"The best of all MultiTool"
Recently i bougth the Spirit Multitool and i think y the best of all. The quality of the metal is greater than other ones (Gerber, Letherman, etc.) and the finished take this one level up. I'm an Electrical Engineer and i work 50/50 office and field, and this tool make the work excelent.

I also think that the desing is very ergonomic, so is really easy to handle and use.

Victorinox made high quality products at reasonable price, i recommended 100%.

"Smart tool"
Not too big, and not too small. Works very well and comes in handy. I would recommend to others to use. Do miss the regular knife blade.

"Best of the Swisstools"
This is my favorite Swisstool. There are two common criticisms of the Swisstool Spirit compared to the other Swisstools: the lack of a ruler and that the blade is a straight-razor-shaped serrated blade instead of the normal swiss-army blade shape.

I actually prefer the serrated blade because its shape makes it easier to cut by pulling toward you, kind of like a box cutter. If you need to stab something you can use the awl.

The lack of a ruler on the handle is regrettable, but the curve in the handle makes using the pliers much more comfortable.

The scissors on the Spirit are *much* nicer than the scissors on the Swisstool X and the various swiss-army knives. They have a steel lever instead of a chinsy spring.

The Spirit is smaller, lighter, and easier to handle than the other Swisstools.

For me, the lack of a ruler is more than compensated for by a better blade shape, a better pair of scissors, and better overall ergonomics.

That said, all the Swisstools are wonderful. I prefer them to Leathermans (?).

"Best multi-tool I've found"
I just finished ordering my second Spirit tool -- the one I've been using for the past couple years was confiscated by TSA when I accidently left it in my carry-on bag a few weeks ago. I've owned Gerber and Leatherman brand tools before, and the Victorinox is definitely a cut above in terms of make, finish, tool variety and accessibility.

I really like how I can access all of the tools I use most often (scissors, screwdrivers, knife) without having first unfold the tool into the plier configuration. Most other brands aren't set up this way. Having scissors is another very important feature to me, and these work very well, as does the "sheep's foot" style serrated blade. The blunt tip of the blade makes opening packages and cutting delicate things safer, and after well over a year of daily use the blade on my old tool was still razor sharp and ready to cut through anything. The pliers and wire cutters work well, but are on the small side, and if I found myself using the wire cutters all the time I'd probably wish for more cutting area. I think the bigger SwissTool, along with SOG mutli-tools, are probably better in the plier/cutter department, although SOG is far more expensive, and in my opinion less comfortable to use and carry.

The mirrored finish on the Spirit tool really holds up well, and everything functions precisely: the tools can be easily pulled out one at a time, and they all lock and unlock positively and intuitively. Its also a great size, smaller than most other multi tools but with great functionality, and the curved handles make it easy on the hands in high-torque applications. It looks and feels very well made, and after handling several different makes of multi-tool I still think Victorinox is by the far the best made tool out there. I went for the "Spirit Plus" this time, which is the same Spirit tool but with a ratchet and bit set. It hasn't arrived yet but I have high hopes. . .

"Amazing!!!!!!!!"
I am very pleased with this. I have had this for over a year and it is just as good as it was when I got it. This is what I think of it:

1. Excellent quality, just as all the other tools they make. No lose
parts, no warps, and no defects.

2. Great duribillity. I have used it constanly and it is good as
new.
I even took this up with me when I went to Canada when I went
fishing with my Grandpa and his friends. I was concern about it
going over board so I tied a thin rope to it and the other end to
my swiss pocket knife, ( Yeah I am a swiss junky) I then looped
the middle of it slipped it over my belt. The total length of the
rope was about the length of my wingspan (probably a bit longer)
so it was long enough so that it wasn't so short but short enough
so that I didn't have worry about tripping.
And I did have to cut a anchor rope while it was over water so
there was a chance that it sink like a rock. Plus my hands were
freezing!
And absolutely no rust or scratches!!!

3. It has all the tools you need to survive!!! It really does, the
only thing that you could woory about is not having a normal blade
for wood working, but the serrations do not interfer with
widiling and you have the bit of a strait edge at the bottom
(where it won't get dull) for finishing tips on spears. Plus who
needs a pointed tip on there knife anyway???
Also about all funny extra tools on tools that don't make sins?
In my opinion they do that because it dose not drive up production
cost and in cuts down on wait removing excess weight where it
would been useful.

All in all I think this thing is perfect. Plus it has a great looking pouch. Long with a good looking tool!!!

If you like going hiking or anything outdoors. Get it!!!

What our customer's say!

"Great and very useful", Comes in very handy, nice carrying pouch and is high quality. I would spend the extra money for the RS that has more tools if you plan on using this a lot.

"Perfect for everyone!", Being a carpenter, a tech for my school's theater, a cyclist, and a paintballer this multi-tool is used ALOT. It is by far my most used tool, and I have a full work shop.

Pros:
1. I have been using it for 2 years now and never once had a problem with any of the tools.
2. The pliers are very strong and easy to grip while being used as pliers.
3. The scissors, my most used tool, are still very sharp after years of use. I have used them for cutting gels (for stage lights), paper, tons of plastic bags, finger nails, and MANY more things yet they are still very sharp. Just the other day I very stupidly, while cutting a plastic bag full of screws, ran the scissors into my figure and got a small, but deep cut in my middle finger.
4.The wood saw almost never comes in handy while building (I prefer my larger saws), but still comes in handy. My favorite use was once while paintballing my pants got tangled on a torn bush and I couldn't pull myself free so I used the saw to cut though the bush and free myself without getting shot in the proses.
5.I really like the locking mechanism for the tools, holds strong and easy to release.

Cons:
1.The only straight edged blade is about an inch long, not very useful.
2.Sometimes can feel large on my belt while biking, but the reassurance of having it is great.
3.The file like to get a layer of dirt between the teath, but still works perfectly, just looks dirtiy.

"EN APUROS, AQUI LA TIENE", ES UNA HERRAMIENTA QUE LO SACA DE APUROS, CON MUY BUENOS SERVICIOS LA RECOMEINDO PARA USO DIARIO

"Great tool even better value", Very Important update. I was using the phillips screw driver today and cut myself pretty badly on the file while it was closed. The file has a sharp edge that your thumb can slide over when pushing on the screwdriver. I fixed this by filing down the file. Still love it.

I, like most of the reviewers, own a lot of multi tools. I've been a leatherman fan and still am but this Spirit tool is making me think I need to change that. It feels a little more well built than a leatherman. I know that's not very specific but it just does. I also am surprised by the size. It is clearly longer than a wave or charge but it is slimmer in every other way. I also think the smooth sides is an advantage in your pocket. I don't find it convenient to wear a knife and this one seems to come out of my pocket better. As for the tools. They seem more refined than a leatherman. The edges that should be sharp are really sharp and the ones that should be smooth are. The tools also seem to be made of better steal. The lack of a bit changer as on the wave is a plus and minus. I think it gives the leatherman a little more flexibility but I don't know how many times I couldn't fit the Phillips head on the leatherman into the place were the screw is and had to go get a screwdriver. That will not be as big a problem here. The Phillips is long thin and sturdy. The hacksaw is much better and the files seem sharper, but the diamond file on a leatherman is a good tool I will miss. The scissors are much sturdier and longer and again feel like better steel was used. The lock release is really smooth and you can easily do this one handed. You can't however open the knife without using two hands. This isn't a killer but would have been nice. The blade itself is strange but incredibly sharp and actually great for a lot of things like lunch time activities apple or bread cutting or spreading mayo. I don't find myself stabbing stuff very often so the lack of a point is more odd than missed. The blades design seems very strong and while not made of 134A or some other exotic steel is really great at actually cutting. The pliers are really great. They don't meet until the tip so you can really pinch something that the end something the leatherman is not good at. The other really big plus is the wire cutter is just a little bigger than a wave's and will cut all the way through a wire tie. The leatherman leaves a little nub that I have to cut again. The bottle/can opener is much better. I don't open a lot of cans with my knife but I do find the tool useful for a lot of other things. This one is much stronger and would actually open a can much faster and easier. I broke my leathermans not opening a can but something it should have handled. All and all a great knife and with more tools than a leatherman a better quality feel. Leatherman seems to focus on the steel of the blade and not the tools. I would highly recommend this tool and think its probably the best value. Though I got it on sale for about $50.

"Best of two worlds.", Over the last 50 years I have tried every multi-tool that hit the market. Most of the good ones were at least in the $50.00 to $175.00 range. The Leatherman Crunch is a must but I had to carry a Vitorinox Champ the get the other needed tools. This Vitorinox multi-tool has put it all together.
Of course, I carry it along with my Crunch. Ever try to tighten a nut and bolt when you can only secure one side? With these two on my belt I can repair 90% of the every day "fix its" with dragging out my tool box. This is a well thought out, well made tool that is worth every penny and then some. By the way, 26 of those 50 years was in the army and in the boonies.

"A Perfectly Crafted Tool", Recently, I had the chance to handle Leatherman's Charge TTi, which could be considered their premier model. Although it was definitely of high quality, its movement and feel was more clunky than expected. The Swiss Spirit, on the other hand, has a movement like no other - totally fluid and precise. As someone who has already handled several of Victorinox's Swiss Army Knives, I thought I couldn't be "wow'ed" anymore by their quality, but this tool exceeded my expectation. It's great for home repair, electrical work, and outdoor excursions.

A few notes on the design:

The locking tools are the highlight for me. Every tool locks into place when extended; the mechanism is easy to operate yet very effective.

The tool itself is fairly small and relatively lightweight yet solid. For such a small size, it embodies a good combination of functionality and versatility, and it fits my hand perfectly (average sized guy's hand).

It should be noted that the pliers move very freely and do not stick, spring back (into an open position), or hold their position. Some might count this as a negative, but I believe its functionality to be, nevertheless, unhindered and, perhaps, favorable.

The tools themselves cover a wide range of on-the-job necessities, that have already come in handy in numerous situations - I do some light carpentry and construction on occasion and regular yard work.

The carrying case is also a major plus. Although the tools are stainless steel, anyone who knows their steels can tell you that even stainless steels can rust when neglected. The case is made of a fairly thick brown leather with a velcro closure that should shelter the tools from the weather and general neglect. I personally love the look of it too - very classic/timeless styling.

All in all, I can't see how anyone could think they made a bad purchase on this item. I was on the fence for awhile, did a little research on the tool, debated about buying it some more, and eventually figured it wouldn't kill me if I got it... and I'm glad I did... and you will be too.

"I Love it!", Great selection of tools. So far, the only tool that I needed that this handy multi-tool did not cover was a pipe wrench. I didn't really buy it for that use and did not expect to use it for that. Product is strong and durable. I use it on a daily basis, so it gets alot of use.

"No pen knife, that's fine!", I love everything about this tool! At first I thought that I'd have to still carry a pocket knife w/ me since this doesn't come with a traditional pen knife, but I was wrong. The knife that is in this tool is very sharp, cuts well and does about anything a regular pen knife does. Very good quality.

The only down size I have found is that it is a bit on the heavy size.

"Exudes Quality But Its Blunt Blade is an Ugly Duckling", I own Leatherman multi-tools including the new Wave, Pulse, Juice S2, Skeletool CX, Micra, Squirt S4, and Squirt P4. I also own about 20 Victorinox Swiss Army Knives ranging from nearly all the recent Alox models and many cellidor models including the old Champion, Swiss Champ, Swiss Champ XLT, and Cybertool 41. After owning all of these types of pocket knives and multi-tools, I can say that Victorinox makes the highest quality, highest consistency multi-tools and pocket knives. (Don't get me wrong, I like Leatherman a lot as they make well-designed tools, too. But the consistency is lacking with Leatherman when compared to Victorinox.)

The primary strengths of the Vic SwissTool Spirit include:

All locking tools
Access to tools with the pliers in the closed position
Presence of scissors (which distinguishes it from the Spirit "S" model)
Reputation of extremely good corrosion resistance
Chisel (which is unsual in any multitool)
Extremely good wood saw (better than Leatherman)
Very light weight for its size (only 5.5 oz)
Premium brown leather case (best case I've seen that comes with a tool, only downside to the case is that it cannot be worn in the horizontal position on a belt)
Extremely attractive with highly polished metal handles and tools
Extremely comfortable handles for pliers

There are downsides, however, and they are in my opinion:

"Butterknife" shape of the only blade (it does NOT have the familiar drop point that Victorinox usually uses in their SAKs or MTs)
Serrations on that blunt blade take up most of the length
Plain edge is a very small part of the blade near the joint
Philips screwdriver that needs to be squared off as it slips quite easily
Scissors are tiny (and smaller than any other multi-tool I own listed)

The Vic Spirit exudes quality and precision crafting. People are always split on their opinion of the blunt, "butterknife" shape of the main blade. I dislike it. The serrations are also in the front of the blade, rather than the back part like most other brands. The serrations can be ground off, however.

If you want a drop point blade, then you can get the Spirit "S" version which substitutes a drop point blade, but removes the scissors.

"Slim, Light, and Excellent", I have never owned a multi-tool before. I did a lot of research into what tool would be best for me. I wanted a variety of tools that would be useful in day to day work as well as on a camping trip or on the trail. The SwissTool Spirit, the SwissTool RS, and the Leatherman Core were at the top of my list. I had the opportunity to try each of these tools out at local stores and the Spirit was clearly the tool for me. With all the same quality and functionality of the RS and Core, the Spirit comes in a small, sleek design that fits the hand perfectly in both open and closed positions. This is not a bulky and complex tool. It is elegant and fuctional. I highly reccommend this tool to anyone looking for a high quality munti-tool with all the might of a larger tool in a smaller package.
