What our customer's say!
"NutriGenie's Response to Soccer Mom's Half-Truths", We are sorry that Soccer Mom found the product hard to use. But the principal difficulty is her lack of understanding of nutrition and arithmetic. In her emails to us, she made wild calculations comparing apples and oranges. For example, Soccer Mom assumed that RDAs and DVs are the same beasts. She also believed that any "slice of beef liver" or "cup of milk" must have identical nutrition contents. She herself "misread" and "made ... error" as she confessed in her email when we pointed them out. We also explained that for display purpose, numbers are rounded up/down, so 0.02 is displayed as 0, but if 0.02 provides 12% of some goal then she will still see the 12% in the graph. This woman felt no compunction in distorting this perfectly acceptable rounding as "numbers frequently get truncated."
We can help her with the software, but we are not responsible for training her in nutrition. And there's not much we can do when she translated her own faulty assumption to our software's "fundamental calcuation error."
NutriGenie has been in business for over 15 years, with users in over 50 countries, including some of the most well-known universities and hospitals. Our nutrition software programs are the only ones that have been translated into other languages such as Italian, Greek, German, Croatian, etc. If Soccer Mom thinks that, throughout all these years, with thousands and thousands of sophisticated users, she (who wields a calculator but has little nutrition knowledge) is the only one who can immediately discover fundamental errors in our software, she should think again. On the other hand, it's understandable that an individual who doesn't see her own inadequacies but readily blames others ("customer support was lacking") would have no shame stating half-truths so long as she believes she can hide behind the internet anonymity.
Below is a few excerpts from Soccer Mom's emails to us:
"Sorry, I misread the government chart. If you follow the link, the numbers I have listed from the NIH chart actually are expressed in DVs. So then if your chart would be accurate, then the cup of milk ... should be almost identical since the units of measure are exact, yet your numbers are off by a factor of 300% compared to the NIH chart for 1 cup of milk."
"I made an error on the salmon in my first email regarding the Nutrigenie data. When I tested things this morning, your value is 12%, not 3%, however, that still means your chart is off by almost 666% compared to the NIH chart. Plus for the vitamin B12 content, the values for daily, meal and day show zero units on the Nutrigenie screen, yet the total comes out to be that salmon provides 12% goal of DV, which doesn't even make any sense. How can the daily value logically be zero for a food and yet provide 12% of DV?"
"why you program gives 0 units of vitamin B12 for food, day and meal values for salmon yet then goes on to provide 12% of goal. How can 0 unit of any food provide 12% of the daily goal? Zero times any other number still comes out to zero. That is a fundamental calcuation error within your software that makes absolutely no sense and has nothing to do with DVs."
*** WRT the assertion from clueless Soccer Mom that our "design and help manuals are very amateurish. Many of the columns have no explanations as to what mean". Just go to NutriGenie website and see the sample screenshots (navigation at lower right corner of browser) and judge the design for yourself and determine if explanations exist.
"Very Disappointing Product", I was very disappointed in the quality of this program. The design and help manuals are very amateurish. Many of the columns have no explanations as to what they mean, numbers on the screens frequently get truncated and the values for at least some of the vitamins just didn't seem to add up correctly. The program is difficult to use and customer support was lacking.
I stopped using this in favor of the Nutribase program, which is a much higher quality program, easier to use and has a more professional look and feel. I've been using the Nutribase program for many months now for meal planning for my family and have been quite pleased with it.
