What our customer's say!
"Worst software of any type that I've ever used.", I am a past Premier Elements user (with Previous Versions). I got Prem Elem V.4 because it would allow me to process & edit Hi Def Video and even burn it to a Blu-ray disk... At least that's what the sales literature says. The reality is: I and other users of Premier Elements, version 4 have been plagued with problems such as unexplainable CRASHES and many other problems. Transitions between video and still clips intermittantly come out jerky, and sometimes as if there is no transition at all. If any 'effects' are added to video clips, the playback of the clip is jittery and unwatchable. These problems are especially apparent when processing HD video. I have been on Adobe's User Forums only to learn that I am not the only one in this boat. Many others' are experiencing the same problems; especially system crashes - without giving you any error message, or any indication as to why the program crashed. I've had many conversations with Adobe's Technical personnel (who are very nice and willing to help). Unfortunately, they have been unable to help me and others because the software we have is simply defective, poorly engineered, poorly tested, etc. There are a number of other good video editing software out there that have been better tested and that actually work. Or, you can buy Adobe Premier CS3 for $700! I'm not a mean person. Rather, I have tried, and tried, and tried to get this software running well on my very capable and up-to-date computer for more than 2 months now. I have spent endless hours on the Adobe User Forums, and have made many calls to Adobe. The bottom line: No one can help me or any of the other Premier Elements 4 Users who have experienced problems with this software. It is my personal warning (as well as from other Elements users on the Adobe forums) that you think twice about investing in this software. Even if it was only $5, if it crashes and does goofy stuff, it's not worth the aggrevation.
"Can not burn a DVD", The program to make and edit vidios is really pretty good. The problem I have encounterd like many others is that the DVD burner is full of bugs in this version. I had to pay $75 for software to burn the DVD after I had spend countless hours making my video. I Suggest you look for a later version.
"This product STINKS! tech support is BOGUS!", I got the Premiere Elements 1.0 in a bundle with Photoshop Elements 3.0
While Photoshop is fantastic, I cannot say the same for Premiere Elements. I have had only marginal success creating some projects, but I have had far more problems with this system than success. I have it installed on two computers, a Compaq desktop computer, and my new laptop, a Dell Inspiron 1501. Right now, neither computer will burn .mpeg files using Premiere, and neither computer will burn my .avi project (which happens to be an extremely important audition video for a job application!). Every time I try to burn a disk on the desktop, the project will get nearly through burning, then have an "error" and waste a whole DVD! At least the installation on the laptop is not wasting any disks, but every time I try to burn I get a message saying "Encoding-Transcoding Error", and the burning process ceases.
Tech support is a joke. Their websites, tutorials, readme files are all filled with basic info about how to add effects, run basic commands, etc. None of them offer any solutions for my problem. I have submitted a webcase a week ago, but have yet to receive any reply to my query. I called Tech Support the other day, and after waiting on hold for half an hour, was coldly told that BECAUSE I DON'T HAVE THE LATEST VERSION, I CANNOT RECEIVE TECH SUPPORT OVER THE PHONE, ONLY OVER THE WEB!!!!! The man wouldn't even answer one simple question of "what does it mean when it says 'transcoding error'!"
Yah, tech support for this version is completely BOGUS! And I'm certainly not encouraged to purchase the latest version if this one is so crummy and I can't even get help fixing it when it crashes!
Needless to say, I am thoroughly MAD at the Adobe company right now, and I could not recommend purchasing ANY of their products.
No matter how "cool" anybody tells you Premiere Elements 1.0 is, and how many "great things" it can do, DON'T LISTEN TO THEM. It doesn't matter if this program can make your video look like a blockbuster movie if it continually crashes and cannot successfully burn your project onto a DVD!
"Garbage! Junk! Buyer Beware", I am going to boycott all Adobe products from now on.
As of Monday (9/25/06), Adobe no longer supports v 1.0 of this product. As other reviewers have pointed out, this version is buggy, full of problems, and crashes frequently. As a software developer, I understand that all software has minor glitches, especially when first released. As a consumer, however, I get frosted when the manufacturer does NOTHING to keep my business. Expect a long wait when calling in for technical support, and expect nothing but rejection if you are unfortunate enough to get through. Bottom line: I was told to purchase the latest version and, by the way, I called in "after hours" and I should pay $79.95 for the technical support.
Seeya!!!
"Buyer/User Beware", Last June I bought a bundle package of Photoshop Elements 3.0 and Premier Elements 1.0 at Fry;s Electronics after reading a very good review from PC Magazine. I installed Photshop right away and have not encountered any problem. However, when I tried to install Premier Elements 1.0 yesterday I kept getting the massage " User name or serial number are not recognized ...." I called Adobe today and was told that since Adobe has just released Premier Elements 2.0 I will no longer have Adobe's complementary support, and the agent asked me to either buy the new version or pay $39.95 for tech support. This is not right. I cannot even installed my 10 months old Premier Elements 1.0 for the first time and Adobe has a nerve to ask me to buy a new upgrade version or pay for support. So this is my last Adobe software. And also there is a warning to all people that don't buy old Adobe software because if you need support you will be out of luck. Furthermore, if you buy a current version software you must install in your computer right away and try it out as much as you could. Adobe's complementary support will be expired as soon as Adobe releases a new version.

"Stay away...It's junk", I've had this software about five weeks and have had nothing but problems. My machine far exceeds the recommended hardware requirements and I'm an IT professional so I have my fair share of PC experience. The only thing I've been able get to burn is a 30 second sample project included with the software. Every time I try to burn my 1hr project I created with the software it just hangs, no errors or warnings, it just stops in the middle of the burn/encoding process. If you like spending hours upon hours troubleshoot buggy piece of junk software then this is the software for you.
"Dishonest, Disappointed", Betcha those who praise Adobe Premiere Elements are running high-powered graphics and/or gaming systems. My computer isn't exactly a wimp: Dell Dimension 8300 P4 2.80GHz, 512 MB RAM, 80+ gig hard drive, nVidia GeForce FX 5200. Nonetheless, Premiere nearly killed it. After taking a couple of minutes to load, the software locked up during the capture process, succeeding in grabbing only a few random frames from nearly 15 minutes of video. As the computer was rendered inoperable, there was no way to try out other features. I had to reboot my system. Even editing a small AVI file already on disk proved too much for Premiere and it quickly froze solid. Mousy MS Movie Maker roars, by comparison, so there is nothing wrong with my hardware. Over 30 minutes with Adobe tech support yielded a couple of changed preferences and a suggestion to install the latest DirectX. The improvement was minimal. Oh ... and before I forget ... Premiere caused my entire system to move like glue, until I uninstalled it. The box boasts some pretty minimal system requirements. This is wholly dishonest. Adobe should come right out and admit Premiere is written for big-mother gaming powerhouses. Unless you've got the right stuff, be afraid, be very afraid.
"Video Editing At It's Best", I don't know why there are so many complaints about this software. After trying at least 6 other applications this has been a dream come true. For all of you that have found problems, check out the Adobe Premiere Elements Forum, you can get help there and be editing your video and burning DVDs like the Pros.
"Stay away from this piece of crap", I read other reviews and decided to buy this as part of the Premier Elements + PhotoShop ELements bundle. It took almost 20 min to install this on a machine with 1g ram,Pentium 1.8ghz box! Its really heavy weight for what it provides. It cant even burn a VCD. So much for creating mpegs!! I cant even figure out how to create a compressed version of video directly from my camera. I always end up with a 20gb fileset. Editing is a pain too! This software must be developed by a team who have no idea of how to write a usable software . Surely this software is on the other end of spectrum compared to PhotoShop Elements. Shame on you Adobe for tricking cusotmers to buy this along with Photoshop Elements when you should be giving this for free! I should have tried the demo before I had bought this :(.
"Extremely userfriendly", I have no experience of video editing before purchasing this program, and I must say that this program is very easy to use.
I have a laptop with a Centrino P1500-M with 512 MB RAM and 60GB harddisk, and this is very sufficient. The program functions very well and smoothly.
It was very easy to capture video from my Canon Elura 85, and the setup in the program itself makes everything very easy to work with. I've made 4 DVDs in a couple of days, with transitions, menus, added music, end credits, and such.
I highly recommend this program to anybody who is interested in using a home version of video editing.
