"Adobe Review"
Anyone having used the prior version of Elements 2 will enjoy the new areas and updates to the basics found in version 3. I have not yet used the video software. The books for 2 had more picture presentations.

"Not Advanced Enough for Camcorders Out There"
The program is not set up to work with your newer camcorders, especially those camcorders with DVD capibilities.

"NO editing software is easy; this is the best though"
I have used this software for several months now (am intermediate/adv. user) and have also recommended it to several novice friends. After surveying the novices, I can say we would wholeheartedly recommend it on the proviso you commit to taking the time to learning how to use it.

I've worked with a number of graphics packages, ALL have a learning curve to them. None can read your mind. It's the nature of the beast. Graphics editing is complex and resource hungry, though most contemporary PC's can handle it.

One nice utility is the periodic prompt to backup. As a network admin, I can tell you no one seems to backup. I love it, because even though it can take overnight for the 2000+ image backup, it's nice to know they are backed up to one DVD-R. Also available if you have the DVD burner is the ability to go from DV camcorder to editing to DVD movie, without any additonal software beyond this.

You will also have to commit to doing things "their way" to get the best utilization. (esp file management.) Some of this may be contrary to the way you've done it in the past, but it is best to just "let go" and adopt their methods. It will pay off in the long run.

This software is a bargain, even if you add the cost for one of the many books to the equation. (Adobe's website is also very useful.) It gives you decent photo organization and video editing capabilities at a fraction of the cost. Adobe's $600+ Photoshop photo editing software is probably the best out there, and some of that experience has trickled down into this package too. So for price performance, this is it. But if you are not committed to getting past the learning curve for this software, keep your credit card in your purse.

"A Great Way to Start on Multimedia Presentations"
I bought this combo pack before going on a trip to Mexico. I wanted a way to combine both my pictures and video into a professional-looking DVD. After some searching on the internet, I found that Adobe seemed to have the perfect answer with this combination pack.

I edited my pictures with Photoshop Elements. It was extremely easy to make simple corrections and to crop the photos I took. I captured the video using Premeire Elements and quickly cut out the boring parts. After that was done, I imported the photos from Photoshop and added them into the video. I could do pans and zooms and integrate them into the video portions very easily.

When I was finished, I added some titles and some quotes from the trip. I put in chapter markers for the DVD and it let me test it out to see if everything worked. After everything looked good, I burned it to DVD and made copies for my family.

This is not a professional level program, but it has the best features of Adobe's professional series. I also think its easier to use and I like the way the two programs complement each other. It seems that whenever you take video, somebody else is taking photos. Now, with this program, you can put them together on a DVD very simply in a professional looking manner.

I gave it 4 stars because if you want more advanced features like music creation or more advanced special effects, you would have to get the professional versions. However, as it is Adobe Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements has a lot of features and serves their purpose well and is easy to use.

"Adobe Premier Elements"
A very fine product, but extremely hard to learn to use. Nothing is untuitive. Very user unfriendly. Software is predominately for video editing and production, and I only use it for producing slideshows from digital stills. Tutorials and "Help" contain very limited assistance for creating still digital DVDs. Highly recommend buying Adobe Classroom in a Book for Premier Elements at the same time software is ordered.
Although creating my first DVD slide show was like "the cat eating the grindstone", the final results were worth the trouble. I would buy the software again.

What our customer's say!

"Less confusing", This product is a little less confusing than Adobe photo shop suite. You will need to for any real photo editing.

"AWFUL", this is the worst thing i've ever used! It's incredibly blurry, and it constantly freezes. I tried to use it for about a month, and i've got nothing. iMovie is 10 times better, any lucky guy that's got a Mac. SAVE YOUR MONEY$$$$$$$$$!!!!!!!!!!!!!

"A great video editing product with a great photo product", I am thoroughly satisfied with Premiere elements and the photoshop elements bundle.

My primary purpose was to capture video. I had software that came with my camera and my computer that were video packages but nothing was easy or very functional.

I have been able to capture digital video on DV tape from a CANON digital camcorder and transfer it via IEEE 1394 firewire cable (purchased separately) to my computer.

What you will like about this software:

1. Transferring video is easy - plug it in and let it start recording. Make sure you have enough free Hard Drive space available. Video takes gig's to record.

2. The video will be automatically subdivided into separate clips based on the breaks on your film. This makes it easy to add transitions and edit.

3. Adding effects and transitions is easy - just drag the one you want to the breakpoint on the clip. There are a good selection of fades and transitions which look professional.

4. You can add titles and captions with ease. Just create the caption and drag onto to the second video track in the segment you want to contain the caption.

5. It comes with a 20 minute training video that covers photoshop and premiere elements. In 20 minutes I could do everything I needed... and then some.

6. Burning to a dvd - I created one dvd on my first try with no glitches. It was a 20 minute video.

7. You can create DVD slideshows of picture galleries. Grab your photos and drop them on a video timeline and you're basically done. You can also add transitions and title pages and effects to these items as well.

8. Add music to your video sequences. Using digitally recorded music or any audio clip you can drop the audio track next to the video tracks to create background music.

A buddy used a competitor's product two years back and it was painful and time consuming to create a dvd.

Adobe has provided a great, feature rich product that when bundled with Photoshop makes a great buy.

You won't regret buying this product.

"Adobe does it again", It keeps getting better... Elements 3 is a wonderful tool for the amateur to the advance photographer/digital-imaging enthusiast. If you are looking for digital imaging software, you cannot go wrong with Elements 3. Its very easy to use (easier than Photoshop CS2) and I bet many of you weren't aware that Elements 3 does about 90% of what Photoshop CS2 at a HUGE fraction of the cost.... and as for the other 10% - the good news is there are plenty of tips and tricks to achieve it - and more good news; Elements 4 was just released - like I said it keeps getting better. A great place for tips, tricks and tutorials, of course need to subscribe to the magazine, but trust me its worth every penny - just like the software!

"Great Package!!!", This software package does more than I ever imagined. Both programs must be the "Best of Class". It does take a while to load, but it's worth the wait.

"Excellent, Stable Product", Compared to other windows-based video editing products, premier is very stable and fairly easy to use.

Packaged with Photoshop, it's a great deal.

"Adobe Photoshop Elements", Excellent program, and contains many of the more useful parts of the much more expensive Photoshop. Delighted with it!

"It's Not Easy or Intuitive, but Still Good for Advanced Users", I had the first Photoshop, and I have Elements 3. This is my fifth such program (don't get Microsoft) if you include Thumbs Plus, and it is both one of the best and one of the more difficult. You won't be able to use it right out of the box and, typical of this type of program, you might end up using 20% of the program. I'm really waiting for the $650 version comes down to $50.

Anyway, I just got back from Best Buy and Elements 3.0 was $99. Sorry, Amazon.

"Don's waste your money", I bought this and tried to use it for about a month. It is not intutitive, is difficult to use, has no useful printed instructions...in short it is a piece of junk. I wasted my money

"Best Consumer-Level Product for Digital Photographers", OK, it isn't PERFECT - but darn close. Yes it has a learning curve - so does anything else in life truly worth doing. Having 12+ years of digital image background, having taught numerous people about digital photography and image manipulation, using Photoshop 6, 7, CS, etc., I find this program to be excellent. I love the integration with video editing, and the product definitely exceeds expectations from a user standpoint. I tried other products from Jasc and others, they don't hold a candle to Adobe. There's a reason why Adobe is THE choice of Print and Photography Professionals around the world.

A few comments. First, the backup utility will not burn on my 16X DVD burner at the rated speed. Second, If you are going to buy this program and use it regularly, definitely max out the RAM on your system - 1GB minimum. If you are using anything less than P4 2.8Ghz, get a new machine. Third, take the time to go through the tutorials and learn the interface - it is very little short-term inconvenience in exchange for the results you will get by doing so. Also, try the Kelby books to learn more, they are very straightforward about doing particular tasks. A great way to learn PSE3....
