"instruction manual and battery charge?", I want to say that my iPod came to me perfectly and perhaps it did, except the instruction manual I received was in French (and I can't read French yet), so I haven't made time to find out how I can find out how to use the darn thing. I figured out some of it on my own but I'm still a little lost. At first I thought the battery wasn't holding a long charge, but now I think it may be ok. But since I have been unable to really use it since I don't know how as yet, I don't know for sure... I would rate it high if those two concerns were out of my mind. Everything else about it looks and feels like it's probably a good product and company ???

"spinning hard drive in pocket....not a great idea", Great when it works. The hard drives are not great though and once it starts to freeze sell it quick or plan in getting another. Repairing it will cost as much as buying a new one. If you have a service plan turn it in near the end of your plan for sure. I have owned three models and cared for them well. Only one lasted more than a year before choking and dying. It was always the hard drive! I am ready for flash memory in these things the spinning hard drive models are crap -- fundamentally a bad idea, but BEST OPTION for porting large files of data between work and home.

I returned ours that kept freezing to bestbuy before warranty was up and they kept it until two days before the warranty was over (three weeks) and didn't do anything. They just put a sticker on it and said it was fine. The thing started in the store but died two days later [...] Never again with them. Also wait until you can get an ipod with a solid state drive--forget the spinning drive thing.

"Keep this in a glass case, I suppose", Well, this was a very nice little MP3 plater until the other day when it fell about a foot onto a somewhat hard surface, and COMPLETELY BROKE. It didn't fall apart or anything, but it no longer plays any music - it just makes a grinding/clicking noise and freezes when you want it to play a song. And of course, because this is an Apple product, it's completely sealed in its slick little casing, so I can't take it apart to see if I can fix it. If I didn't already have the also overpriced iPod docking station, I wouldn't hesitate to replace it with a completely different brand of MP3 player.


"Dont buy refurbished electronics", I had the ipod for two weeks before it started malfunctioning. I sent it in for repairs (i had to pay shipping). I wish I bought a CD player instead.

"Best Buy", I bought a 20gb IPod about a month ago, I learned the controls quickly(wasn't that hard at all) and started loading songs the very same day. I really enjoy the product. An unexpected plus is if the ear buds cord comes out, the IPod will go on pause so you can plug it back in and be right where it left off. I'm up to about 600 songs and thats hardly half of the storage capacity of the 20gb. The Ipod fits right into my back pocket, still searching for a good Ipod holder though.

"Great ", This ipod the one of the best buys i have ever made. It is easy to put music on it, and Ilove Itunes. One of the greatest products ever.

"Ipod 20G", We received it very quickly and it was packaged very well. Unfortunately, it would not communicate with the i-tunes website. we took it to apple and because it was still under factory warranty they replaced it. We lucked out this time. we didn't check to see if it could communicate with I-tunes wehn we first received it. It was a gift and we didn't know to do that. I am happy that it was still under factory warranty. If it wasn't it would have been a pain to remedy the problem. I have not contacted the vendor.

"Great Ipod", This was a gift for my daughter and she has been thrilled with it. It works perfectly.

"Like Brand New", When I received this iPod, I could not believe it was not new, rather than refurbished. It was repackaged as though it were new, and has offered no problems whatsoever. I recently helped a friend purchase a 60 GB that cost over $500 after all of the necessary accessories were purchased for use in the car, and I would now insist that he buy refurbished in future, rather than new. Some products I have purchased refurbished have had reviews that indicated the purchaser was not happy with the product when received, but it has been my experience here and with other electronics that the manufacturer does everything possible to provide a like new product. And in this case they certainly succeeded.

"My ipod is the bane of my existance", I have experienced nothing but frustration with my Ipod. I bought it two years ago (Oct. 2004) and have since had it replaced 6 times. I bought the Apple Care Protection Plan (one year extended warrenty for $60) so that I could continue to get replacements when mine would inevitably break. Most recently, I called Apple to find out about my once again broken Ipod, and they informed me that my warrenty had run out, and it would cost $230 to repair it, so I might as well go to the Apple store and buy a new one. To which I replied, "I will never buy another Apple product, because I have never had an item that held up as bad as this did."

This was one of the worst purchases that I have ever made. I DO NOT recommend buying and Ipod, I would instead recommend the Creative Zen MP3 player, which is much more reliable and MUCH better made.
