"I like it" This FM transmitter is a grrrrrrrrrreat choice. I really like how you can choose any station to transmit on or with bleed over. The signal strength is good. However, be careful about where your cigarette lighter is- if it's in an awkward spot, this will be a tight fit.
"Strong signal , good sound quality" First time I bought this from amazon and returned back because the 3.5mm stereo jack that came along was loose fit to the transmitter( I was required to keep pressing it slightly against the transmitter to receive non-stop tranmission from this). Amazon was so good, after I filed a return request, I got a replacement macally transmitter by air next day. The replacement one is very good, It overrides any strong local FM station and the sound clarity/quality is also pretty decent. Love this product.
"Works great but nut and bolt shake out" I absolutely loved this product while it worked. There was a screw that you tighten to keep the head from jiggling, and the nut/head part of it was shaken off on mine. Multiple times the screw and nut have fallen out while in the lighter plug during driving. Finally, one day I did not notice that the screw had fallen out, and I went to pull the device out of the lighter plug, the screw was not there to prevent separation and a wire tore in the lighter base. It hasn't worked ever since. :-( I really liked how it worked but I don't know if I will get another one if they don't change the screw/nut system. So if your get one, make sure to check that the screw is ALWAYS there before you go to remove it from your lighter socket.
"great reception" never had any interference expect for occassional mobile phone noise. although the transmission and reception is in stereo mode ..i do not get both the channels on the speaker( something like mono reception)..which screws with some songs i listen to. however my fm player in my car is old and this may be a problem with my player. the signal attenuation is not bad and is expected from such a system.
"awesome!!" this product is great. don't waste your money on more expensive products. others have purchased other products to do the same thing then wish they didn't because they love my macally. i bought one because someone recommeded it to me-i'm glad they did. now i return to favor to anyone looking and they love the macally also.

What our customer's say!
"good deal for the price", i hear static from the station on certain channels if the radio volume is turned up very much. i can change the station and that will resolve it on most occassions. i think this is a great product for the price that i paid.
"So far so good", I am writing this review with trepidation, because I'm afraid I'll hex my new FM transmitter. I live in the New York City metro area where we literally have no free radio frequencies. I picked up this transmitter on Friday (today is Monday) and it works well so far. I have been using it on 107.7. In addition to driving locally, I drove to Exit 5 on the NJ turnpike today and had excellent reception the entire way. I cannot vouch for sound quality, as I only listen to downloaded books. I don't know how it works for music. The other 2 transmitters I had (which each lasted about 6 months) did not have an on/off switch and I think putting it in and taking it out of the power source may have caused the contacts to weaken. I do like the on/off switch. I keep it plugged in all the time, and just shut it off. The one disadvantage is the size and the placement of my power source. Unfortunately it's not on the dash but on the console and the transmitter is partially blocking one of the cup holders. But this is a minor convenience compared to the quality of sound. I am reserving the right to check back in at some point in the future if the quality ends up failing!
"Useless on all counts...", Macally PodFM Transmitter for iPod (White) A totally useless piece of equipment. Even at full volume, could hardly hear the transmission. Tried 4 different radios, 2 of which having significant amplifiers, at various frequencies, all I managed to pick up was a very faint signal but lots of static. Waste of money.
"I messed up", I purchased this unit in order to listen to some lectures that were on CD. Upon receiving it I opened it and plugged it into the cigarette lighter and it appeared to work even though I didn't try to listen to anything at that point. When I went to use it several days later and it was DOA.
Since it seemed to work I had disposed of the packaging and see no way to exchange it now. My mistake.
Sorry for the poor review, but I am disappointed to say the least.
"The best iPod Transmitter I've seen", Strong signal so that your music isn't constantly static filled or worse. I've tried other brands, but this one is simply the best.

"Does the Job with Little Distortion", This transmitter was recommended by a neighbor and certainly does the job I expected, admirably. Little to no distortion in the transmission of the iPod audio to my FM car radio. I probably wouldn't use it with my home receiver, but I did try, and it worked.
"Better than the rest!", I've had this model for about a year and yes it has some breakage problems but still works well. I went out and bought a different brand for my dad and the transmitter was twice as much and worked half as well.
"Great bargain, I like it", After 1 month of use, I must admit that I like the product. While it is true the unit is bulky, I have not experienced any issues with the unit's performance --as a matter of fact it has performed beyond my expectations. The sound is great, it functions better than average, it's a flat-out bargain. The negatives are the cords, they can get tangled easily and the bulkiness of the unit. Minor flaws in my opinion.
"it could be a lot better", I bought this unit about 15 months ago. It worked well until about 3 months ago. I bough this because I liked the idea of being able to charge my ipod while listening to it on longer drives, no batteries, and the full spectrum of FM frequencies to chose from. Living in a larger border town finding an open station was difficult, but it turns out that it didn't matter (see below).
What I LIKE about the product: --Unit is powerful enough to overtake radio stations --I used it inside with my home stereo--a very nice option. --It has a long range. One day I left the unit and my ipod playing in my house and went for a drive. I could hear my music three blocks away. --It lasted a year (also a con because it *only* lasted a year --The retractable cable was nice (until it fell apart)
What I REALLY HATE about this product: --The unit is incredibly bulk and does not really work well with my manual transmission car and the nearby cigarette adapter. My shifter regularly slams into the unit and the unit makes it hard to shift into lower gears. --Because of the bulkiness, it is only compatable in my car if it is tipped sideways. I have to crane my neck to read the numbers, which is not very safe when you're flying down the interstate. --The cords have gotten tangled around my shifter--also very dangerous --The retractable cable is flimsy. After about 7 months, I noticed the coating on the cord peeling off. Eventually, the cable stopped working. It can be replaced with a $4 non-retractable cable from Wal-Mart. --When the unit transmits it have to constantly adjust the cord leading from the unit to the ipod because it is staticky. This is a new development and one that has rendered the unit useless. Sometimes it is so bad that you can't hear the music. I don't know if static got into the unit or if it is just worn out from use and taking a beating from my shifter. --It transmits at a low volume, regardless of static from the unit or interference from FM stations. --The plastic feels really cheap.
I have enjoyed this product, but I won't be buying another one. The bad outweighs the good. I am looking for something smaller and better quality.
"Best Sound From an FM Transmitter", I have to agree with a few people that this is a cheap FM transmitter in terms of durability. Still, the sound comes out amazing. It is the best I've seen and I've tried about 10 FM transmitters. Yes, McCally probably used the cheapest plastic they could find and probably not enough screws as my device came apart after 2 weeks, but i put the screw back in there and haven't had any problems since. One thing I will say is when removing it, be gentle.
PodFM was the 2nd FM transmitter I ever used. After trying 7 or 8 others I've returned to this one because the sound quality is great. Hardly any static. I've tried other FM T. and usually i have to keep the iPod really close to the radio.
If you are looking for sound quality i think this is the best FM Transmitter. So well that when I was leaving work and my friend was driving in front of me, he could hear my iPod (since he had it on the same radio station in his car).
