humbling, even if a bit juvenile. The interface is good... perhaps a bit simple for seasoned players. Definately an excellent springboard, and worth a look.
